I wanna play a pokemon from each gen.Should I play emerald after fire red to stay consistent with the graphics, or heart gold to stay consistent with the gen order?
HGSS would make more sense, although it has some mechanical improvements Emerald lacks so just be warned about that going backwards again.

FRLG and HGSS are good so you could argue to play them or the originals, ORAS and BDSP are useless and should not be considered.I would also argue that you should play SM over USM because the only thing gen 7 has to its name is a decent story, which USM shits on so you're left with a garbage game.
