I like it, but Returnal is honestly a better game.I'm not 100% done with it but almost, just need to platinum it. First off, the shield is just pointless. I rarely, if ever have any reason to use it.Second, the parry. Again, pretty pointless and you don't often have any situations in which you want to use it. Third, the artifacts. It's just an inferior system to the parasites that existed in Returnal. Most of them don't do much of any real interest and feel pointless.The level design. It's so much more linear, there's virtually 0 backtracking on any of the biomes. I guess they wanted to streamline the game for faster runs, but it makes the game worse because Returnal had that metroidvania vibe where you could go back through the whole biome looking for something you might have missed if you wanted to. The gameplay is just too samey on each run. There's hardly any variety like there was with Returnal where each run kind of felt different depending on what gun you picked up and used. WAY less gun variety. There's only what, like 5 weapons in the game? Pistol, Assault rifle, Shotgun, Crossbow, Chakram. That's it, yes there's varieties of each weapon but FAR LESS than Returnal. There's hardly any actual variation, and the pistol and shotgun are practically useless. There's hardly any situations in which either of them are useful in any of their forms. The Onslaught Rifle and the Crossbow are the only weapons you should ever use because of how powerful they can be compared to the others. Melee, virtually no reasons to use it except on shields. Overall, just so much less variety. Almost each run in Returnal felt kind of unique, like a Roguelike should feel like. Saros just doesn't have the same vibe, each run basically feels the sameTo be honest, it's an 8/10 game at best and a pretty big downgrade from Returnal, and I was a massive fan of Returnal it's one of my favorite games, but Saros is a disappointment in comparison. Returnal is just a lot better.
