Articuno is a good choice with Venusaur. First off is just PP. Venusaur can clear Lorelei and Bruno solo pretty fine except Jynx. Agatha resists grass, and with the sleep shenanigans two pokemon is good. Articuno solos Lance. Takes care of Pidgeot, Charizard, and Exeggutor for Venusaur. Alakazam can one shot Venusaur too depending on level, so Articuno helps there.

Stuff like Froslass and Cryogonal having tiny special attack, powerful ones always being slow, then once the blue moon happens and they make stuff like Iron Bundle, it's an instant top threat and gets banned. I'm really interested to see how Mega Froslass fares, bc on paper it's the most powerful Ice type ever made.
