The more you do it the better you get at remembering dreams. Also it's fun to flip through it on the pot. It's a pain in the ass. You're tired and don't want to write. Tough. Reality checks. There are 2 ways to go about this and you have to find the right reality check that works for you. My reality check is pinching my nose shut and trying to breathe thorough my nose. Of course I can't when I'm awake, but when I'm asleep I can breathe through my nose when pinching it shut. Works a treat. Find your reality check, then figure out WHEN to do it. Any time you walk through a doorway, reality check or something. I just brute forced it. Any time I thought of it, I would do a reality check. I did it so often I started doing it in my dreams and bam, I'm lucid. Just be careful of routine. Every time you check, take a moment to actually step back and focus on a question in your mind. "Am I dreaming?" Then reality check. If you just do it without thinking or focusing on it, you'll do it in a dream, go "oh, neat", then immediately lose lucidity.
