I think it looks surprisingly good. It's just Burnout with a Star Wars paint. Also the market needs more arcade racers in general.
well looked like most pod racing games. dunno i guess it could be fun for 2-3 hours or something
Looks good
>>738516872it should work in VR being Unreal Engine so I'll give it a blast
I don't give a shit about Star Wars, but I like Burnout, Wipeout and F-Zero and this is the closest I'll get to any of those in the modern day. So I'll probably get it.That said as someone who doesn't care about Star Wars, why were people talking about the game "having podracing" or not early on. Is anti-grav racing in the setting not just the same thing as pod-racing or is there a distinction there?
>>738516872All we've seen is clip shows. Hard to say if it's gonna be good based of just that. I hope it's good though. Future racers have dried up again these last few years.
>>738516872Very normal and obviously not a marketing thread.
>>738517036there is a distinction
>>738516872>BurnoutYes, it's a city driving game based on crash mechanics. Okay bro.
>>738517036You owe it to yourself to play Star Wars Episode 1 Racer.Pretty sure both the Steam and GOG versions work right out of the box these days.Basically the game did a few small things with how the crafts handled and how you take and repair damage that felt unique to the "jet engine chariot" type of AG crafts. Episode 1 Racer is beloved, so people want more of it. Simple as that.
>>738517036podracers specifically are vehicles with 2 big engines connected to a small cockpit, like a weird sc-fi chariot
>>738517305is there difference gameplay wise? played some of that n64 star wars racing game as a kid at friend's house
>>738517036there is a difference but this game has pod racing
>>738516872The lore is all fucked. speeders can't keep up with pod-racers. still gonna buy it though.
>>738517036pod-racers are crack-cocaine racing for hillbilly aliens. They're so fast humans cannot pod-race because their reflexes can't keep up with the speed of a pod-racer. Anakin (little boy darth vader) is special and has force powers which allows him to see two seconds or something into the future allowing him to pod race.Speeders are just the car or hover car or the star wars universe
>>738517398in galactic racer? probably, a landspeeder, a speeder bike, and a podracer are all fundamentally different vehicles in how they work. n64 game only had podracers each with different stats if i remember
>>738517398In Episode 1 Racer, the main thing about the engines was how they took damage. Each could get damaged individually and you had a repair mode you could enter that would heal the engines up one at a time. Also your engines could catch fire by boosting too long or driving on lava. If one engine was too damaged or you were repairing one, your craft would pull to that side. An ongoing fire dealt damage over time to one engine until you repaired it. Also there's some unique death animations when one of your engines was lost and your craft spiraled out of control for a bit until it finally exploded. In terms of controls, you could lift your craft up or push it down, mostly affecting your control during jumps. Pushing down also prepared your boost, so that button is very important. Finally, your craft generally being much wider than high, you could turn your craft all the way on its side and keep driving like that to clear obstacles.Other than that these contraptions just look cool and they go very fast with little safety nets.
>>738516872Flop, you can't release shovelware of star wars without first releasing an actual good star wars game
>>738517705meant like if it was pure pod racing instead of being anti grav racing. would there be difference or is it just that people prefer pods over other vehicles
>>738517775ah okay thanks. don't remember much about it. engine thing sounds like it could be something that makes difference
>>738517036You ever try redout or 2? I'm trying to decide how long I should wait for sales on 2.
>>738517919redout 2 is pretty good but support for it got dropped kind of fast and i dont know if the devs are actually going to ever go back to it
>>738518454Thanks, ten bucks seems fine.
>>738516872I'm having a blast!
>>738518657have fun
>>738518684blast having has been pretty good this year
>>738517036I'm in the same position, big fan of AG racers but think starwars is gay. I was wondering the same thing but judging by the responses to your question, it was pure onions boy nostalgia and there was nothing special about podracers besides aesthetics and gay lore.
>>738517919Redout 1 is great. No real notes. Don't go in thinking it should handle like other future racers. It does its own thing and you need to accept that. You just need to relearn fundamentals like proper cornering and then it's really fun.Redout 2 is good. Pretty different from the previous game. A bit less complicated in its basic driving, but the tracks can be pretty laborious and managing all your resources at once takes up a huge amount of focus in that game. A good double boost on a long straight is still lots of fun.
>>738516872I play Redout so I welcome noobs to crush
>>738516872>UE5gonna pirate it
>>738517518The Pod Racers and the other Speeder variants don't seem to be allowed in the same races, the Skimmer that was shown off a lot in trailers are something new and arn't Pod Racers
>>738517628also, daily reminder that corellia has trains. rocket powered trains that blast along at escape velocity +. just to move all the cargo for CEC and shit.
