Never got to play RE:Outbreak back when the servers were full of people still learning the game, all that's left now is people who know the game inside out.I'm glad I did get to experience UT1999 and BF1942 during their peaks, as well as America's Army 2.x and DF:BHD, but there's a lot of multiplayer games from that era I never got a chance to try out when they actually had players. The ones not completely shut down have a small core of hardcore players that make it unplayable for everyone else.

By the late 2000s, it just became boring, because most genres were established, MMOs turned out to be shit and filled with awkward nerds, technology stopped improving that much and the wonder of what games could actually become disappeared, because we'd more or less reached the limits of technology, outside of graphics. There were still some exceptions here and there, like Mountain Blade, Dwarf Fortress, early Rimworld, X3 and other shit I can't remember, but it kinda just stopped being exciting as we drifted into the 2010s. VR temporarily reignited my hope, and I got a Vive, but that all turned out to be a dud.Eh...
