It's basically Plok. It's basically Command and Conquer. It's basically Marble Madness. No, I don't can't point to any evidence of this, just believe me bro.
It has the job switching thing from a few other Final Fantasy games, both in selecting the job from a menu and from upgrading it for a specific character. Attacks aren't randomly given to characters mid-battle. They're obtained in a pause menu with their specific costs. It's most like FF5, but with a few new things like a combo counter and a prototype FF13 paradigm shift.
