>>738548809It's the one that trannies desperately try to "claim" even though it makes no sense. They do that with a lot of stories and the biggest mistake one can make is to effectively agree with them when a story gets labelled as "tranny shit" when it has nothing to do with it at all.

>>738552326I mean, imagine being a shellshocked Japanese officer in World War II, and all of a sudden you meet a rich, blonde, Neo-Renaissance girl from Italy who can speak English and Japanese. And you are both the only two survivors of a major incident, which leaves you literal tons of pure gold. It's hard to not understand Kinzo's position, even if what he did later was despicable.
>>738552126I still don't know who's actually Mion and who's Shion.
>>738552679she couldn't speak japanese, just english. because Kinzo was a westaboo, he could speak english as well. iirc they bonded because they served as interpreters for the italians and japanese and were the only two members of either side that could understand each other
>>738552326It's a blonde, 20-something years old italian fascist. That's up there with the peak of pussies.
>>738552915That is correct. They were the only two people that could communicate with each other.
I remember reading at least 6 or 7 episodes of this, and getting really disappointed by the fact all of it was just some very convoluted way of narrating an otherwise very simple, straight forward and disappointing plot. I also remember that any few cathartic moment or emotional payoff would always get overtuned and made hollow by the next scenes basically overwriting them as just some narrative detour on the way to the "truth". I think I also quit because the episode I was on was basically just like someone explaining to me the details of that final twist I had already figured out one or two episodes ago, there was absolutely no stakes everything was just floaty, esoteric and obfuscated for the sake of obfuscating.Sometimes i'm tempted to pick it up again and try another read, see if it clicks as the masterpiece it is hailed at. But I don't know, I kinda doubt it.
>>738553336Your feelings were how I was feeling on episodes 5-7. Then by 8 it clicked to me the only way the story makes sense is as a meta "don't even try to take this as a direct story, it's a metanarrative about storytelling" and personally it suddenly worked a lot better, even if with a very cynical twinge of "this only works because I know to ignore a lot of what didn't before because turns out it doesn't matter".
I began typing about how much I love Umineko then out of nowhere I ripped the loudest and longest fart of my whole life. I'm staying at a cabin with some extended family and I had to awkwardly unplug my laptop and bring it upstairs. One of my cousins made a disgusted face and gagged as I went past her up the stairs.Genuinely the most mortified I've ever felt in my whole life, holy shit I'm so fucking embarassed.
>>738553797cool story battler
>>738553464I had definitely picked up on the many meta-narrative elements, which I remember got introduced more heavily from episode 3 onwards with Ange (I think that was her name ? it's been years). I'm willing to view it as a meta-story about storytelling - but then as you say :>turns out it doesn't matterSo that also takes away from the few otherwise enjoyable story beats (like some occasional successful asspulls Battler would pull off). In comparaison I don't know if you've read Danielewski's House of Leaves but that is to me a better exemple of a meta-narrative that is both more than the sum of it's part, but also boasting compelling individual parts that can stand and be appreciated on their own even when aware of the bigger, meta-narrative picture.Still your comment makes me curious about episode 8, I might give it another go.
>>738553797jesus christ I'm trying not to break out into laughter in front of my own extended family kek
>>738553797lmao wtf man
>>738551303subtle clue that...rosa wants to have bed breaking sex w/ battler? why did that hit you in the gut?
>>738554352I'm trying to strike a balance here where I don't want this to feel like "no, no, it's actually good because XYZ" because I do agree with a lot of the criticisms and I think I just ended up enjoying it because the specific angle at the end works for my tastes, but I think it's a reasonable take that the story shits itself in the 2nd half and definitely that it isn't a masterpiece. To me the way it works is that by the end it's a mystery but it's not a murder mystery, it's an anthropology mystery. You're not trying to solve the Rokkenjima murders, you're trying to solve how the story of the Rokkenjima murders has become distorted and retold in such a way that you end up getting elements like "this random girl that happened to disappear nearby was actually in the island and was the genius detective solving everything" or "actually it was witches playing chess doing it all". That's the level it works at, to me, at least. It's a story about people speculating about a historical event and getting carried away by their narratives, not about the event itself.
>>738554843Anon, can you think of any reason why the writer of these fragments is repeatedly inserting incest fanfic, and how that's a clue?
>>738555168Yeah, that isn't what was going on in that passage. The curtains were blue.
>>738555168He wants to fuck the aunts, he wants to fuck Maria, too.
>>738555168The clue is that I want to have sex with all of the aunts
>>738555168I honestly think the point here isn't meant to really be incestuous but moreso Battler simply acknowledging Rosa is an attractive woman
>>738555168Rosa being a slut is not really foreshadowing
>>738555019NTA but for me what works is that both aspects are good. When you're playing the first half the murder mysteries and magic debate are GOOD. Battler and Beato's friction is fantastic. The setup and buildup through the first 4 chapters is super good. Then when the focal point slowly shifts towards the meta plane and it collides with the real world implications, the paralells between what's being told and what actually happens in the real world come into place and when the bigger "themes" are more thoroughly explained (the difference between facts and opinions, how your perception of someone changes how you interpret their actions, and all the stuff you mention) then it's also great.Yes, the murders kind of phase into the background but it works because the plot isn't "about them".I won't deny that the first 4 chapters were more endearing because nothing comes close to Beato and Battler's antagonistic rivalry unfolding. And the magical murders (elevated by the soundtrack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DR_FRf2HGk) were gigakino. Is there room for criticism? Yea. Is said criticism valid? Probably. Does acknowleding said criticsim drag down my opinion on how much I enjoyed reading this? Fuck no, it was awesome.
>>738553797KekBig if true
eva hypermogs baka rosa
>>738555430I might find the murder mystery side more appealing upon an eventual re-read. To me it started to really strain because it felt I kept being given new information that was unparseable, flooded with red herrings, and it gave me no solid place to stop and think, especially chapters 5-6-7 where you start getting the focus entirely on things like Erika's wedding, giving me a vibe of "ok but I just want to try and understand the murder why are you distracting me with all this other nonsense". It's why the final paradigm change to thinking about it not as a murder mystery but as a storytelling mystery worked the best for me to interpret the story- suddenly all those red herrings and elements obfuscating the murder mystery angle were in equal standing in the mystery of "how did people end up thinking this is what happened" instead.Again though, it's very much my specific take, wouldn't consider it "the way everyone is supposed to take it".
>>738556108The fact that all of them were fanfics and nothing even happened, coupled with no one ever reading Eva's journal (that could still contain subjective truths anyway) completely drills the point that that didn't matter. But I agree that it's a bit weird how Battler solves everything and you don't even get a resolution for that side of the plot until way, way later. You spend chapter 5 learning of the baby and Battler solves everything in the end. At that point the story stops being told from Battler's point of view and it becomes somene else's game. You spend chapter 6 "reviving" Beatrice and it's the excuse to tell you in red how many people actually are in the island. Both are still vital clues to solve the overarching mystery of why everything happened in the first place which still held my attention while the other sides of the story were developed. Even if I think chapter 6's love tournament was too dragged out for me.7 basically explains the whole character of Yasu and the tragedy that lead to the whole game which wraps Beatrice's story (there isn't anything to be told after), but even then chapter's 1-6 murders weren't fully explicitly explained. But I think there's some caviats to this.If all the mysteries you saw that far were explained as soon as the point of the story shifted, then the reader would reach a climax of sorts that could make them lose interest on the other sides of the story which I think is a valid choice narrative-wise to hold their attention untl the end.And they don't commit to an explanation ingame to drive home the point that the murders aren't important (the manga still fully explains them for anyone that wants to read them and it shows they were thought out in advance) and while this may be contentious opinion I think it was the right choice.I think the game strikes a good balance between shifting the focus and still dropping clues towards the overarching mystery but I'd probably agree with any pacing issues pointed out.
>>738547291Why didn't Battler just fix her with his dick?
>>738556970not enough time
>>738551521I love how the vn gives you this image of Maria being some scary, dangerous girl, and then throughout the game you realize the obvious, that she's just a lonely, completely powerless child.Even the scene where it seems like it will be all about Maria torturing Rosa by killing her over and over, ends being more like mutual torture with Rosa verbally abusing the shit out of Maria.
>>738556849There is literally nothing wrong with knowing the truth, or getting the answer to a riddle spelled out at some point.
>>738552471Umineko true happy ending
For me, it's Natsuhi.
>>738557475I don't think it's wrong to CARE for the solutions of the murders but at the point in the story when everything is laid out, you either mostly figured everything by yourself and/or you don't really care (at least I didn't care). Especially since the bigger fish is immediately explored: what "actually" happened. And the next chapter very clearly states the intention of the writer: that it also didn't matter (to Ange) because knowing the truth wouldn't relieve her pain and even if she was told she could choose to still not believe it was the truth, and instead life should be lived forward not stuck in the past.I wouldn't have been mad or anything if the game explicitly showcased the detailed sequence of events in every game like the manga does though. But I thought (after finishing the novel, recalling the events, and reflecting upon what I've read) that it was thematically appropriate.
Paizuritoko
I'm thinking of re-reading Umineko, should I give the updated sprites a chance or stick with the classics?
>>738557839Imagine not being able to get her pregnant
>>738558107There are 3 sets of sprites.
>>738558107The originls are the most charming ones.PS3 sprites are great and you'll probably appreciate the breathe of fresh air on the character designs. The pachinko sprites are hideous.
>>738558107don't. it's worse than you remember.
I don't care about the official truth, I will stick to my theory that Battler solved the epitaph, found the secret room and activated the bomb without knowing what it was. No other murders took place.
>>738558107do. it's better than you remember.
>>738558356Why was Eva on Kuwarodian on your headcanon
>>738558291I definitely prefer OG Jessica to PS3. >Jiiiiii~...>>738558356It was actually rats eating the wiring while Sayo was giving Battler and Eva a tour of Kuwadorian.
>>738558192Imagine giving a shit about gold, when you could be having baby making sex with ushiromiya women 24/7.
>>738558342I read Higurashi a couple years ago (was animeonly before) and loved it so I doubt Umineko will disappoint me
>>738558414She also solved the epitaph between Battler doing it and the bomb going off
>>738558438Yeah Jessica doesn't have the best redesign. In my opinion the characters that look the best on the PS3 sprites are the ones with smaller eyes (the adults, most male characters, etc)
>>738557839Natsuhi really is the best.
>>738558834Honestly, all of the dudes in the pachinko sprites look fine except Battler, where they massively exaggerated his hair. The girls took the issue the PS3 version already created and amped it up to 11. Kyrie's sprite is just retarded. Thankfully, none of the manga art does this. The characters look like people in clothes.
>>738559067These scenes are really sad in retrospect.God I love Natsuhi. My beloved.
>>738559221You can't look at that Hideyoshi sprite and tell me he looks fine.
>>738558534higurashi is actually good, umineko is not
>>738559327His nose is flatter, but it's Hideyoshi. He may as well have not even been given a sprite.

>>738559995It is Mother's Day in the US tomorrow.
>>738558834I played umineko with ps3 sprites and now I'm doing the same with Higurashi. There's some things that I wish were more accurate with the og ones, but overall I can't imagine being able to take the story seriously with those, maybe I'm just soulless.
>>738560149I played with the PS3 sprites too and I don't regret it, but I do find the originals charming
>>738560208Yeah, they're funny, I like how moe Battler looks in them.
>>738558834The updated sprites' biggest sin is making George thin.
>>738560609If Battler had played his cards right he'd be fucking Jessica, a bisexual schizo maid who was into him and Jessica and had endless money, and his half sister. Umineko truly was a tragedy.
>>738553797irl rokkenjima disaster
>>738560609>not posting the edited version
>>738547291This bitch made cum buckets something about her design and character stimulates my primal urges.
>>738561128Jessica has a few interpretations:1. She's blind. She needs glasses, which explains both her grades, and her inability to recognize the same person in slightly different makeup. 2. She's a lesbian. 3. She's a troll and intentionally led her friend's alter ego on out of jealously of her and George.4. She legitimately thought that her friend was a dude and that the orphanage did something "weird."
>>7385614495. she herself is actually Sayo/Kanon/Shannon/Beatrice, explaining the similarities in design and characterisation at points
>>738561508>Jessica was fucking GorgeeBattler bros...
>>738561508That's the spiciest one, and I had considered it at once point, but dropped it for being WAY too convoluted and contradictory to the source material. Yeah, Jessica being Lion would be a "kino" reveal, but make it make sense. I tried and failed.
>>738561423>"Hmm... Anon likes abusive single moms, I wonder what that tells about him."
>>738561423You just know that she's the kinkiest, craziest whore imaginable, and she will kill people to protect you.
>>738561772but enough about kyrie
>>738561636I don't think it fully works either but I think it's interesting that it works further than you'd expect. Idea being that she made up everyone else in her diary or letters or whatever documentation people ended up having access to after the disaster as means of coping by an isolated sad rich girl. Makes up a boyfriend for herself in Kanon, makes up a friend for herself in Shannon, makes up that her friend has a cooler older responsible boyfriend in George, makes up the entire "actually Natsuhi had an adoptive daughter resulting from incest rape etc etc" as a chuuni fake fantasy backstory so she can imagine herself interesting, shows the hints of a crush on Battler and a similar logic (IIRC even similar wording at one point) of wanting a white knight to save her like how Shannon talks about Battler, etc.
>>738561810Kyrie is even crazier but Rosa wants lovey dovey sex.
>>738553797https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTAcJ0ZcUkI
>>738561921LmaoBTW this is the same board that just had a thread go to bump limit about "4chan not having OC anyway"Methinks they arent looking hard enough
>>738561772>and she will kill people to protect you.Anon, Rosa is very clearly emotionally still a child due to all her complexes. She keeps sleeping with rich old men, which tells me she wants someone to take care of her. Her protective instincts are more related to children because she's still a mom.
>>738562045People like that are just getting self-filtered>enter thread made by miserable people for other miserable people to be miserable in>wtf why is there nothing fun here
>>738561904Thinking back again, I gues you COULD stretch the entire plot to say that Sayo/Shannon was Jessica's alter ego, and Kanon her imaginary boyfriend. Beatrice being her repressed evil side from living trapped on an island for most of her life. It's just that it would render Sayo's story pointless and boring, so it's not a fun theory.
Rosa Umineko Footjob
>>738562045Well /v/'s on edge because of the Nintendo sales report, it's so funny because it's a totally normal report yet it's causing wall-to-wall tantrums in every thread, even the ones that have nothing to do with Nintendo at all. Most people aren't rationally claiming that OC doesn't exist though, that's kinda provably false.>>738561921Top kek!>>738553797That sorta happened to me once but it was a camping trip. I still feel a bit embarassed to this day.
>>738562526yesit's making me tempted to start drawing porn again
>>738562580
>>738562659too busy right now but hopefully within a couple weeks yes
>>738547291>brings up her kid to her one night stand>"maybe you should take better care of her">immediately starts chimping outI will never not hate Rosa.
>>738563234That was such a funny scene, like the guy was being extremely reasonable too, I couldn't help but burst out laughing at her absurd overreaction.
>>738553797Once , i took my socks off at a party, and the smell was so overpowering everyone vacated the roomIt was good for me though as it meant i could cut myself a piece of cake and grab a bottle of juice without having to socialise with the plebians
Umineko Happy ending:>Kinzo writtes a will before he dies, equally diving his wealth and gold>Natsuhi becomes Kinzo's successor>Krauss becomes a house husband>Battler marries Rosa and gives Maria some siblings>George and Jessica enter a poly relationship with Shannon/kanon>Nanjo invents a cure for cancer and whatever weird decease Eva had>Genji remains a slave furniture servant for the rest of his life>Gohda becomes the final Beatrice
>>738564353Beatrice will always blow up the island without a pussy/cock. It's the crux of the narrative.
>>738564621Nanjo cures cancer AND invents pussycocks.
>>738564882My happy ending timeline is that the cousins all go to Kuwadorian together, Sayo robotic and depressed. The library annex there contained tons of arcane books worth millions according to Ep4. Turns out that one, and just one of them contains legitimate magic. Battler pulls it off the shelf at random and suggests they try a spell to raise everyone's spirits. Cue a trip into wonderland as whatever spell they cast together causes chaos, then more chaos as they try to use other spells in the book to fix things. Eventually, they find one to fix Sayo. I just made all of this up right now.
>>738564621>Beatrice will always blow up the island without a pussy/cockWhere does this detail even come from?Is that the "what am I supposed to do with this body unable to love" line when she has a meltdown after discovering that Kinzo is her dad?Genuine question.
>>738548354>>738551045That's official art? How did r07 go from that to the feminist trash that was new SH?
>>738550314Super erotic
>>738548809No trannies.Some medical gender confusion.Possibly homosexuality.
>>738551794How do you know if that's his true soulmate?
>>738565279>where does this detail come from? The manga spells it out, but if you are able to read through the lines in Episode 2, it's very clear that Sayo's inability to have sex or even pleasure herself has driven her completely insane. Go back and read Beatrice's rants in detail. They're not even close to referencing romantic love. Sayo was obsessed with the idea of sex that she could never have.
>>738552126>>738552192Why is it that worrying about boobs is japan-only worries but not westoid women?
>>738552950>20-somethingEw. Christmas cake haggard.
>>738565502I thought the whole point was a juxtaposition between Beatrice's reflection on the truth of the matter (she's a byproduct of Kinzo raping her mother, i.e "men only lust for women's body and true love doesn't exist") and Shannon's "pure" love (the genuine feelings of love and affection that caused this whole ordeal, being in love with battler but being forgotten about)Never got anything about not being able to have sex. The "body that's unable to love" always felt like me as what's spelled out: extremely bruised, injured body that is barely hanging alive by a thread and only offers a miserable existence.
>>738565315Umineko is a feminist game too.
>>738565791so is higurashi in fact
>>738565315R07 has always been fairly normal soft liberal feminist of "women are mistreated and should be treated better and people should be nice to each other. Also if everyone is consenting, or if it's just drawing, anything goes sex-wise"
>>738565502A body capable of love is meant in the way of a body for producing offspring. The magic of turning 2 into 3. But incest is forbidden, so even though her soul longs for the cousins, she can't.
>>738565791>>738565829Explain and elaborate
>>738565829True.
>>738565279The novel's bg details and then the manga makes it more explicit, Sayo was injured in the genital area when she fell as a baby. From there, both troon-obsessed anons here and teens wanting trans rep have decided that it means "had a penis but the penis was mangled", but personally the way Genji acts to hide her etc only makes sense if she's always had female organs and is expected to go through female puberty.
>>738565931well in higurashis case its hard to summarise due to the textual density, superficially it covers topics like abuse and infidelity and female neurosis in sensitive ways but the subtext of the story is more complicated, its basically all about systemic abuse being allowed because of japans tacit compliance culture (its their version of izzat), and the final boss of the story is literally a paramilitary right wing organisation called "tokyo" that is responsible for exacerbating this through an insane conspiracy. theres a lot of resident evil in there with the virus too
Rosa should have gotten some estranged nephew deep dickings to burn off some stress.Natushi should have gotten a spin too, help her migraines.

A girl with a wounded uterus but a perfectly natural vagina that (You) can imagine yourself fucking would definitely become confused as to what gender she really is. Absolutely. She would invent a male persona and become schizophrenic over an abdomen scar in her early teens. Alternate possibility: you're gay.

I don't condone what Kinzo did, but I understand his struggle.
>>738569129What were Kinzo's realistic non-meme options for Beato II? He couldn't just raise a hapa in his traditional Japanese family in the 1950s. Could he hide her in Argentina?

>You will never come home to Rosa sobbing over how much a failure she is as a parent and member of the Ushiromiya family, whereupon you gently comfort her and let her cry on your shoulder which gradually leads to more intimate contact and, eventually, the most impassioned misery sex of your life in which you continually berate her over how pitiful she is and assure her that you're only there because you feel sorry for her, followed by her begging you to stay the nightWhat's even the fucking point?
>>738569324>He couldn't just raise a hapa in his traditional Japanese familyI think literally anything other than looking her away in a house for her whole life, with no contact with the outside world, then raping and impregnating her, would have been better.
>>738569839Not even a little rape? As a treat?
>>738569839With how non Japanese are treated in Japan, that's actually not 100% true. I think he had the right idea for her first ~7 years of life, then he should have shipped her off to Europe with Genji to look after her. That almost sounds like the premise of a manga.
>>738565739You just need to be charming enough and have enough money and you can get Rosa to serve you her daughter on a satin pillow, I just know she would.
Reminder that Rosa hates virgins, so she would hate every single one of you.

I genuinely think Rosa is the best written character in the whole story.

>>738570009It's the late 1900's, not feudal Japan, literally just paint her hair black and send her to some private school like Ange, even being bullied would have been better than what she went through.
>>738570310I wished that we got more of how the incident traumatized her and changed her life forever. Instead it feels like a retcon. >>738570409>dye a hapa's hair, give her contatcts, then send her off to the masses>in 1957 JapanWhat's the worst that could happen?
Sex with Battlerice!
One of the weird elements I kept expecting to see paid off but never did is just, why is Battler named Battler?I get the whole "the Ushiromiyas had kira-kira names because Kinzo was a stupid asshole", but every other Ushiromiya just has an actual real name, all of them German IIRC. Except Battler, who has a simpler noun. I kept expecting that to be important in some way, but nope
>>738570604Do you think Kinzo just constantly beat Rosa afterwards?
>>738570604>What's the worst that could happen?Yes, what's the worst that could happen, that could be worse than getting raped by your father(one of the only human beings you have ever had contact to), giving birth to his child, then falling off a cliff and dying shortly after?
>>738570708Battler is named after the Tarot card. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magician_(tarot_card)
>>738570746I'm pretty sure she says he never commented on it to her.
>>738570796I get that, but it still feels out of place. At least if he was named "Ushiromiya Magier" or something
>>738570805Ah, then she probably experienced something like the Telltale Heart. Overpowering guilt despite seemingly getting away with something. Would totally explain her being barely functional.
If Kinzo lied about how he was innocent on how the Italians and japs killed each other, who's to say he didn't lie about his relationship with the og Beatrice too? The way she was also locked up inside a house and died shortly after giving birth... In fact, doesn't Sayo say something about her first "body" having committed suicide?
>>738567328I'd fuck Erika like an animal, but only on the conditions that she wear the tights and put duct tape over her mouth.
>>738570991That's a really rare topic, but yeah. It makes sense to have a parallel between Beato 1, 2, and 3. Beato 1 was locked up in Odaiba, and we have almost no info to go on except Sayo-Beato's implication that she killed herself. Personally, I think Sayo had knowledge from Genji and she was right.
>>738565910He stopped working on his latest ( I dont know if you can call it that since it's been like 6 years ) visual novel because the war in the Ukraine depressed him. Doesn't get much more pathetic than that.
What I want to know is why is anyone entertaining the idea that witches are real, we all know they're fake it's not even worth considering as a "what-if"
>>738571376It's again a stock example of stock thoughtless nice guy liberal. Was happy writing a story about war because there was no war going on in the first world directly so he got to have the notion of war being something that yeah exists but it doesn't really count. Then Russia invaded Ukraine, and later Israel invaded Gaza, and suddenly it feels too real for comfort for him. Which of course, the answer to that is "war was still existing before and you wrote Chapter 1 fine, get over yourself"
>>738571376That was just as a cover, he stopped working on it because it gigaflopped.Doesn't help that the all-stars team of composers that worked with him fucked off.
>>738571217Then Sayo realized she fell in love with a literal clone of Kinzo, and that's when she knew she had to kill everyone to break the cycle. She did nothing wrong.
>>738571413witch belly erotic
>>738548809she literally has a daughter that she gave birth to using her VAGINA

>>738571607Î mean, sure, but you see what I mean, no? They emphasise the point that this family is forced by a weird tradition imposed by Kinzo to use kira-kira names, and then every name used is German, except for the protagonist's. Why's he the only one with a non-German name? Etc.
>>738571668Uh, Shannon-chan, lay off the weekend wine and cake.

>>738571668How quickly would she drop her panties if Battler had remembered her
