Dungeon Crawlers are sucking up my life!! The girls are so cute tho.
I'm legit loving this game though, I had such an awful experience with Dungeon Travelers 2Heart but 2-2 is a much comfier experience. Anyone else spent time with the genre lately?

Imagine you wake up to the sound of her giggling, you open your eyes and see that you're in a dimly lit chamber. As you try to move, you realize that your arms and legs are fastened to a crossbeam, spread apart. You also notice now that you are completely naked. She comes from around the corner, still giggling, before delivering swift, brutal kicks to your exposed, dangling testicles.

What do you do?

Its just custard!! Each boss fight is against a corrupted girl you recruit and after you beat them you always get a questionably ecchi scene. It's more wholesome than it sounds.
I've skipped the middle game though so I've kinda accidentally spoiled the demon king plot. My own fault but the 2Heart game was genuinely a tedious grind so I expected I'd drop this one

>Anyone else spent time with the genre lately?
Yes, they're one of the main games I'm playing. I currently have a handful that I need to wrap up and move on to other games. Dungeon Travelers 1, Bard's Tale 2, and Wizardry 1 are what I'm currently working on occasionally. I also have Dragon Ruins 2, for some casual play on occasion.

How have you found DT1? I personally found myself getting walled at each of the bosses... They didn't feel well balanced in the slightest. I ended up dropping the game a couple of bosses after the main story.

What did the head Librarian girl do for everyone to give her so much shit lol?

I really like the art and characters of DT2 and DT2-2, and played 2 for ~200 hours through postgame, but nearly dropped 2-2 because the gameplay is virtually identical to 2 with only minor changes equivalent to a balance patch. It's like DT2's post-post-game. The only reason I didn't drop it is because I could use cheat engine to max everyone's stats and breeze through the story. Thankfully I didn't have to grind subevents either because someone uploaded them all to Niconico.

Irena getting poked fun at for being an old hag never gets old. There's a subevent where the party finds a mirror that reveals a person's "true" identity, and once Irena realizes it shows her face without makeup she destroys it.

Yeah, I'd imagine going through the entirety of 2 just to hit a cliffhanger and then start all over again in 2-2 would be a killer. I'm really liking my time with it so far. I just beat the Siren girl so I'm still early on but I can remember already getting frustrated with the first game by around this time.
How much game is there though? Is it like a DT3 or does it have a shortened postgame? I know the first game you had I think like two separate tower dungeons to go through once you're done with the main one. Sub events are fun but I couldn't find any English versions. It's a shame cause I've played 2Heart and would probably have enjoyed many of the throwbacks

I remember dropping DT2 at the endgame, don't remember why exactly but I do remember the game just kinda feeling like a drag at that point.

For me it's Eltrucia.

play Dungeon and Bride it has stakes

I'm incredibly picky with Dungeon Crawlers... Etrian Odyssey has spoiled me on many aspects so I struggle a lot with more gritty ones like Wizardry or Sword City or even the Rance games when they actually push the crawling aspect.

Anything like one way heroics?

That's much more of a roguelike game than a dungeon crawler desu. Maybe half minute hero or something?

Nothing really. They just take a chance to poke fun at her.

Subevent grinding is pretty fun, but definitely needs a guide if you ever do.
>Irena getting poked fun at for being an old hag never gets old.
The magical girl subevent in 2-2 is pretty fun, Fried is pretty unhinged there.

Just got it, what class is the best?
>>
>>738552214
>How have you found DT1?
Boring, honestly. Wandering around floors is either trivial or just kills you outright, little middle ground.

>>738552214
>I personally found myself getting walled at each of the bosses
Bosses are unfairly tough. A lot of the time, they'll just go and wipe out your party if things go badly. I haven't run into anything that completely stopped me yet.

Overall, I'm disappointed with the game. I hear that DT2 and DT2-2 are better, and I'm sticking with it to see how good they all are in comparison. Overall, I find the maps dull, the fights dull, and the classes worst than Etrian Odyssey so wouldn't recommend. But I want to finish DT1 before making a final statement about it.

my game crashed so much i couldn't play it anymore. I was having so much fun too.

Actually good in Free Mode. It's frustrating to play in NTR mode, I haven't even bothered to get halfway thru it.

>what class is the best?
Lord, Spellblade, Thief into Assassin, Bard, and Alchemist into Bishop have worked out the best.
Your Lord can take hits for everyone and there's a way to make them basically invincible. Spellblade has instakill, Thief is for chests and can instakill as Assassin, Bard is kind of broken with a few different instruments. Alchemist is very useful early on (item identify and repair) and once you get 9 in all spell levels, you can swap them to Bishop and have access to all spells.

Past that, Valkyrie is extremely good. I'm not sure if I just rolled unusually well, but I have one with nearly max STR and SPD toward the end of the game. Summoner can be ridiculously good as well, at least enough to get the Cold Wisp, and you can class change after that.

Other options are fine (there's apparently an item that can change a Fighter into a Lord, for example) but that's probably the best party you can get with the game. Feel free to fuck around a bit if you like. It's not that hard of a game once you figure things out, and you can certainly use suboptimal equipment and classes if you like.

This is one of the few genres I could never warm up to for some reason, I just can't stand them, you're right about them having cute girls though, I was trying out dungeon travelers 2-2 when I decided the genre just wasn't for me

everything's just static, i tried Refrain which was ok but meh... dull... boring...

From what I've seen from people that enjoy them, they like the map-making aspect, running into walls and building out the structure inside your head and stuff, It felt like work to me but to the people that enjoy it its like crack apparently

Is Class of Heroes worth it?

To me, the biggest sin of the genre is the lack of interactions with the dungeons themselves. They are all just empty corridors with only different tiles and wallpapers to distinguish the stratum/level/biome. Rogue classes can't lockpick doors/chests and dismantle traps. Fighter classes can't smash a door/breakable walls and jump across fissures. Mage classes can't freeze water to make walkable surfaces and dispell wards.

The only one I stuck with for any length of time was Etrian Untold 2, 4, and 5 to varying degrees. A lot of that was only because it was well paced they still had balance problems and very lame gameplay overall.
