It has potential, exploring the castle was fun and flying around was enjoyable. I'm glad this was a hit.
I liked the Castle and I liked the combat, everything dealing with the open-world and story sucked ass.I hope they drop the whole "Ancient Magic" thing, it was so dumb.

It was fun, but if you're like me and tend to persist on the same save instead of starting a new game, you'll find that you'll run out of things to do outside of going around killing shit in the Scottish Highland. PC version has mods at least
>>738552469Not every game needs dlc, it is ok to sell the full hamburger too. And sequel is already being produced.
>>738551194I kinda shitty games fun and while the it was solid and polished, I was kind of boring. I felt they went too safe and tame to becoming the kind of wizard you wanna be. Seeing everything is cool but exploring for stuff was boring. Keep spamming the same spells over and over then wandering over to where there might be something. Wasn't really fun. I did mod it to be more fun when it came out. Funniest mod was making SIRona Ryan sound like a woman instead of the man who voiced her lol. I remember the backlash of that mod.
>>738561578damn, that's a fire looking mod. when I uninstalled HL mods were still 90% outfits.
>>738560410You are the biggest faggot I've encountered here in a long time and that's saying something.
It was Ubislop, but I genuinely think it had some of the best variety when it came to exploration and introducing new activities. At least compared to the Sony games I've played like Ghost of Tsushima. Too bad enemies were a different story, and the game felt rushed by the end. The one thing I appreciated was hearing NPCs in the open world reference my actions, that makes the "legacy" part of the title appropriate, though it would've been better as more of a proper RPG
>>738561908>feels attacked from a simple observationDidn't realize you were so sensitive.
>>738562771You're pathetic.
>>738561498I really don't know why they bothered making such an empty and far away region. Besides map discovery and mandatory quests, I didn't do anything there.

>>738551428>everything dealing with the open-world and story sucked ass.I mean I thought it was really nice flying around the scottish highlands, it would just be nice if you had more things to do out in the world besides a couple of puzzles. My biggest problem with the game was that even thought I played it for free with no real expectations, it becomes frustrating with all the missed opportunities. Like whats the point of a day/night cycle when it never actually matters? You can run around the school all hours and the only time a curfew is ever mentioned are in a total of TWO missions that are just shitty forced stealth. Or how they have all four houses, and spend time making the common rooms unique, only to have your house not matter one fucking bit. What a missed opportunity to not have a curfew, or teachers who can catch you misbehaving that would cause you to have detention, or lose points for your house which would effect your reputation with other students. You know, just the tiniest bit of reactivity from the game. And really, the whole time I was just imagining the Bully: Hogwarts game in my head that could have been so much better. Also the gear/equipment system was fucking trashola. The room of requirements was neat for a home base, but I really feel like it should have been integrated into the common room.
>>738551428ThisThe castle was fine but goddamn was the rest just barren
>>738551428>I hope they drop the whole "Ancient Magic" thing, it was so dumb.Blame JK Rowling for that. Ancient Magic was established all the way back in Sorcerers Stone as what saved Harry from Abra Cadabra
I liked this game and thought it was fun for what it was. I would definitely pre order a Hogwarts Legacy 2 made by the same people. Side bonus was getting the trannies to seethe.
>>738556019Yeah but the uncle was a jerk about it so I didn't mind killing him

>>738551194I want to love it, but seeing old timey Britain presented as a modern globalist mixing pot just reminds me of how bad actually modern Britain has gotten. A guy on a student Visa is a councillor. For fucks sake. And he hates white people, of course.
>>738556234Leviosaaaaaasaaaaaaaa
>>738557268Time period was fine, and its a little weird to dance around since the series takes place during the 90's, so current-day harry potter has to incorporate all the events of the books/movies. Setting it right before ventures into prequel territory, and since the wizarding world is old, you just go back far enough to be divorced from everything in the books/movies while still being able to exist in the world. And at least setting it in a period means you don't have obnoxious dated zoomer lingo hamfistedly jammed in there.
>>738551194My only issue was that there were zero ramifications for throwing around curses.
Really hoping the sequel will be a huge step up, though I am worried they're going to tie it in way too heavily to the reboot series.
>>738563853Didn't they announce that it was going to be a shitty live service grindfest instead of just polishing off the flaws of the first game and expanding on the assets they already have.

>>738562198I liked those sections, I don't know if I want to play a whole game of Take on Me, but it was a nice visual change of pace and fit the whole storybook flashback it was supposed to be. >>738564137I think it would have been best set in 1979, after the marauders graduated but before voldemort's first demise. That way you have a hogwarts and wizarding world that is still fully familiar to the player, that lets you have beloved teachers show up, and still lets you make up the overwhelming majority of the cast.In such a setup, you could easily slot in a plot about defeating a death eater's independent scheme while having all sort of drama within the school body.Or if that's too grim, early 80s: you might have a couple book characters among the students (Bill Weasley?), but it lets you have a much happier setting while retaining the death eater plot, Bellatrix vs Longbottoms style.Going 1900 is just too early for decent plotlines that don't rely fully on the writers like they're writing original work rather than fanfiction, and unsuprisingly they ended up with that ridiculously goblin & special snowflake magic plot.
Do you think the Ministry ever discovered all the Dark Wizard and Poacher bodies we left in our wake? There's hundreds of corpses across Scotland.
>>738564803Those are rookie numbers
im convinced anyone that liked this game never played the combat"hey we have a game with magic and unlimited potential to defeat enemies in a million ways how should we do combat?""uh just have them push a button to go 'pew pew pew' sparks from their wand until the enemy dies after 20 hits""...""that's not all! to show them that we COULD have given them cool spells, we will have a 'pew pew pew' meter, and if you pew pew 1,000 times, you get to cast ONE cool spell!""...""and it will look really cool. but its not like its some mega ultimate spell, it will just be like regular spells characters could use whenever they wanted in the book, but just actually used in cool ways to show we COULD have done stuff like that, but that we hate them"
>>738565139Cmon, combat is decent. I played the unforgivable curses build, and by the end of the game it was quite enjoyable, and the final Rockwell(?) fight was great.
>>738551194They should have had combat while flying, though
>>738552469The current strong rumor is after the sheer amount of money it made Warner Bros got more involved and wanted to have the sequel tie-in closely with the direction they want the series to go in from the TV series which is why we will only be hearing about it this year
>>738551194>>738551428Castle was depressing because you can't really interact with it or any of the students. It's more like a museum where you just watch NPCs interact with each other or little canned events play out that you don't participate in. It's crazy that just about every interactive mechanic (companions, house points, actual curfew) was cut out last second.

>>738551194eh it HAD potential and squandered all of it to make a generic open world slopathon with bad combat. >>738569887I believe is gonna tie-in directly into the hbo series, hence why it is set in the 90s. also it makes me curious if theyre gonna respect/re-use hogwarts design from the old movies, the game has it and it supossedly is considered set in the new hbo continuity.
