>I bought this because my child loves shooting games.>The exhilarating feeling of defeating enemy aircraft!>There are quite a few enemy parts that can be destroyed, and the pleasure of peeling off each part (destroying them) is very good!>The enemy will respond with a barrage of bullets like Arale the Rain, and the explosive system will give you a beautiful, refreshing feeling. Ok this looks like a shitpost thread but I was waiting for a new shmup thread so it will do. I'm the guy who was asking about EoSD before and I managed to bag the lunatic 1cc.
>>738553549wonder what he's up to now...
>>738555942Congrats that's huge, what's next
Im playing Crimzon Clover and a bar fills at the bottom screen, once it fills, it becomes red and it disqualifies my run. Does anybody know what to do to stop this?
>>738551456You can't just say 'perchance'.
>>738556981I think either Mystic Square or PCB. PCB looks like obviously the better game but someone I know really likes Mystic Square and I feel like the longer I put it off the harder it will be to go back to. Though first I want to run some normal modes of EOSD and actually do the Extra stage, which I have been told is not that hard.
>>738557068literally ask grok you fucking retard
>>738557127>PCB looks like obviously the better gameHave you played any of the PC-98 games before? Because they're honestly pretty dang good. Story of Eastern Wonderland Lotus Land are my favorites.
>>738557068I have no idea what that is but I'm guessing it's that fucky-wucky shit with the timer dropping the FPS below the acceptable threshold for too long. The fix was to restart your PC btw lmao.
>>738551456Akiragoya's artworks will make a fine addition to my collection, as soon as catbox stops being fucky
>>738558737You may be right. I guess I was just thinking shallowly in terms of stuff like having hitbox marker, higher production value, point of collection convenience, etc.
>>738559640I feel like the presentation of the PC-98 titles doesn't really shine through until you're playing the games for yourself for whatever reason, but get what you mean. PCB has this and it's the coolest shit ever when and where it starts playing as well as how it leads into the final boss's track.https://youtu.be/0AO_c6YQ_1I

Blazing Star is too hard for me.
i think shmups look cool but ive literally never cleared one before. i try out stuff like ddp doj or ketsui because that's what everyone else plays and just get bodied a few minutes in. what are some good babbys first 1cc games?
>>738564304If you want something easy to start with, Touhou Perfect Cherry Blossom on the lowest difficulty is a good starting point. Or Imperishable Night.
>>738564304Try Blazing Star easy as piss.
>>738564304>>738564703I would also REALLY recommend getting thprac and spending a second learning how to use its practice tools. Shmups go from chaotic confusion to something very learnable and sensible once you start practicing them segment by segment. Get Perfect Cherry Blossom, apply thprac, go into practice mode and then do each boss's spell card individually until you have a feel for them and can do them. Then it's "just" a matter of doing them back to back in a real run, so to speak. The trick is to not just throw yourself at the game, die to something random, then go ??? well I guess I wasn't good enough. You want to check the replay, see what you died to, identify pain points / sections you don't understand, learn them, practice them, THEN try again. Knowledge is a huge factor of these games, not just natural dodging ability.

What do the intellectual giants of /v/ shmup threads think of Shikhondo Blue Pieta?
>>738564304Mushihimesama is a great game and is approachable to 1CC on its easiest game mode. Gunbird is also fun and feasible to 1CC if you play as the red girl, her charge attack does a lot of damage and erases bullets.

>>738570089Yeah. I lost focus for a while, it was realizing it's been a month that made me start blasting out runs. This win came at the end of a 3 hour session with 2 deaths to Scarlet Gensokyo.
>>738570691>>738570089Sorry, I meant 2 prior runs that died to Scarlet Gensokyo. In the winning run I hit it with 0 lives 2 bombs and just had to let Jesus take the wheel.
Play shmups
>>738571129Outsiders don't understand that the gameplay is so dense you need to multiply all gametime by 3x because that's how locked in you get.
>>738571202Also that there is no end to playing them. You just keep doing it over and over, because it's fun.
>>738571354one thing about the non steam games I never know how long I've really played them. If I had to guess my playtime for this it would have been way off.
>>738571547Yeah, the times are really off. I just kind of use it as a very rough guide. I've seen it before where a game is registering as being played way after the fact, or it thinks it wasn't played at all. In general, my shmup times seem about right. After beating everything on normal, I pretty much play each once a month (a lot to get through). At that rate, I've gotten I think all on hard mode (except special final level in Cosmo Dreamer) and an okay amount of Very Hard/Lunatics.It's hard to tell. Been playing this stuff for like 10 years. Also, CC is way good. Too bad anything past normal is a visual mess.
>>738551456Where's their pants
>>738564304doj is already one of the easier 1ccs but you could try the novice modes or 2hu>>738565363This game bodies me from stage 2 even though I've been shmuppin for a decade or so. It's like none of your legacy skill carries over into it lmao
Mushihimesama is hard. The bullets are too fast. Playing on an OLED Deck.
>>738572741A good shmup player doesn't move very much.
>>738564304Every newbie should play Devil Blade Reboot. It's easy, frenetic and it looks and sounds amazing.
