Where should we draw the line between what is a video game and what is a movie?
awww little chuddy mad at the 10/10 game????
>>738559105>buy moviestation 5>watch movieswoooow
>>738559105The only reason you even care about Mixtape is because of the IGN review, otherwise you never would've known it existed.
>>738559105if you can watch a youtube video and get 90% of the same experience it's not a video gameI can watch playthroughs of VNs on youtube and basically get the same experienceI can't watch playthroughs of halo on youtube and basically get the same experience
>>738559105The problem isn't visual novel and walking sim gameplay. It's the content. >Pic relatedIt's mainly holding forward and clicking one button. But it's about your daughter wife. So it's kink
>>738559713Kino*
>>738559713>>738559735No no, "kink" checks out.
>>738559105I'm playing Anthology of the Killer, a walking sim, and I'm enjoying it because the vibes and the writing are good.Mixtape gives me hives looking at it, it's 2010's nostalgia pinging for the 80's, but set in the 90's. It's the most coporatized version of indie as an aesthetic.
>>738559105So it has the same controls as Balan Wonderworld.
>>738559105Do you win / lose the game because you are good / bad at a certain (set of) skill(s)? Its a game.Do you win / lose the game because of pure RNG? It's gambling (note that something with heavy RNG like poker is legally a game of skill).Does winning or losing simply not happen? It's a visual novel or interactive software.
>>738559105if we say its a 10/10 interactive movie would you stop crying about it?
The better question is how and why are so many people attracted to every part of games except the part that makes them stand out as a medium?
>>738559105To be fair, this game is aimed at aging late gen X, early millennial gamers who still bother with the dying linear movie like game genre. Gen Z and Gen alpha won't bother making these types of games anymore mostly because they don't have the attention span to watch a full movie to copy one.
>>738559576If there's branching paths and hidden scenes then it's more fun to play through yourself, but from what I've seen this is a straight forward story
>>738559105who's 'we' and why should 'we' care?
