Not surprised that /v/ is mostly talking about this game coming out of nowhere to high reviews, but the only thing that annoys me while skimming through those threads is the prevalent opinion I keep seeing that a game apparently isn't allowed to have high reviews if it isn't a certain genre, doesn't have a massive advertising campaign pre-release or doesn't have high enough steam chart numbers.I sometimes like these kinds of story-heavy, gameplay-light games (Heavy Rain comes to mind), but I don't really have any interest in Mixtape due to the era of nostalgia it's pandering to is before my time. That being said, I do appreciate the last couple years where these smaller indie (if it actually is indie, that term gets used very loosely these days imo) titles with more unique styles and gameplay seem to be getting more of the critical praise over the more factory made AAA GOTY-bait stuff. My delusional hope is that studios will look at stuff like Mixtape getting such praise and realize that betting their farms on these bloated vidya projects that take 10+ years to come out isn't worth it anymore, and we get a revival of weird AA Games being the majority.

Just beat the game, 10/10 is a good score for it. I laughed, I cried, I had fun. This is the only type of game that elevates video games as a medium and uses interactivity in order to enhance the experience and makes you feel more in tune with the characters and the story. Definitely one of the best games of the year. Honestly dont understand why are all the niggers are chimping out about it but thanks for shilling it to me I really loved it.
