I think honestly AI can now be used to make animated sprites for 2D HD anime videogames.
>>
>inb4 nortubel
>>
>>738573601
If that's the case you might want to retry that because it's out of proportion, perspective and even outfit in every single frame.
>>
okay, then do it. make a game with ai animated sprites
>>
What model is this? people were already saying that with nanobanana 2.5 and it turned out to be pretty trash so idk if we're there yet
>>
>>738573601
Yeah it "can" be in the same sense that you """can""" just spend 3 seconds drawing stick figure in mspaint and use that. Like, it's physically possible to do that but it will sell like shit because AI art is still instantly identifiable to the eye as AI art and people will not pay money for something that's visually obviously AI sloppa except for maybe some broke indians will pirate it

Illustrious with a character lora and IPadapter and controlnets.

Need to test if I can combine it with animatediff.
>>
>>738573738
I'm more curious to see if it can do anything that isn't human first, try doing a dragon or a spaceship
>>
>>738573601
Doesn't look consistent at all.
>>
Ai is basedest thing happened to gaming
Gaming is saved bros
>>
>>738573601
It can't maintain consistency because it doesn't have a concept of what that means.
>>
>>738573601
It might be possible if an AI was specifically made for sprite animations. It would likely still have random shit popping in and out of existence as the animation progresses because AI doesn't understand continuity.
>>
>>738573601
The foundations are already here, but owned by different AI corporate entities that have their own limitations. In theory though, with the right tools and team, it can be done. For example, I can use grok to make a high school girl like picrel and then...

I can tell grok to turn her around 360 degrees. Now I have a reference point for a range of other AIs to do their thing and create all the assets I need to prompt a game.

that image anon posted kind of gives you the idea, only I don't think these /v/ threads are actually made by him, since I've never seen him reply. I figure he's some autist from some other board that another unnamed schizo is using as a content farm.

>>
>>738574387
>nortubel
I'm not exactly sure but from what I've seen, it's the title of a game someone here is making. The creator posts about it in random threads. The character designs are really bad and the art looks like something from deviantart.
>cris
A failed game dev who has started dozens of projects but hasn't finished a single one. A lot of his threads follow the same few templates where he talks about how great AI is, his plans for future games while avatarfagging with cat images, or his artwork. He's been doing this on /v/, /a/, and /ic/ for over a decade. Here's his youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@ca3games/videos

>>738573601
No, not really. AI can make very nice standalone sprites but if you try to animate them they will not be consistent with eachother, both in color and detail. Both things could be fixed if you know what you're doing but it would still take a lot of time.

Thank you, rarely can anyone give a straight answer and that sucks because I love hearing about freaks :)

the other is a combolion balding 30 year old that keeps changing projects and never finished a game while blogposting pretentious shit and acting like he's smarter than other /agdg/ devs

That's not horrible but it still has the issues I described. Tiny dragon's teeth and claws are sometimes green or white. Knight's helmet would need to be manually copypasted over every sprite. The sword looks awfully bendy in that crouching attack.
The only way AI assisted sprite animation might work is through 3D models or by pilfering motion from videos. You asked the AI for a basic bitch walking animation. A sword swing. Great. Now try getting something like Chun Li's spinning bird kick. Try tard wrangling it into Terry's Buster Wolf. You can't.
>>
>>738576479
The thing about AI or any new tools is, the reason why someone wants to use it usually determines the kind of quality you'd be able to get in the end. If the main reason is to cut cost or take shortcuts, you can bet they won't be able to go far. Just like 3DCG anime, some ended up really good (eg: Land of the Lustrous) because the artists purposely chose that to see what kind of stuff they could make and they'll pull through regardless, whereas others (like EX:ARMS, Berserk) is dogshit because the main reason the studio uses it is to cut cost. So the staffs behind that project is taking as much shortcut as they could to keep the cost down. Cris is using AI because he's a talentless hack with no passion of his own, no technical knowledge in the arts he indulge in, but still likes to pretend he's an artist. A 3D artist or a general artist would be able to look at services like Meshy.AI or Tripo3D and see the potential and also limits of these tools since it's their bread and butter. Cris can't. Tbf tho I've created some T-pose of random enemy mobs in SD and then throw them into Tripo3D to create a quick and dirty 3D model where then I use to play around with animating. It works enough for playing around in Maya or Blender, but towards the end I'd still model the characters myself in the end if I am sure that's the model I'm going with.
>>
>>738578753
But they generate sprite sheets, it's not 3D or video.
>>
>>738578753
I think a lot of these AI tools are still very gimmicky and lacking in controls. So it's more like a toy than an actual tool since you'd be wasting time with proompting and retrying. If it were me, I'd just take >>738577814 this guy's main frame, polish it and just cut and splice it into Spine2D/Live2D and animate them myself instead of retrying the 100th time. Or throw it into Tripo3D, animate them in 3D and then rotoscope it or whatever.
>>
>>738573601
Where are they then?
>>
fuck off cris also kill yourself cris
how are you not bored of years doing nothing yet
>>
>>738578864
These looks like shit. No offense man. Well if your standards are that low I guess it's fine to you then.
>>
>>738578864
I know. The sprite sheets still need work for the reasons I described. Tossing an AI sprite into an AI video animator will usually look pretty good, but turning those frames back into sprites (as in something that sticks to a grid and respects a color palette) is where consistency issues pop up, even at low strength and even using ControlNet.
When I say 3D I mean making a bunch of renders with different poses and tossing those into SD. At least that way you're in control of what the animation should look like and can account for every pose and sprite you'll need.

>>
>>738574285
The tools are almost there
AI just needs some more time on the oven, this shit was prematurely aborted the attosecond big corpos realized they could make money out of it, or even worse, that someone ELSE could make money out of it so they rushed to the abortion room to try and take control of it as soon as possible while it still has large unsolved issues like consistency and hallucinations.
Imagine if it was let cook for 5 more years before being forced on the shelves, and you could just say:
>Clanker, make me a minecraft mod that makes an item, which teleports me to the token's previous position and plants a token where I was before teleporting
And it just fucking does, without helicopter overseeing the whole thing and 2 hours of troubleshooting

Why not use controlnets
>>
>>738573601
True, if you do it well nobody will even know it's AI
>>
If not for luddites we could have an old school Renaissance. Imagine old sprite games but with a gorillion more sprites and character portraits. Imagine being able to edit your character portrait as the game progresses adding scars and whatnot. Imagine you being able to create a portrait of your character and hanging it on the wall of your player home.

Imagine Morrowind's dialogues but they use AI so you can have simple conversations with the npcs. (20 messages per convo at most so that they won't break immersion)

This is already possible. Back then there was tracing and blatantly stealing sprites or using 3d then spriteifying it. It's a cheap trick, but it can produce a fuckton of content.

It will be glitchy. It won't be perfect. But fuck bitching bitches. It rarely was perfect back then.
>>
>>738573601
Can it even output different views with the exact same focal length? Or orthographic at least?

I don't know these
>>
>>738581908
And don't get me started on sound effects. Finally we won't need to recycle every single sound effect or produce something cheap/bad. Many royalty free sound sets simply suck. And a lot of greedy fucks are forcing you to buy sound DLCs that cost 10 bucks for a shitty sound pack for your free rpg maker game.

Everyone’s releasing their indie games and making it and Cris is still on level one
>>
>>738579715
>Noo, you can't be a one man army, only if you have money you should make games.
You literally can. Add AI slop as placeholders until you find either funds or people who get shit done. Worst case scenario you still finish your game. Best case you attract attention and people join your project.
