To be fair, I do think the gameplay is a lot better than the first game.
But I'm disappointed that it's in no way related to the first Code Vein and that they recant that it's related to God Eater in any way.

Also, Zenon is the best character in Code Vein II.

I honestly liked CV2 but it's clear Bamco hadn't put their thinking caps on. It didn't need to be open world in the slightest, especially as a lot of the time travel sequences place you into a relatively fenced-off segment of the map.

They made an open world without having the environmental artists / budget they'd need to do a proper job of it. Clearly there was a deliberate effort to copy Elden Ring but ER's open world works because Fromsoft have godlike concept artists who can make gorgeous looking vistas so the purpose of the open world is to allow you to ride around and gawp at all the scenery. Meanwhile more than 80% of CV2's open world looks like procedurally generated goop hills with flat lighting and asset store props. Anyone who saw the first game would have been able to tell you that this team doesn't have the talent necessary to make an impressive open world environment but they went and did it anyway

I don't think it's even a bad idea mechanically, the concept behind the time travelling within an open world area and seeing the changes you made in the past take shape is solid, it's just that it shows up how amateurish they are artistically
