>It's called Wiii Motion Plus!>....>......>..........>WII MOTION PLUS!!
Wii would like to play
>>738582398Who had the worse E3, 2008 Nintendo or 2013 Microsoft?
It's incredible how the Wii technically sold the most but ended up basically irrelevant. Don't think that's ever happened before or since.
Still waiting on that wii heart rate sensor
>>738582398This thing made the controllers what they were promised to be on launch
>>738582632remember stanley mugs?
>>738582398What a scam, there's barely any game that even supports wii motion plus, for 99% of the library it does literally nothing, it's registered as a regular wiimote. And then you have skyward sword that requires it.
>>738582398Only Skyward Sword and Red Steel 2 actually used it wellhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_Wii_MotionPlus
>>738583147Wrong, you got duped.
Wii was a missed opportunity, if the controllers were Oculus Quest/Index style, then I genuinely think motion controls would have become a standard in gaming. The tech existed at the time, but the wii controller was too much of a prototype for what should have been pic related. The N64 controller is the same, back trigger and analogue stick are great ideas, but it was strapped to the worst controller of all time.
>we shipped the controller with missing advertised features pay for this device to unlock them lol lmao.
>>738583226I do. I also remember they have lead in them. Fuck that. But I was talking about consoles anon
>>738583309too bad SS is SHIT
>>738583493Nintendo wanted everything to be cheap so they could sell the console at a profit. Which is why the Wii was underpowered and the Wiimote lacked basic features and they later sold you the addon. I don't know why anons love to bring the fact Nintendo sells everything at a profit up. Just tells you that they're the greediest.
>>738583493>it was strapped to the worst controller of all time. How? It's ergonomic and the buttons feel good to press. It's better than the shitty Dreamcast controller.
>VR hasn't moved past this technologyGive me irl SAO already, shitheads.
>>738583853nta, DC controller is one of the worst in general so not a great comparison. But I agree that the N64 controller is fine, thing is overhated. Though I disagree that the buttons feel good to press. I wish they had more travel. They feel a bit too shallow for me.
>>738583892you're not gonna get full dive VR until we have chips inside our brains
>>738583356Nope
>>738583309And wii sports resort
>>738583309And Wii Fit.
I still can't believe they never made a lightsaber game for the wii.
>>738584245No More Heroes is the closest you'll get.
>>738584245I had a TV plug in starwars rail "shooter" that came with a lightsaber that you oriented to block attacks and attack backit was fucking hardgeneral grevious and his 4 sabers was fucking bullshit
>>738582632The Wii lost to underagedban American poors getting brainwashed by Microsoft. The 360 deliberately ruined PC controller APIs and made their awful controller cheap as dirt, all the while knowing that the gaming industry is directed by pirating poorfags, not console consoomers. The path of least resistance was the widespread adoption of the worst controller.
>>738582632>ForgottenI don't think we'd have any motion shit or VR controllers if not for the Wii
>>738584832The Wii was never going to win over the core gaming crowd. Stop being delusional. Nintendo went full casual with the Wii, the reason it sold the most is because it was a Wii Sports machine for 90% of owners. Same reason why you could completely ignore the system and miss zero of the 7th gen defining titles.
>>738584870That tech already existed. Motion controls outside of using them for VR are dead. Also, the word forgotten never showed up in the post.
>>738584916The Wii barely had any decent third party exclusives and it had the worst versions of multiplats or even worse completely different games with the same nome
>>738584832>The 360 deliberately ruined PC controller APIsUsing controllers on PC before Xinput became the standard was not fun
>>738584916Every console went full casual. The "core audience" is just tween casuals with delusions of grandeur that could be won over with a "your mom hates this game" ad campaign. The wii may have been half-baked, but the 360 controller is equally incapable of playing modern games without holding the player's hand and gaslighting them into thinking that they're not just LARPing. You would miss zero of the good 7th gen defining titles if you skipped every single console, all of the good games were on PC.
>>738585097Total meme, likely inspired by Microsoft deliberately fucking up how the 360 controller worked under DirectInput.
>>738585138>every console went casualWrong. And certainly not to the extent Nintendo did with the Wii.>>738585045Yeah. That's why you could skip it if you wanted to. Even most of the Nintendo franchises got worse on it. Smash sucked, Zelda sucked. Only Mario and Metroid were good.
>>738585307>Wrong look they had blood, guns and my favorite metal band. It's not casual.Literally the only difference was bing bing wahoo and a one-year age gap in the audience going children to preteens. All consoles started shipping games that played themselves and had journo difficulties.
>>738585486Despite the fact that 7th gen had a wave of casual shooters, it also had a lot of great games that were not on the Wii. In fact the 7th gen has some of the best games ever. The Wii has Super Mario Galaxy, maybe a few others. You could skip it entirely and many did.
>>738583309SS used motion controls extremely poorly. You'd be forgiven for thinking that it was a launch title developed by a third party that had only heard second-hand accounts of the Wii.>>738585595And yet you've named more games worth playing on the Wii than any of the other consoles, curious.Yes obviously I would say that anything you name is casual or a PC title, don't feel pressured to actually name any.
>>738585802Lmfao. You're genuinely delusional. I didn't name anything because I couldn't be bothered. I don't care what you label "casual", I've probably played and enjoyed more obscure stuff than you've played games in total. Anyways, here's some of the 7th defining kino the Wii never got and is why it's irrelevant:>Demon's Souls (BTFOs everything on the Wii by itself)>Dark Souls>Dragon's Dogma>Dragon Age Origins>Way of the Samurai 3/4>Yakuza>Deus Ex Human Revolution>BioShock 1/2>Prototype>inFamous 1/2>Batman Arkham City>Fallout 3>New Vegas>Oblivion>Skyrim>Earth Defense Force 2017/2025>Bayonetta>Vanquish>Metal Gear Rising>Deadly Premonition>Ninja Gaiden II>Lost Odyssey>Red Dead Redemption / Undead Nightmare>LA Noire>GTA IV>God of War 3 / Ascension>Armored Core For Answer>Dead Rising / Dead Rising 2>Mass Effect>Dead Space>Dishonored>X-COM>Catherine>Portal>Left 4 Dead>Half Life 2The Wii had a few good games, a few obscure gems that sold like shit + Wii Sports and then mountains of shovelware and inferior ports. There's a reason it had the image it did, it wasn't microsoft, it was Nintendo going for the fucking grandma and non-gamer crowd. It's really telling you hate to admit that the Wii was indeed a casuals first system. One need only look at 2008's E3 where they ignored other games in favor of gimmicks.
>>738586496Just like I promised I'm still going to have to point out that most of these games are PC titles or significantly more casual titles than their various predecessors.7th gen was casualization across the board, the only real difference for Nintendo was tone, that's not a defence of Nintendo just acknowledgement that every console wanted the normalfag audience.>E3You can point and laugh at presentations from any of the major console companies.
>>738589006>PC titlesMost of them are NATIVELY console games and the PC versions were ports, lmao. In fact it's only the Valve games that were PC games first.Yeah, it was casualized across the board, but there were plenty of exceptions, and none casualized as much as Nintendo did with the Wii, that's the difference. Nintendo went not for the core normalfag GAMER, they went for literal NON-GAMER normalfags. That's a huge difference.
>>738589006>>738585802literally who the fuck cares if the games were also on PC, that doesn't disprove anything. What a weird ass hang up.
>>738582398Not E3, but remember when Nintendo's only "big" announcement for the Game Awards was that Cranky Kong was playable in Tropical Freeze? Then it leaked beforehand, and everyone thought>Surely this can't be ALL they havebut it was, and Geoff just kept pressing Reggie about how lame it was that they had nothing else, to the extent that Reggie was visibly annoyed as hell? Can't find the clip where they were directly talking about Cranky, but I remember Reggie "jokingly" telling Geoff that he wants to beat him with a stick lolhttps://youtu.be/CfF_Qgg0cvs?si=cpX2oCgbOh41Lbn5
>>738589883That's hilarious. Literally fucking nothing. I totally missed this. Dorito Pope did good. Also, who was that fag asking for a damn sports game from Nintendo of all companies? Is he retarded? Nintendo sports games are all cartoony, he's not going to get genuine niggerball.
>>738589883>it's great talking about the Seahawks butlol
>>738582632>ended up basically irrelevantYeah, so irrelevant that new games were still being made for it even in 2014/150
>>738592161Shovelware and fifa don't count, anon.
>>738582632>irrelevantWii motion technology still seen in switch 2 joy cons.Wii motion made Sony implement the gyro shit.
>>738592523It's absolutely irrelevant as a library of games.
>>738583853the dreamcast controller really isn't too bad, bonus points for using hall effect sticks too. dreamcast controllers survived the test of time, n64 ones were defeated by a weekend of mario party.
>>738589883This is probably the reason Nintendo is a no show at TGAs and Summer Games Fests, outside of third party Smash DLC announcements.
>>738592617the dpad cuts your thumb on the DC and the stick is rough too
Why didn't the kinect and playstation eye catch on?
>>738593101waggle and motion control shit was just a passing fad and everyone had already had their fill with the wii.
>>738584957VR had motion controls decades ago
>>738586496I remember not having a console since ps1. Then finding /v/ and falling for the Wii is the greatest console ever made shills. Holy shit I never believed anything /v/ said after that.
>>738593101The concept of having an always-on camera in your house was sketchy as fuck and the best Marketing had to say was "don't worry about it lmao"
>>738593101The people into it moved to other things while the real gamers who played on PlayStation and Xbox with real HD graphics and games for gamers hung around and voiced their displeasure and reluctance. Plus devs didn't know what to do with Kinect or PS Move (just like they don't know what to do with PS VR or any VR for that matter) and so instead of putting in resources and R&D (or just having a near idea) to make something cool for the new technology, they disregarded it or shit on it hoping they can just keep doing the same thing they've been doing for decades and profit from that instead. It worked! Now we're here eagerly awaiting the PlayStation 6, Xbox Helix and have fallen in love with the many amazing offerings of the Nintendo Switch 2!
>>738593614/v/ has always been heavily pro-Nintendo so that doesn't surprise me. But yeah if you only had a Wii that gen you missed the entire generation basically. The 360 and PS3 were popping off.
I don't like playing using anything other than D-pad and buttons. I understand why analogs exist but I rarely play 3D games. I believe gyro and any form of motion control detracts from gaming
>>738583836>Nintendo sells everything at a profit upOf course they do, it's a business, not a charity.
>>738593614I remember /v/ and everyone else shitting on the Wii all generation long save for maybe the launch year of the Wii. Nogaems and Waggleshit were the two phrases that got tossed around for PS3 and Wii respectively. PS3 eventually got going after the Kevin Butler ads came out but the Wii only ever kept getting shit on more and more.In what world did people love the Wii online? In the real world and in Nintendo specific places like Nsider2 and forums like that, sure. But outside of that, hardcore gamers absolutely hated the Wii.
>>738582632>Irrelevant>Childhood for a generation, countless classics, new hit series like Xenoblade, motion and aim still used today, ushered adults back into gaming and young kids into being fans, still one of the best consoles to mod, controllers used in the next gen as well, kept companies alive by having an option other than HD gaming that takes years and tens of millions to make

>>738594853Why are you talking about the Wii U? We're discussing the Wii.
>>738594853>Pokepark>lego star wars>last story>zack and wikiAll mediocre.
>>738594853>gimmick flail and waggleshit>gamepad gimmick shitYou should be playing phone games with the other casuals. If it were up to you, the Switch would be some other gimmick shit instead of an actually good (for Nintendo standards) device. Nobody like that shit but casuals like you.
>no games>post games>no those dont countevery time
>>738596318>post games>games are mostly mediocre and forgettablelol
>>738585097Xpadder saved my ass back then.
>>738584136>Let me get this straight, you think Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are some of the funnest games you've ever played?>I do, and I'm tired of pretending that they aren't.
>>738582398I liked the Wii because I could play it with friends and family and we'd all have a good time.
>>738597723Yeah, that's what it's used for. Playing games with your non-gamer family.
