Force yourself. Usually it's the initial hurdle that's the hardest to get ove.r
>>
You have no meaning in your life and you don't find it in video games. Sorry but you're going to have to find something else, or just waste away forever.
>>
>>738586371
Your body is burned out and used up.
Typical of the elderly.
Only slower paced things will entertain you now.
>>
>>738586371
impossible to enjoy games with the worry of no employment and no housing looming over you

The only game I've been able to boot up consistently has been Marathon, but I've done all the contracts, filled out most of the codex and killed the Compiler so I don't really have much reason to play at this point until season reset.
>>
>>738586371
It's actually harder for me to play when I'm unemployed cause I have bills to pay and I keep thinking I need a job. The only way I got over it was either having job or spending 5-8 hours a day applying for jobs or learning whatever you need for your dream job and then play at night

Morrowind
Just make sure to look up a guide on character creation otherwise you are good to go
>>
>>738586371
constantly having to learn new game mechanics is annoying. thats the biggest hurdle to playing. if you dont feel like doing that just one forever game and play that
>>
>>738586513
Just put the fries in the bag
>>
>>738587395
Character creation isn't that complex. However:
>stamina is important for hit chance, probably well known by now
>weapon damage ranges aren't random, they depend on how much you wind up your attack. A sword that does 1-50 damage will always do 50 damage if you fully wind up your attack
>install the expansion delay mod

Depression or ADHD
Starting a task that the brain anticipates will require any amount of effort involved activating a certain level of focus and doing that means breaking a dopamine barrier. People think dopamine is a pleasure chemical - it's not. It's a priming chemical that activates focus and essentially tells the brain "this activity will be rewarding, get to it."
In depression, among other issues, the brain tends to be very low on endogenous dopamine which is why depressed people can't seem to find motivation. Without abundant dopamine the brain doesn't see any task as worth doing.
In ADHD the dopamine threshold for focus is insanely high, which makes it extremely hard for patients to begin or change tasks and also results in "hyperfocus" where the brain zooms in hard on the task at hand to the exclusion of all else.

Either way the short-term fix is as simple as some strong coffee, but a long-term fix is tougher.

Maybe you just don't really like games? When I play games I have to peel myself away from the computer, I forget to do things like eating. Like all you did was list a wall of rpg garbage, of course it's boring, those aren't even real video games. Like what did you even want this thread to be? I don't want to hear about you playing boring games you don't even really like. Just don't post lol and go do something else.

>>738591012
I was diagnosed with adhd like 20 years ago and don't take anything for it and I play games just fine. Playing batrider right now and I can sit down and play it for like 6 hours straight no sweat. Depression is not video games, if you're so depressed stop making threads and go download grindr. This is not my problem. Let your new sugar daddy take care of it.
>>
>>738587921
disturbingly factual take on adhd
What weirds me out is that it feels like it has gotten way worse over the years. I'm 32 and can barely enjoy games anymore unless it's mmos where I'm being social.

Literally all studies on ADHD cite video games as an exception to the rule and talk about how people with even severe ADHD will focus on games for hours at a time with ease.
>>
>>738591878
ok, can you cite a single one?
>>
>>738591253
>I was diagnosed with adhd like 20 years ago and don't take anything for it and I play games just fine
Ok? Do you think you're saying something here because you're not.
>I can hyperfocus on my fixation for 6 hours!
Yes, that's typical ADHD behavior. You're still not saying anything. Symptoms present radically differently for everyone and clearly OP doesn't have a game that starts hyperfocus.
>Depression isn't video games
Cool story dipshit.
>>738591878
They don't cite them as "exceptions" you fucking idiot, games can be highly stimulating/rewarding activities which means in some cases they're able to break that increased dopamine barrier and cause hyper-focus.

You people can't fucking read.

NTA but
https://texaspsychiatrygroup.com/blog/adhd-and-gaming-addiction/
Looks like adhd not only doesn't make gaming more difficult, but also makes it more likely a person will play games competitively or for score. Which makes sense since OP said he was only interested in playing marathon.

So the solution is not to play boring story games, it's to find healthier dopamine mills than bungie loot box farms.

I wish I had a McJobbie so I could buy full priced games without feeling horrible even if its to play 1hr per day.

Nobody said ADHD "makes gaming more difficult" you fucking stooge. I described the basic mechanism by which ADHD makes starting ANYTHING more difficult. The dopamine release for an anticipated activity differs from person to person and activity to activity, with a general pattern of gaming being more stimulating and thus providing more dopamine than random shit like chores.
You're not only failing to understand what I said and how ADHD works, you're also completely ignoring the fact that watching a youtube video requires vastly less dopamine to begin than starting up a game.

You're being very stupid for no reason.

Looking for a trusted source that you can rely on is the exact opposite of a use case for AI. If it didn't hallucinate or give you random bullshit some of the time then I'd agree with you, but that's obviously not the case. It's convenient and free which is nice but the hallucination and giving you random bullshit problem disqualifies it from this sort of thing.
>but but but it doesn't do it all the time-
it does it enough that you can't rely on it without already having the pubmed subscription so it's honestly useless outside of spitting a random study name at people you don't think will double-check you.

you know that youre a loser and dont deserve to enjoy things. when you have worked for things and lived a full and varied life, you will value gaming so much more. The most devout gamers I know are all older millennials and Gen Xers with wives and kids and fulltime careers, but these guys all make time for gaming. They may not have as much time as you, but these guys actually care about gaming and fucking love it when they get time to dig in.

Fix yourself. Then play games.

Watching other people play games is no different from watching another man fuck your wife, or watching some hung chad/tyrone demolish the type of woman you're attracted to. You know internally that you are a beta, know you cant actually beat video games the same way you cant actually make a woman's pussy cum. And so you watch real men play games and watch real men fuck pussy like you cant.

This kind of behavior is what causes people to be unable to enjoy things

Soon you'll need weed, porn, music, video games, and a documentary just to feel mildly entertained if you keep acting like that
