Mixtape is getting a theatrical release

As if there was ever any doubt

How long is it, 3 hours?
>>
>>738592342
it would fail as a film cause this shit stopped being novels decades ago. They were already making films about the post-vietnam teenaged zeitgeist... IN THE 80'S. Fast Times at Ridgemont High came out in 1982.

Films have long since trod this ground and done more interesting things and touched more interesting themes. I probably sound like an old man screaming at a cloud, saying paintings have been doing this shit for centuries and films are dumb. But the difference is the vidya medium is inherently interactive, and I feel like these film games are dishonest.
>>
>>738591884
There's actually less gay shit in this game. There's 1 scene of hand holding between the girls and the implications of feelings left unsaid. But otherwise they talk about dating boys.
>>

>A toyline was announced
>Several tie-in comic books are being made

This may be the biggest game of the decade

easiest to have a career in because legacy media refuses to adapt to modern times so you still have to go through the (((Network))).
Really, Valve need to just establish "Interactive Media" as an official genre so they don't have to leech off video games.

didn't Concord try this shit too?

this game should be studied
>>
>>738591792
this confirms it. the game was made by theatre school kids who dont give a fuck about gaming. this was their backdoor entry way to make movies

Imagine being an aspiring indie dev with a father willing to pay for development and what you end up making is this barely-even-a-game slop. To say these people have bad taste in vidya is an understatement. This is the game of their dreams? The game they fantasised about making since their childhood? THIS?!

You'd think after video games being the primary medium driving culture for 30 fucking years people who think they're inferior to movies would be fucking dead and buried. Most males under 30 love video games and don't care about movies so truly what the fuck gives.

They're different things entirely.

Metal Gear Solid wouldn't work well as a movie, for example. All the interactivity, the codec calls, the meta references, and the pacing would just be gone entirely... leaving the boring and stock action movie plot bare for all to see. Even the boss fights would translate horribly since almost all of them use some cool gameplay feature to make them (swapping controller ports, sniping, running and gunning at the same time, fighting indirectly with mines, a tocket launcher duel with a giant robot and a Hind D, etc).
>>
>>738594331
Yeah I don't know, my guess is they take the longer times and just call them completionnist.
>>
>>738594409
Turning boss fights into choreographed action sequences is what Hollywood should be able to do best. Hell, the Hind D fight already has half the work done.
>>
>>738591792

I thought most leftists who were against GG quietly admitted they were wrong thanks to Israel proving everything we said about media collusion and control to have been 100% fact.
>>

>leftists
>admitted they were wrong
lmao no
At most they pretend they discovered it for themselves and nobody ever realized before
>>
>>738594791
The reaction isn't because of the game itself, it's because of the journalists talking about it.
When a game starts getting an endless stream of 10s, people get suspicious and have higher standards when they check what the game is.
Do you honestly believe this shit deserves 10 after 10 after 10 for being a 3 hour walking sim about being gay in leftist suburbia?
>>
>>738594487
In the end, most MGS boss fights have you shooting them multiple times in a back and forth battle. This can't happen in a movie since it will be laughable to watch Psycho Mantis get shot 10 times before he tries to make Meryl kill herself, as if the bullets don't work until his invisible HP bar is empty.

You can't just have the Hind D battle be Snake jumping on a missile and shooting Liquid once with a stinger missile. Or Ocelot being Snake and him running around pillars for 10 seconds before the Ninja shows up. Or Vulcan Raven running around as Snake plants claymore mines in his path.
They would all have to be fundamentally altered to be made into decent movie fight scenes.
>>
>>738595006
Leftists are not interested in truth, justice, or reality. Leftists are amoral. All they care is power and hedonism.
>>
>Or Ocelot being Snake

Does mixtape even have any player choice like in telltale games or that recent dispatch game? I know telltale games are more of an illusion of choice type thing but it was at least something that differentiated itself a bit from films/tv shows. But does mixtape even have that? Or is it just one long cutscene with a few QTEs now and again?

The conflation between MGS and moviegames needed to be cleared up years ago.

MGS4's problem was that it had fuckloads of cutscene time. It had great gameplay, just tons of cutscenes in between. That is not the same thing as these games that have shit/no gameplay on top of gratuitous cutscenes and dialogue hallways. And if you're just going on gameplay:cutscene time ratios, these ones still blow MGS4 out of the fuckin water.

And saying MGS as a whole franchise is moviegames is just incorrect. MGS4 was a standout in terms of cutscene time, even 5 doesn't come close.
>>
>>738595776
its 3 hours, you could reasonably play the whole thing and get a refund
>>
>can't even break 2,500 concurrent on Steam with all this insane shilling
lmao these toys aren't going to sell fuck all and nobody wants to pay to watch a playthrough of your 10fps characters waddling for 2 hours. This is disgusting.
>>
>>738593158
Fairly certain the absurdly positive reception to this is mostly fake. I doubt there's such a huge amount of people fawning over this game. Especially with the review scores, it seems pretty heavy handed that they're manipulating everything even if the game/story is okay. Getting real tired of these studios trying to put their hands in everything, when the medium of games is separate from shows for a fucking reason.
>>
>>738594496
>>738594746
Can an industry plant game also be good?
Cause the same publisher that published this game also published Outer Wilds (not to be confused with Outer Worlds) and that game is genuinely good.
>>
>>738592771
>the vidya medium is inherently interactive
this game isn't
it's as moviege as you can get
>>
>>738595921
>Can an industry plant game also be good?
Doesn't matter. Reject it out of principal.
>>
>>738591792
So they're finally moving it to the film category where it belongs
>>
>>738595921
>Can an industry plant game also be good?
Probably, but the label tends to stick only if the game is bad or undeserving.
>>
Why does nobody mention that the person who publish this game is the daughter of Larry Elison, the CEO of Oracle, one of the people tapped to help build the US govts AI infrastructure (in his case your healthcare data), hardcore Zionist and close friends with Bibi and Epstein?
>>
>>738595216
But that's exactly where the
>Hollywood comes up with its own choreography for a fight scene
Comes in. These things are never depicted one to one as they are in the game, and neither should they.
>>
>>738596410
At what point does it stop being an adaptation of MGS though?
>only the bare minimum of codec calls and they last about a minute or less
>every boss fight has to be changed into a single non-interactive action scene
>cutscenes and monologues cut down or cut out, all the references to the older game stories just missing

My point is that it would have to be altered so much that it would ruin all ita charm and appeal. MGS builds so much off the interactivity between the game world and the player, relying on them to stop often to call people for information and advice while slowly sneaking past undetected.
>>
>>738594496
>putting goty on the steam page half an hour before the game awards even started
They had already won like 50 GOTY awards before the Doritos Pope awards.
>>
>>738591792
This explains why the reviews were so pushed, it's an actual no joke industry plant. That's why it released out of nowhere too unlike something like Concord which gave time for negative word of mouth to spread before release.
>>
>>738595776

Sadly the journalists have taken the wrong lessons from games like Concord and their solution was to simply not market games before they shill them to the high heavens.

Every time I think we might finally be hating gaming journalists enough, they prove that I'm wrong. It's truly impossible to have enough hatred towards them.
