i dont get why people criticize the combat so much. i think it feels very fluid and involved compared to most open world games. the different builds you can do feel like significant choices, and, on harder difficulties, having to understand an enemy's weakness and craft potions and oils is really engaging. this game really emphasizes preparation, its a big part of the gameplay

It's not like BotW where navigation itself is interesting, or like Elden Ring where you're rewarded for exploration with massive secret areas and bosses. You just ride from one end of the map to the other just so that NPCs can dump exposition on you. This could have been achieved in a much smaller linear game and it would have done wonders for the pacing.
I hate when you're forced to play as Ciri. Her style is aids and her dodge has zero i-frames and you get one shotted by everything in the hardest difficulty.
Every time i think about replaying it, i remember how dogshit the combat was and how much time did i waste on a terrible open world.

Open world games can be great but if you want to constantly railroad players into going into certain areas at certain times and actively discourage players from exploring on their own without being told to by some random NPC then you should not be making an open world game.

Blood and wine is peak ”modern” gaming, it actually used vibrant colors and made the enviroment beautiful, i can ride around in that landscape for hours just enjoying being there
