all ps controllers feel really good on the hands, I personally like the ds4, haven't tried the dualsense and I like them better when I'm playing a dpad focused game.

at the time yeah.... the series X controller is better in every way, no reason at all to use 360s these days, I really like the newest xbox controllers, still using AA batteries is dumb but just buy rechargeable and you're forever topped up
>>
>>738596380
Easily replaceable rechargeable batteries is the best of both worlds, remember when it was that easy to get a new battery for your phone?
>>
>>738596684
true but rechargeable AA kinda suck and they die within a year or two and I have to buy new packs, a bit annoying
controllers with builtin batteries they last way more i believe

>>
>>738596932
I only play on PC and all I own is 2 xbox controllers, and one hori fighting game controller, of the simple cheap ones

I kinda wanna try another controller just for variety, thinking either a 8bitdo ultimate 2c or a gamesir g7, both currently the most shilled 3rd party controllers online

that or just a ps5 controller because I've never used one and kinda wanna try, but a lot of its features would be completely wasted on PC
>>

My Dualshock 3 is STILL working after more than a decade of heavy use
>>
>>738597017
Get a third party, no point in getting PlayStation controller if you play on PC, I think you need a special software for it to work too like ds4windows or something
>>
>>738597112
I was thinking it might be good for emulating PS games, for a more "authentic" experience, but its fuckin' expensive though
>>
>>738596932
everyone talks about Nintendium, but what the fuck are ps comtrollers made out of?
it's been 6 years since I got my ds4 and it still looks very healthy, only controller that I own that's older is my GameCube controller.

ah that makes sense, for emulation it would be a good choice. I was thinking of doing the same thing but with gamecube controller, but I will be buying a cheap wired replica thats on usb
>>
>>738597017
>but a lot of its features would be completely wasted on PC
The triggers will only work with a limited number of games specially made to support them, but other than that you can make better use of the features on PC than you can on PS5. Steam has all of the same options for Playstation controllers that it does for the Steam controller and you also have other mapping software available if you don't like Steam. Use the trackpad for extra inputs for weapons/items or menu hotkeys. Gyro is also good, but that is on most other third party controllers as well.

gamesir g7 pro is 70$, I kinda want the ZZZ edition too which is like 100$, too much for a 3rd party I'd say, I hear the dpad is bad, but that they improved it on the ZZZ edition, now idk if new g7 pros have that "Improved" dpad or not...
>>
>>738597315
i seen reviews on this and apparently the ultimate is vastly superior to the 2c. is it highly touted here because of the price? it seems like these will fall into the same drift issues like a console standard controller

It would have taken like 3 cents off profit per controller to include gyro, and the near ENTIRE fucking launch line up for the 360 would have played better with it
>>
>>738601552
they have hall effect sticks anon, the ultimate is an upgrade but not that much
>>
>>738601552
how would it have drift? even the 2c has hall effect sticks, the whole point is never drift
ngl though, I only use controllers on PC and I've never had stick drift, not to jinx myself though, I use it rarely only on a certain games that's why

the ultimate is 2x the cost of the 2c, I dunno how much better it is though

>>
dude what games on PC even support gyro? I don't remember playing any
is it a substitute for aim in 3rd person games? to use gyro instead of the right stick?
>>
they've yet to make a more comfortable controller than this
>>
>>738601354
>too much for a 3rd party I'd say
In the past I would have agreed with you because third party was always dogshit, but the G7 Pro is the most premium feeling controller I've ever used. The dpad isn't bad (well, the smooth circular one that comes pre-attached is bad, so switch to the one in the pic I posted) it's just different than people expect. The face buttons and dpad are clicky like a PC mouse, and some people hate that. Personally I love the clicky buttons because they feel extremely precise, I couldn't go back to traditional buttons again after this. Get the G7 Pro I promise you'll be happy with it.
>>
>>738594507
The stick quality has really gone to shit in these newer controllers.
It's obvious they're using cheaper components.
>>
>>738594507
Always kind of wondered if it would be better to have both analog sticks in the upper portion, but I assume they went with that design to balance out games that use button inputs frequently.
Otherwise it's a good design that makes use of the neutral position of your thumbs.
>>
>>738601989
apparently yes
holy shit
now I really wanna try it
has anyone played for example resident evil requiem or something with a controller with gyro on PC? the reason why I don't use controllers on games that require aim is because as a PC player I will NEVER aim with a fuckin analog stick

but this gyro stuff seems like it'd work great
>>
i just wish you could connect them to a PC, i have a bunch laying around that I can't use
>>
>>738601989
Through Steam Input you can set gyro to the mouse or the analog stick. It works in all games on and off Steam.
>>
>>738602316

>>
>>738602412
>>738602316

>>
I honestly like the Series controllers more. And I use both very regularly (not every 360 game is backwards compatible).
>>
>>738602404
might be a game changer
I always wanted to play some over the shoulder games on PC with controller, like MGS V, but I avoided it because of the precision aim it often requires
if the gyro is good enough it can be like every game is resi 4 on the wii potentially
>>
How is this supposed to emulate keyboard + mouse for my strategy games?

It's actually inheritance from the dreamcast controller
You can trace the xbox's lineage back to that with the old place they had you put memory units.
The placement of the stick was mostly an afterthought they never corrected on.
Funny too, it wasn't an intentional decision on Nintendo's part to take the layout for the pro controller on the switch/2 either.
It just matches the layout of the joycons which have to be asymmetrical so when used as individual controllers they're oriented mostly the same way.
>>
>>738602540
One thing to look out for though are games that don't support mixed inputs. I tried playing Dead Space Troonmake the other day and I'm not able to use mouse plus my analog keyboard, or controller plus gyro aiming tied to mouse. It's one of those games that automatically flicker between M&K and controller inputs as you press things. My movement kept halting every time I utilized the mouse inputs and the UI kept flickering between control inputs. Some games you will have to rely entirely on one control scheme or the other. So set your controller to exclusively M&K controls or exclusively controller controls with the gyro being tied to the right analog stick. Any games that allow for mixed inputs you'll just set the gyro to mouse aim which is typically superior on precision.
>>
>>738602540
RE4 on Wii is good because it uses IR sensor bar for aiming. Gyro is completely different and dogshit in comparison.

I have one and it's been very nice. Mostly been using it in DS4 mode to have gyro controls for certain emulated games. I don't much care for the software that you're supposed to use with it though, I mainly just use it to turn the RGB bullshit on the controller down as to not waste battery life.
>>
>>738594507
Great ergonomics, shit everything else
>Pain in the ass to connect to PC during its life span
>Fragile as fuck, my friends with a 360 had to buy like 12 during the 360 age
>Second worst dpad known to man, only one worse is GC
>Weird batteries cage, some AA batteries didn't fit right and you had to use the paper fix
>Buttons get stuck if you play games with heavy button mashing
The only reason it was ever considered good is that for a really long time it was the only decent controller in the market: Nintendo had Wii shit, DS3 was too tiny and the triggers were retarded, and third party controllers were mostly shit
