It is really noticeable when Fox and Falco are playing space chess. With the beam Falco can facially emote they use his actual feathers to help out since you see his feathers stand up when he notices Fox’s move and the they immediately relax when he notices that he officially lost. You even see Fox’s ears twitch when he looks at the board and notice a move which happens before he smirks. The humanoid bodies also help. I do understand why people can’t get behind it
