They can't sell motherboards anymore. Is this where PC gaming ends?
>>
Wdym they cant sell them
>>
>>738595932
>>738595985
People waiting for DDR6.
DDR5 is dead, too expensive and too old already.

Maybe if they weren't so expensive people would be buying them.
>>
>>738596061
weren't they gonna bring back AM4 and DDR4? Fuck you AMD give me a 5700X3D
>>
I already boughted in 2023 I will run this baby until 2029
>>
>>738596061
>People waiting for DDR6.
OpenAI will just pre-buy the supply again except this time 16GB of DDR6 will cost an eyewatering $800+
>>
i have an am4 and can run everything, dont need this overpriced shit

>New mobo would require new rams and cpu
Yupp my 9070 XT is good enough on PCIe 3.0. I can run all the games I want.
>>
>>738595932
You will be renting your cloud gaming PC from a data center and you will like it
>>
>>738596061
DDR6 isn't until AM6 and AM6 isn't for another three microarch upgrades.
>>
>>738596725
there is no structural reason that datacenter gaming PC rental should be any cheaper than owning. That DDR will get sucked into the AI vortex too.
>>
>>738596725
The PC of the 2030s and onward will just be a dumb terminal/Chromebook that connects to cloud subscription services
>>
>>738595932
They can if they sell it to me for three burgercoins
>>
>>738595932
so true
my CPU, GPU, RAM & SSD all link telepathically
>>

my 4790 and 970 still work fine
>>
>>738596061
Why are they bothering? AI bros will buy out the supply, DDR6 will never reach consumer hands, except extremely limited, paltry amounts for ultra rape prices no one can afford before scalpers jack the prices up
PC gaming is OVER. Whatever you have now is all you're going to have until it dies and then you will have NOTHING. They found their way to forcefully wean you off owning personal compute and you are naive if you think they're just going to stop
>>
>PC Motherboard Sales Face Sharp 25%+ Decline Amid Weak Demand
Surely this means they will be cheaper soon?
>>
>>738597428
lmao
No down, only up
>>
>>738597428
some of the latest high end boards already dropped in price by 100 to 200 bucks here but they were very expensive to begin with.
>>
>>738597428
i hope so
motherboard i have is faulty and would reset the BIOS settings everytime i turn it off
>just change the CMOS battery
that's what i did and the the thing would still reset
>just RMA it
im not gonna go one month without my PC

>PC gaming
Sorry to tell you anon but this has nothing to do with PC gaming or PCs in general. This is the end of all consumer electronics. Home and portable computing is ending forever. Everything will be thin clients going forward. You'll have a device that connects to the internet and has just enough power to do ONLY that and drive a display. Your computing will be done on a giant datacenter boiling the locals alive with atom bomb tier heat. No more local processing for anyone. You'll rent compute which means you'll be cloud gaming forever. And your government will watch everything you do on your computer/gaming device/phone/etc.

>brainlets don't know that RAM generation has nothing to do with the WAFER CAPACITY OpenJewI bought up
No anon, they bought up SUPPLY not a product. Entirely different. Moving to a new generation changes nothing. Consumer DRAM isn't being made anymore at all. It's ogre.

I use 16 ddr4 I don't need that gay shit.

If my Mobo shits the bed I just get another cheap one that uses ddr4
>>

I will probably get better GPU at some point but other than that I'm fine.

I will start carving wood

i mean, my Pentium II and voodoo card work just fine too, doesn't mean i'm gonna play video games on them. unommsayan?

Do these retarded $1000 motherboards even do anything the nice $300-$500 can't? Besides having big dumb heat generating screen? I mean what do you even need within this generation beyond the error code display, split-lane gobbledygook, and some 10G and 40G USB ports?
>>
>>738604537
You listed all of it, it's artificial product segmentation.
>>
>>738604605
That's what I thought. The extra money would be better spent on more storage, or better cooling.
>>
>>738595932
perhaps if they sell me a motherboard smaller than ITX id want one.
>>
>>738595932
Maybe if theyd sell me a GPU that isnt so piss poorly designed it needs a fucking stand to hold its fuck hueg weight id buy one
>>
>>738604996
Melty connector is a bigger issue than that.
>>
>>738595932
perhaprs if theyd sell me a CPU that isnt backdoored to fuck and back id buy one
>>
>>738595985
>wdym bruh frrr iono
yikes!
>>
Hey maybe, just maybe if big games werent poorly optimized pieces of shit i might care about hardware.

You could've typed three letters, you went out of your way to talk like a retard.
>>
>>738605051
its both absolute garbage nobody should tolerate. Splitting hair over which fuckin retard issue is pointless if it ALL FUCKING SUCKS.
>>
>>738605243
You can support your GPU and weight is no longer any problem.
You have to babysit your 5090 every day to make sure it's not killing itself.
There is a huge difference between the two.
>>
>>738597323
If it actually comes to this then I'm exclusively playing old games and ROMhacks forever.

>>738597323
Ok? Then the gaming industry will die and we'll can all go back to modded CS Source and L4D2 servers like muh good old days

Be real nigga OpenAI will collapse before DDR6 comes out.
>>
>>738596114
that's a flagship board for enthusiasts, normal people aren't supposed to buy that shit
>>
>>738605904
But what does it DO that makes it twice as expensive as a good "mid"-range board?
>>
>>738596545
>pcie 3.0
i never saw the need to go past that, but sure, a bit of future proofing with pcie 4.0, but what the fuck is the point of pcie 5.0?
>>
>>738605970
Its got bluetooth technology.
>>
>>738605970
You get more PCI lanes, more stuff like NVMe slots, sata connectors, usb-c connectors, hdmi/display port connectors and higher quality components like network interface cards and audio chipsets.

It's one of those things where if you need those things you will know it because if you buy a cheap/shit mobo it will just rape the performance of the components you connect to it.
For example my mobo has 3 NVMe slots but if I use more than 2 it has to use bifurcation which halves the bandwidth of the PCIe lanes I use for my GPU. More expensive mobos mean you don't have to worry about bifurcation.
>>
>>738606332
I'm fully aware of that. I'm just talking about the point where you get big fuckass screens and stuff.
>>
>>738606394
At that point it's just ricer shit for people with money to burn.
>>
>>738605430
What kind of fuck monkey buys a 5090 in the first place?
>>
>>738606568
monkeys who need 32gb of vram, you're not getting that much vram in a single card for less money than that
>>
>>738604537
some of these fancy motherboards do have cool features like extra m.2 slots, usb headers on the board, swappable wifi cards, power switches on the board, debug readouts, etc
i don't know where you're seeing 1000$ though, last i checked 400-500 WAS the high end outside of meme shit like threadripper boards that are not actually meant to be bought by normal people
>>
>>738605782
>Be real nigga OpenAI will collapse before DDR6 comes out.
two more weeks?
>>
>>738606568
It can also happen for 9070XT, 5080 or 5070Ti.
Higher the power draw, the bigger there is a chance of melting.
>>
>>738605970
high end motherboards basically have a few of the features you need bundled together with a bunch of shit you dont need to drive up the price.
For example you may want a mobo from a manufacturer that has properly shielded audio. You might end up paying for a bunch of extra usb ports you dont need, a fatter heatsink that doesn't make a difference, etc.
>>
>>738597428
hahahahahaha silly cattle price never go down
>>
>>738605750
How would you accomplish that?
