Why are professional videogame reviews suddenly bad now? I thought we trusted them...
>>

Someone post a steam chart please

Gamergate waa 12 years ago kiddo, but I guess you were too young to actually read back then.

take the 'reviewer score' and deduct 3 points automatically
then, for every 'con' listed by the reviewer that complains about a lack of adhereing to woke ideology (not enough niggers, 'objectified' females, et cetera), add 2 points
for every con listed as not being 'accessible' (such as difficulty), add one point
for every pro listed that praises a conformity to woke ideology (such as 'diversity', usually described as 'customization options'), deduct 2 points

follow this formula and you will arrive at the game's True Score

and its been this way for years, not 'suddenly'. you fucking shill.

There has only ever been one trustworthy video game reviewer in history, and you're far too young to have even heard of him.

I tapped out on reviews in like 2019. I watched a lot of Easy Allies and Kinda Funny when I realized "I don't care about reviews anymore" because they kept hyping it up like "Don't worry guys, THE REVIEW is coming!!" and there's literally no reason to take some group of "journalists'" opinions as anything higher than my own.
In fact, I just downloaded some PS2 games I haven't played and picked a random one and loved it. Disaster Report. A kind of 6/10 7/10 game according to reviews, but for me it was this whole mysterious experience that ends with a completed story and a full series of events you had to go through and figure the game out.

Reviews made some sense back when the market was less saturated. Today they're just a filter whether something is shovelware or not, and a way to avoid anything that's technically broken at launch.

They're only bad when they give a high score to a game I don't like or when they give a low score to a game I enjoy. I am on the autism spectrum btw.

>good product sells bad
Wow! Next you are going to tell me pop music slop also sells better!
Quick! Proof that your music is good because of spotify numbers

Have you seen the peak cinema called Mario movie? It broke a ton of records, thus its the best movie ever by your retarded metric.

They were the same worthless people engaging in the crudest opinion alignment in the '90s and '00s too.

I always liked the reviews in gaming mags the most. Xplay was pretty entertaining though and you got to see the game in action.

Undertale was ahead of it's time, which was why it got a 10. If it was released today, 8 at best due to the overblown indie scene.

>ahead of it's time
It literally just ripped off Earthbound and OFF

Simple.

It was mainly "popular" (it did very well, but many things absolutely mog it in sales/playerbase) because it had a very condensed story and was fandom bait by design.
Other fandombait came out in the form of animations, such as Helluva boss or TADC, Undertale is moreso in the vein of that instead of the usual gaming fandom, OFF and Earthbound are things that don't have the same qualities

30 years ago gaem journlists were gamers first, so they brought actual credibility. Nowadays they are not. They are "writers" who write articles. These articles raneg from politics to food to social issues.

But NONE require you to actually knwo the subject.
>>
>>738604198
Undertale also happened to release at the perfect time and with a strong momentum that indies almost never have
