Super was amazing, Zero Mission was good, Fusion was good(just was not Super and wasn't trying to be), Samus returns wasn't bad, Dread was good. There have been plenty of good 2D entries and the latest game(I consider 2D and 3D to be separate categories here as most fans do) was one of the better ones, which you really can't say too often. Most of these games have flaws but are all enjoyable to play and because of the length of metroid games you can decide to sit down and have a casual playthrough of one and have a happy afternoon doing so.3D metroid enjoyers are not doing well and I hope their next game is good but I am not overly concerned with 3D metroid myself.I feel like Metroid is a franchise where people here have some of the strongest opinions while not actually playing any of the fucking games.

The only good thing about it is the pixel art, it's too bad the fusion suit is awfully designed though.

The story for the most part is also fine I don't love the dialogue at the computer bits but internal monologues on elevator rides is pretty fine, though I think people are much more sour on it now thanks to Other M looming over the whole game. Zero mission is the better overall package for sure but I think the fusion hate is overblown
