This game has such a great ending.
>>738621394He was already thinking about James with angel wings.
>>738620710Look at that proud papa.
>>738621394Is this an official document? But you need to recall the OG starfox team was>James>Peppy>Pigma>and Wolf>maybe andross (i don't recall that myself but someone brought it up in a prior thread)So they used to get along pretty well, beyond some bickering on pay or such. Pigma probably had some loose respect for James as a pilot/commander but couldn't tolerate his selfless attitude and need to save everyone.
>>738621783When was it said Wolf was part of the OG Star Fox Squad?
>>738621394Is that a play on when pigs fly? If so that could be foreshadowing for his betrayal.
>>738621831After looking up a few wikis, I guess no where, but the new prologue intro had James' Arwing possess both a Fox and Wolf pawprint. So he could have been a protege of James.

>>738622691command would be post assault retard bro.Peppy's arwing is even a perfect recreation of the Assault styled Arwing. >>738623193When you say "highest potential" do you mean theoretically possible or what's realistic for a player? Either way it's very easy(but very boring) to guarantee at least 2k since you can grind out 999 on Solar alone.
>>738623520>at least 2k since you can grind out 999 on Solar alone. Can you? What's the trick?
>>738622980Why would he need to rely on a genetic backup when he could put up a convincing front and simply trick the Star fox team into killing a robotic copy of himself
>>738622235>the new prologue intro had James' Arwing possess both a Fox and Wolf pawprint.Nigger that's James's print with little baby boy Fox's below it
>>738623578When you fire a charged shot you get a bonus hit for every "enemy" the explosion makes contact with. Unfortunately there are a lot of things in the game that are flagged as "enemies" when they're actually just obstacles. For example in Corneria you can farm some extra kills by repeatedly firing charged shots at certain buildings. On Solar you farm kills by firing charged shots into the lava and hitting the solar flares. Since these spawn during the boss and the boss gives you infinite health you can very easily(but very, very, very slowly) work your way up to the limit of 999 by landing a few charged shots on the solar flare that spawns during each attack pattern cycle.
>>738623497>mission requires finesse which is the cop out reason why fox couldnt even bring his gun because he legit would've killed everything effortlessly with it.He went COMPLETELY unarmed right?Shouldn't these faggots have like plasma swords or stun batons or something at least?sure bringing a gun that can punch a hole through steel would be over kill for the primitive planet, but bringing nothing was equally retarded. Fox would have been quite fucked if he didn't luck his way into the staff. But yuh Adventures is kind of a cluster fuck and you'd think after everything Starfox did Pepper would TRY to help them with some first offers on guard duties, cargo protections, etc.
>>738623578I assume the boss of that level makes an infinite number of rocks to attack you. Of course your arwing is constantly taking damage, so you have to play well.
>>738623717>solar flares count as 'enemies'>cornerian buildings can count as enemiesWell that's news to me. interesting.>>738623647because there's a chance fox finds the real him and kills him? What a stupid fucking question. You ALWAYS have a back up plan (fake robot) and a back up for the back up (genetic back ups) this is basic fucking shit.
>anons are just now realizing that in order to make a profit, Fox had to scam Corneria for all it's worth before the war ended>hence why by Adventures, they're broketruly the zoomgroids around here can't understand what inference is.

>>738623912WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT REAL
>>738623912where's my annoying bee??
>>738623901Yeah, but considering everything that happens in future games such as Andross still being around and the Star Wolf team not being mamed it's safe to say they went to Venom 1 and killed the stupid robot andross
>>738623912>truly the zoomgroids around here can't understand what inference is.Inference is what they called that snow that appeared in TVs in the 90s when the wifi wasn't working right.
>>738617284>clear out the area so Cornerian army can occupy another front of the warFox and team were mostly just helping the Cornerian military push into Androssian territory.
>>738623774well the mission started off as diplomatic sending an armed person to a monarch would've probably looked bad and remember if he didnt roll that way Pepper probably would've said alright you're not on the job then so you wont get payed. the only reason the staff got a pass is because Fox legit kept his mouth shut about it, unfortunately the game fails to convey the stakes Fox has during the mission brief because Fox is a good sport about it and Pepper is his friend despite everything but I wouldnt be surprised if Pepper is the stereotypical hard ass that would dock your pay for retarded shit.
>>738617162Have you seen the cornerian army? they barely care if you friendly fire
>>738620521I thought that was common knowledge. You can plainly see the Great Fox being all run down and looking like shit.
>>738624430It was simply nepotism. Don't forget Fox and Bill are bffs.
>>738624128>Star Wolf team not being mamedthey got better with future meds.
Why didn't Pepper just hire Wolf?
>>738624128The cyborg prosthetics were only temporary. I'm sure Oikoni's face got better and Leon grew his eye back.
>>738624039AI most likely.
>>738618362We have no idea of the value of spacebucks though. It could be like 10x ours for purchasing costs.
>>738624479It's common knowledge to anyone who played the game, or even just read the manual that came with it. Anon is implying that most Star Fox "fans" are just furfags who fap to r34 shit instead of actually playing the games.
>>738624785sounds like an argument I have with a anon in certain threads about a game called Blaster Master.
>>738624419Pepper quite literally tried to conscript Star Fox at the end of 64, he was about as much a friend as a politician can be, which at the end of the day, he is.
>>738624479common knowledge implies people played Adventures and don't just jerk off to Kyrstal anon.Which do you think is actually more likely?>>738624419Isn't Saura at the complete ass end of the Lylat System and as far away from Corneria as Vemon, if not more so?A a diplomat can carry one tool for close quarters self defense on an unknown planet surely, even just a stun baton. The whole mission is pure luck that Fox wasn't attacked by the scalecunts really.
>>738624596Wolf probably got better deals, only 5 figures for 1300 kills wouldn’t fly with a hardass like him.
>>738621394>pigmaPigma shit up off your floor.
>>738625024Kanna is great. People need to buy the triology. Really nice dungeon diving games.
>>738625136it's because the game was built off the code of a game called Dinosaur Adventures which didn't have a blaster in it, nor space combat. They just haphazardly tacked it onto Star Fox and most of the things involving Star Fox was made on top of the previous cancelled game. Though it begs the question if his team even gave a shit about Fox when they're willing to let him search around a godforsaken jungle planet for hours with little direct communication.
>>738625335They knew fox was top tier in melee, he has handled worse.
>>738620521Stellar based
>>738625335I think we are all aware of the history and how shit had to be jerryrigged to make a half passable plot. And It was either take this job, or serve up frog legs for dinner that night, and I don't think they were going to agree to the latter option.

>>738620616Command is just a bunch of fanfiction shit
>>738623497At least by the end of it, they presumably got enough money to bring the Great Fox and all four Arwings back into working order.
>>738625718I fucking LOVE the Asaault designs for Great Fox and Arwings. Super slick and high tech.I really want this design to come back.

>>738626760Everything about it is really awesome, I'm not sure if they can top it. The flyby pan to GF and crew in orbit is all simple but perfect. Making it more "epic" or complex might ruin it. Woman Ending
Since Fortuna was changed to Fichina in the remake, can someone double check my memory. In Assault the first planet you go to is Fortuna, right? With Andrew, and its a lush jungle planet.Later is an icy planet you need to ecure a weather base on. That was Fichina no?Then Zero continued that? Fichina the icy one, then later you could unlock a path to a foggy jungle planet that was Fortuna?Any guesses why they are shifting the planet names? If such will be relevant to the supposed new title?
>>738628445The thing is that 64 had an error where the ice planet had the name of the jungle planet from the SNES game.

>>738630485>fox isn't pigma, he values what everyone brings to the team.there isn't a CEO in the world who pays all his employees equally, especially when you remember how fucking shit slippy and peppy are at piloting. Fox would obviously get the most because he's the owner, and he also can justify it because he reinvests his share back into the business. Slippy gets paid the least but "maintenance" is all him so he's actually doing pretty well since he skims a ton off the top of that. Peppy has been with the business the longest so he gets paid more than he deserves. and Falco gets paid a decent rate, but considering fox sent him out in a broken Arwing he obviously thinks he's paying Falco too much.
>>738630659What's the in lore reasoning for fox to sabotage Falcos g-diffuser?

>>738631074>There's a reason Falco getting shot down leads to a 3 mission break for him, but Fox getting shot down is a game over.Yuh.It's called being a game. Numb nuts. If Starfox was reality they'd struggle without Fox but could still clear a mission or two as the Arwing is repaired. Plus they wouldn't even have the Landmaster o Blue Marine without Slippy, plus be woefully lacking in enemy intel. He is still pretty damn important. if fox and crew are just mercenaries, why do they call pepper sir and treat him like the boss? that would be like you phoning up a plumber because you need his services and will pay him for it and when he arrives he calls you sir and boss

I only ever played star fox on the SNES (it was actually called starwing here), but when people say star fox, they're generally thinking of 64 aren't they? not nearly as much of a street fighter 1 and 2 situation, but similar
>>738632482Pretty accurate
>>738632376Fox was in military school before being forced to drop out due to his dad dying, that's how he knows Bill and why he has respect for Pepper.
>>738632482More or less yes. Some ultra autists might try to imply Assault or rarely SF2, but Starfox64 is the one with the best reputation.Kinda like Zelda with OoT or now BotW. Or Mario with 3, world, or 64.
>brutally kill his comrades until there's virtually none left>"I'm glad we're on the same team, Fox!"
>>738632567I see. I know different manuals in different regions just make shit up completely for the story description, and I remember one I read (UK) basically said fox and crew are rogues, just working for money and happen to be getting paid for a good cause for this game. nowadays I would be skeptical but as a kid I just took that as canon. I can't remember which star fox game it was for.
>>738632376Pepper is the client, mutual respect is good
>>738632471Ah I'm dumb, read it as Peppy. But in that case1. He IS still their boss. Pepper could kill their contract at any point if they step out of line or cross boundaries.2. Fox at least was in the Cornerian army and respects Pepper highly. Falco might have been in the army but don't recall. And Peppy has been a long time friend of Pepper.3. Guy is still a high ranking official, you treat them with a base level of respect.
>>738632762The idea of Slippy shooting up a city because he's being paid good money is funny to me
>>738632762I imagine that's why they figured they should do a remake that adds a bunch of cutscenes where they discuss the lore between missions, since so much of it only exists outside of the game and has been distorted by different localizations.

Not bad. I dont abuse the charge shot along the ground, feels too dishonest and not a fun way to score. Has anyone ever tried an absolute minimum score run where the starfox team basically does it for free?
>>738639405>the charge shot along the groundexplain. I don't know 64's quarks all that well.never tried a minimum kill run but maybe if I emulate it soon I'll give it a chance.
>>738639472Not just minimum kill, minimum score, as in stalling out the bosses until they are worth dick all and routing in such a way to where you kill the least amount of enemies. In starfox 64 you can get extra hits by charge shotting the ground in certain areas and against certain things and basically produce points out of thin air.
>>738639472You get a bonus point for hitting an enemy with the charged shot's splash damage. so if you kill an enemy with the lasers, you get 1 point, but if you kill them with a charged shot detonating nearby, you get 2 points

So how do we feel about one stage in 64 being an extremely blatant ripoff of Independence Day?
Look I get being disappointed with Zero but it's not a bad game.
>>738636508I'm biased towards Andross, but mostly because of the untapped potential of seeing his psychic abilities (telepathy, telekinesis) in full display. Barring that, I wouldn't mind seeing someone else take over as the new threat.
>>738625718It kinda seems like they cribbed a bit of Assault's version for the new design. Even if it's supposed to be a direct remake, I'm glad they're not just reusing the designs from 643D for everything like they did in Zero.

>>738634545The last thing I want is for Krystal to be added to the team. It just doesn’t make any fucking sense and completely breaks the group dynamic. Feels forced. If they must retire peppy at some point I’d rather they get a character that actually keeps each species different instead of a canon gf for fox but it feels wrong to not have a wise veteran on the group.
>>738628848https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_man_factorIt happens in real life too. One of the most fascinating mysteries of life, in my opinion.

Krystal would have one shot me as a kid if I played Adventure. Tribal Tattoos + Blue Fox would have made me obsessed.
>>738641189Starlink is such a weird game.Nintendo didn't need to allow that extra mile but they did.And yet people have histrionics as if they don't care about the IP.
>>738639946I still find it funny how the Great Fox is never shown at its actual size. To hold all four Arwings side by side, the Blue-Marine, and the Landmaster, not to mention all of the parts and tools needed to maintain them, the engines, the crew quarters, etc, it would be at least the size of the Enterprise-D.
>>738640479Doing a Google search only brings up fan-made emblems, so yeah this is the first time Star Wolf has had an official emblem.
>>738641572It's probably been an issue of hardware limits if anything. Granted I don't recall how much it was shown in Zero nor its scale.
>>738641189>>738641423>Wolf>motivation is to conquer the galaxyThat was a surprisingly off-character plot. Just playing it made me wish for a Star Fox Freelancer-esque game.
>>738641738It's pretty much at the same scale in Zero as it is in 64, most apparent in the mission where you have to escort and protect it from enemy ships and Cosmic Dodora.
>>738641423It's been 8 years since Starlink, dude, and there's been jack shit between that point and this remake. The game was made by Ubisoft, all Ninty had to do was give them the OK and I guess get them in contact with the VAs from Zero. It's a great inclusion, especially considering the DLC pack made the other wingmates playable and gave them full voice lines for the campaign missions, but Ubislop did all that work. I don't know how that's supposed to be interpreted as some grand gesture to the fans on Nintendo's part. It reminds me of how Platinum had to ask for their permission to include the bonus Arwing in Bayonetta 2, or how Shiggy would've been fine with leaving Star Fox 2 to rot in digital storage for eternity if the SNES Mini's project lead didn't cajole him into permitting its inclusion as a bonus.
>>738641953It still shows they have interest in the IP, don't want it forgotten, and see value in it. If Nintendo loathed the IP they'd just deny the motion flatly. As for Bayonetta, yuh? They'd need rights permission to use the Arwing model, just allowing a Fox outfit doesn't guarantee anything else, so gotta double check if other stiff is fine.As for Starfox2 define 'cajole', I've not read interviews around that myself.
>>738642082It's more the equivalent of letting somebody borrow that power tool you can't remember the last time you used. >>738642447Show me the part where he says from the start they were going to use it as an opportunity to finally release Star Fox 2.>The Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System’s producer said he wanted to include it. He said it had been through debugging and was a complete game, so it would be a waste not to put it out in the world. That obviously sounds like the project lead had a personal goal to see it released and was the one who had to broach the subject. Don't be a disingenuous little faggot.
>>738642364Not really. Slippy's part of the main four and the team mechanic, so he can provide intel and info on-demand. What I mean is Krystal scouts on ahead before missions begin, and joins you occasionally as a guest like Bill/Katt. She can also give mission briefings on Great Fox, and take center stage when Andross/someone else meddles with magic instead of technology.
>>738642768Honestly magic shouldn't be in Star Fox as a setting
>>738642797NTA but at best, Krystal should be adept at dodging and receive bonuses for no lock charge shots
>>738642797It's fine desu. Stuff like her staff and the Krazoa spirits disappeared from the series after Adventures, leaving her with just telepathy in Assault and Command. Telepathy/ESP is a staple of sci-fi, from Dune to Gundam to X-COM to Mass Effect to Starship Troopers. That's not even getting into The Force from Star Wars, the franchise Star Fox takes most of its inspiration and flavor from.Even if the Krazoa stuff had ended up sticking around, it wouldn't have been out of place; Star Fox had plenty of mystical elements even back in the SNES era. Peppy had telepathy, he used it to sense enemies at a few points in the comic. Andross did too, it was the explanation for how he enslaved the Venomians and made obstacles appear out of thin air on Venom. The manual said Monarch Dodora was the living spirit of Fortuna itself. 64 and Zero both have the "Is Fox's dad really dead? Is he a ghost?" thing. Hyperspace sometimes involves some weird shit, like the blurry space bird that leads to Out of this Dimension in the SNES game, or Meteo's psychedelic rainbow warp in 64.
>>738642584Yuh and?Obviously the guy in charge of the project will think of ways to make it more enticing to consumers. But nothing about Miyamoto's remark has him ACTUALLY regretting or loathing the idea, as you try to pose.He was asked if they could finally release starfox2, he agreed. It wasn't some huge tug of war, or fight of ideals like you imply. He just made a joke over the game being a known but unreleased title. He's done similar constantly through his career. You fags need to stop pulling words or malice into his actions.
>>738642913>Peppy had telepathy, he used it to sense enemies at a few points in the comic. The fuck? That's really wack.>>738642797people like you are boring as Hell anon.So many sci-fi series have magic, mysticism, or telepathy.

>>738642287It blows my mind how emotional the true ending is for me despite being simple and cliche. I tear up every time. 64 just clicked in a way no other game in the series has.
>>738645035Cliches are cliche for a reason. Because they're simple and truthful, like a melody that never loses its beauty.
>>738642584>Don't be a disingenuous little faggot. On /v/? No can do
>>738639472You get hit+ bonuses whenever you hit something with the charge shot's blast radius. The wording is intentional: you can kill a singular enemy fighter with the blast radius because you hit a nearby wall with the charge shot and it'll still award you hit+1. In fact, score runs never use homing charged shots because of this; unaimed charged shots are faster and award more points. There's also the fact some terrain features also award hit+ when struck by a charged shot despite being indestructible

>>738659657I imagine Pepper had to basically hand them an IOU at the end of 64. The capital city of Corneria was demolished, most of the military was trashed, there was damage across the system, planets like Aquas and Zoness had their ecosystems fucked by pollution and would require extensive restoration efforts, etc etc, and all of that would take top priority. Fox is a bleeding heart and would accept the standard token hiring fee for the time being, knowing that Pepper was good for the rest of it, but that was one of the motivating factors behind Falco's decision to split. By the end of Adventures the system government had recovered enough to properly remunerate Star Fox for their accomplishments during the war, on top of another paycheck for saving the planet Sauria, leading to Fox's decision to shell out for the fancy new Arwings, Landmasters, and renovations to the Great Fox.

>>738662118Oh, but Jet Force Gemini is a significantly worse game than the other two.
>>738662018Hard disagree. Peppy is more than a mentor he is a father figure and also the old grumpy patriarchal figure tasked to keeping the three "boys" on the team on track with their duties. He has a distinct role and relationships with each member of the team independent of just being "the mentor". Krystal meanwhile has no obvious characrer traits and more importantly clear relationship dynamics with the other characters. Yeah she and fox are romantically attracted to each other but what do they do with each other when they aren't gazing eyes at each other or when a mission isn't happening? What exactly is krystal's dynamic eith the other teammates? Like you said they have to make her an actual character but with the lack of development and history she had in the franchise I'm equally as willing to have peppy's replacement be any new character.

I don't know if the modern /v/ brainrotted zoomie can appreciate what a masterpiece SF64 is, but the 3 kiddos who get it are in for a treat. As a boomer the most disappointing thing about this remake is how memorable the game is, so it feels like I played it yesterday when it was 50 years ago
Reminder than in Command the replacement Great Fox is just an old cargo hauler hastily converted into a carrier that has zero in the way of defenses and explodes from a single missile.

I think they realized that they goofed with the writing too, given the remake is so focused on it.
