Azure and Zero were kind of shit. Zero sets up a lot of shit with the cult and criminal underworld that ends up being handwaved away and largely irrelevant in Azure and doubles down on the haremfaggotry we got with Joshua, except with him there was a canonical winner.

Chapter 2 in Azure is probably the best in the franchise, but by the same token it's final chapter is horrid and if I had 10 dollars every time you were forced to fight the same exact manticore boss I would have gotten my money back. Personally I didn't really feel anything for KeA either. I found it hard to care about a girl that was engineered to have god powers and adjust causality the way she wants it.

Time itself being rewritten so Renne's character development happens and that the SSS don't job out to the guy "more evil than Weissman" never sat right with me. The duology tries to come up with a series of plot twists they think would be cool but none of them land for me

It's hard to believe the Zero Child herself wouldn't be aware of the fucking big fuckall time septerion causing a hard reset considering everything else she knew considering she had powers over time, space, and mirage

I was willing to accept that, but the problem I have is that you introduce this absurd pseudo deity so early into the series that every time something like this comes up you will always be left asking "well why couldn't they do anything about this if it jeopardizes the very people she altered causality to protect in the first place". I don't think the hard reset is even an inherently bad idea, but I don't trust the writers to have it leave a lasting impact in terms of potential stakes. The stuff that happened in daybreak 1 will be undone, and the party will end in a better place than they started in horizon, with a very happy ending as opposed to a bitter sweet one with sacrifice. If I'm wrong about that, and I hope I am, I can concede a bit of stupidity. A big problem I had with Zero and Ao is that there was no real coat associated with KeA using her powers in the way that she did
