>game gives you a report card at the end

A shitload of Japanese games. I assume western games mostly stopped doing it because it probably hurt people’s feelings being told they suck.

game also stopped being designed around replayability

Any time you fail the roguelite campaign you are given a semi-breakdown of your total territory control and cash made as well as days active topped off with a letter grade.

I hate it because I save frequently because I play in short bursts and apparently that's a bad thing.

Arcade games used to do this all the time. Especially early console games as well, since the developers were still familiar with arcade design ethos.

>make it out of high school with "honors" despite cheating my ass off in all AP classes
>need meds to study; can't focus otherwise
>no one supports me on this
>finally manage to begin process of getting put on meds in my mid 20s
>things go well for a while
>get admitted to pharmacy school
>things go badly
>support at home deteriorates entirely
>drop out to study programming instead
>pandemic happens
>certain events lead to my meds getting revoked; self-esteem collapses
>spend the next 5 years struggling with everything, become severe alcioholic
>finally regain the confidence to seek out a new scrip
>it's now 2026 and things have begun improving
Long story short, it took me over 15 years to begin believing in my own competence, mainly because of something not unlike stockholm syndrome in which i refused to acknowledge how abusive my family at home actually is.
