What should I play on this? Do you guys have a favorite hidden gem?
>>738628227Not sure aboit hidden but I do like the dark spire.
>>738628227I'm playing pokemon platinum on a emulator right now
>>738628227Functionally there's no hidden gems on this thing. You already know everything for it. It's a DS.
>>738628227Mario Kart DS. It's not a hidden gem though
>>738628227Pic rel is my favorite not-talked-about-enough DS game. Not sure if it counts since it was on PSP too, but the DS version imo is the better one. Funky ttrpg/bullet hell hybrid, really really fucking good art, great music, and utilizes touch controls really well which is always a big plus for me when it comes to DS games. Story didn't do much for me though.>>738628819The DS is right up there with the PS2 in terms of hidden gems (as much as I hate this terminology). Thousands of titles, lots of JP exclusive, tons and tons of third party support.
>>738629541>The DS is right up there with the PS2 in terms of hidden gemsNow I have to clean up capri sun from my monitor.
>>738629634>ps2 babby>can't keep juice in mouthkek writes itselfEnjoy uhhh FFX I guess
>>738629541This one looks really interesting if nothing else, thanks anon
>>738631828Because *that* was worth bumping the thread for.
>>738628227Okamiden and Final Fantasy III
>>738628227Jump Ultimate Stars
>>738628227>18-19 years ago>see pic related at a game stop bargain bin for like $5>never heard of it, decide to buy it on a whim>played the first couple of chapters, it's pretty boring. Put it down for a while.>a year or two later, I see /v/ sucking its dick>decide to give it another go>it's actually halfway decentNot amazing. But definitely better than I expected it to be. And not quite a hidden gem, but it kinda flew under the radar.
Radiant Historia, but the 3DS remake is better so I recommend that one. The OG is fine though
>>738628227Alright which one of you glowies is spying on me, I just finished sorting and torrenting my DS library yesterday, /v/ was nothing but Star Fox shitposts and now this is the fourth DS thread I've seen on this board. I still appreciate the recs though.
Can't say for sure if it holds up, but I was a fan of the chibi robo game it got. I remember the gamecube one being better, but it might still be worth going back to.
>>738628227Ghost Trick
>>738628227orcs and elves
Most of the games are shovelware trash designed for little kids. The ones that rely on the stylus aren't as fun as I thought they would be. There's maybe 30 good games and about 20 very good ones. Everything else is hot garbo. You'll get bored of them after the novelty of playing a new game wears off.
>>738634818>a series of ridiculous coincidences, the video gameIt's alright.
The World Ends With You None of the ports come close to the PEAK of DS style
>>738628227
>>738632132Arguably, the PSP version is better.
>>738628227izuna legend of the unemployed ninja is kino. Shame the second one removed the ability to save between floors, I still play Izuna on my phone because it's so easy to start and stop
By all accounts it's not very good, but damn if it isn't neat to see a miniaturized interpretation of the MMO.
>>738628227You don't understand how cool Fighting Fantasy DS is. Pic for ants, sorry

>>738638324>look up Ketsui Death Label>shmup on the 240p DSthat is a special kind of purgatory
>>738638449If nothing else, it did adequately prepare me for the boss fights when I actually got to play the full game of Ketsui roughly two years later. The stages were still challenging but I breezed through the bosses.
>>738628227>Soma Bringer>Blue Dragon Awakened ShadowThese were great co-op games
>>738638489>Blue Dragon Awakened ShadowHow does it compare to the X360 game?
>>738628227Play the Mario and Luigi games
The Castlevania games.
>>738638087That's right, before me this place was merely a collection of screenshots in GaiaOnline YLYL threads.

>>738628227Solatorobo, its an action RPG with French furries in mechs and sky islands
>>738639249>>738638743Better on Switch.
>>738639249Too bad that it's easy
>>738628227not a hidden gem but 999 nine Hours nine persons nine doors is a great vn
>>738640735>play>vn
>>738640057>DS Castlevania games>better without the 2nd screen for the map in real time
>>738628227Turn it around but you need an actual physical ds to enjoy it.
>>738628227Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Dragon Quest 4-6Resident Evil Deadly Silence
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword. Unironically. I had the #3 world record at 2h 3m, before faggots started hacking and filling the leaderboards with 0h 0m 1s)
>>738628227Dragon quest monsters joker and joker 2.
>>738641194Good for you anon, unironically. I wish I could be thay good at vidya
>>738641963Thanks. It took me a few runs to get it down to that point. Dodge rolling instead of running, and spamming Ultimate Technique during fights. I probably could have gotten #1 on the next run, but then those fags ruined the leaderboards. Whatever makes their dicks hard, I guess.
>>738641194tranny
>>738639249Someone recommended this to me years back and it's actually fucking nothing. It's just fetch quests the game for hours on end with the easiest 'combat' known to man.
>>738628227Hidden gems/underappreciated DS games:>Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime (very unique action game)>Super Princess Peach (ridiculously good, though too easy)>Contra 4>Yoshi Touch & Go>Kirby's Canvas Curse>Spout Extended (homebrew)>Marshmallow Duel DS (homebrew, 2 player on 1 DS)>Monster Tale (too easy and short, but nice)>Tetris DS (arguably the best version of Tetris, with amazing multiplayer modes)And then there are the very famous games:>Super Mario 64 DS>Metroid Prime Hunters (excellent multiplayer)>Castlevania Dawn, Portrait, Ecclesia>Mario Kart DS>Ace Attorney>Room 215>Chrono Trigger>Resident Evil
>>738642786skill issue
>>738644089There are also many cool ports>Doom (actually plays really well on the DS)>Hexen>Quake (runs pretty slow)Someone also began work on a Spelunky remake, but only completed the first stages (cave):https://youtube.com/watch?v=k8OznPIa6mY
>>738628227>>738644521
>>738641194Definitely the best game I played on the DS.
>>738646390>Cute badass kunoichiAlright, I'm in.
>>738646745Oh dude, this game created the cutest and baddest of them all, for me.
>>738628227Any of the smt games on it, RE1 DS, the world ends with you (my personal favorite), any ds Pokemon, any ds Castlevania, too many great games really.
>>738644521It's a little outdated. Several of those Japan-only games got English releases (Phantasy Star Zero, Knights in the Nightmare, and Daigasso Band Brothers DX). The rest have fan translations.
