>let's remake the original with the same stage layout and enemy placements

What a backwards way of thinking.
I'm playing an arcade rail shooter, not fucking movie slop

Video games that were light on "story" has always faced this problem where the devs don't just want to make something cheap and sell it for cheap, they want to make something that's more comparable in scope and price as their other games.

They remade 64 a billionth time. If they remade the original, which was influenced by 70s-90s rock bands, shit would have actually had a chance on a console no one bought.

>>
>>738642080
Designing a railshooter stage enemy pattern is lost technology. We don't know how to do it anymore. We can only imitate the layouts our forefathers gave us.
>>
>>738645085
The problem with Star Fox isn't the brand itself, it's the fact that Nintendo isn't good with writing fully fleshed out narratives. Hence why ips like Zelda and Metroid often utilize the "less is more" form of storytelling. Where they rigidly sprinkle plot points rather than cohesively string them together in a fluid manner.

Sadly you can't do rigid with Star Fox because it needs a fluid narrative. Nearly the entire franchise is a team effort that goes from one war zone to the next war zone. Where constant banter and conversations inform you of the next objective or the explain the psychology of characters.

Star Fox 64 was probably a lightning in a bottle moment for Nintendo because they had never went that hard on character driven writing and voice work until decades later with Fire Emblem Three Houses. So every subsequent Star Fox game has been living in the shadow of 64 because it's the most dynamic entry story wise.

Nintendo honestly needs to hire Capcom or Kojima to work on the writing and story for any future Star Fox game.

>thinks a game where the characters are anthropomorphic talking animals named after the animals has a good story
>thinks this story is worth discussing
think about this story for 5 seconds and you'll figure out how retarded you are.
what do they eat on corneria? are most of the citizens named after animals? is there a crocodile guy named snappy? is there a gorilla guy named bananas? Why is Fox's dad named James, yet he named his son after the animal? When Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy go to the grocery store, what do they buy? Does Falco buy worms? Does Slippy buy flies? Does Peppy buy pellets? Does Fox buy half of a rotten deer carcass? Are there other kinds of anthropomorphic animals? You're seriously discussing the artistic merit of a tacked on, barely though out story, that only became popular because of the quality of the gameplay? A story in which there is an anthropomorphic pig named "Pigma"? We might as well be discussing the "story" of Paw Patrol or Care Bears.
My fan theory, they're actually just wearing fur suits because James Mcloud makes an appearance in F-Zero without his fursuit.
>>
Can't they just hand the franchise to Sakurai and let him give Star Fox a Kid Icarus treatment?

I agree with you 100% but it's funny you should put it that way. The original Star Fox 64 is very similar to a movie... I'd just say it's a good thing in SF64's case whereas most games that aspire to be "cinematic" do a poor job of it so it became a pejorative.
>>

Games have pacing bro. More is NOT better. You have to squeeze it in somewhere. Would Super Mario World have been a better game if Bowser stopped the action to give you part of his tragic backstory every time you hit him with a Mechakoopa? No, because it would fuck up the pacing, right? Games aren't only defined by what they include they're also defined by what they aren't. SF64 has basically no bloat

No, that guy is right. If an actually new starfox came out, I wouldn't care at all if the game started with another 30 second narration saying "the galaxy is in trouble because bad guy called Badgoon (who is a badger) wanted to exploit the planet of infiniteenergynia for the mineral called galaxydestroyerbutalsoinfiniteenergynium and now Fox, Falco, Slippy and the new recruit Giraffebob Longlegs try to defeat Badgoon by going through 7 to 10 levels located in planets in the Oncepeaceful System. The story was, is and should forever be just a tiny little vehicle for context and that's it. Just enough to justify an ending like James being cool at the end of Hard Venom or saying stuff like "Your father screamed really good after I put on my strap on"
