The best "use" for AI code at this point is someone with at least junior level experience using it to take over pieces of code and then the human integrates it and can completely understand and do it themselves.
People trying to go from 0 to 100 are getting basically a google search pasted into their code.

Anyone with any sense has seen how this plays out for a while now.
The bubble pops and takes a big chuk of the economy with it.
All the big AI oriented companies go under
The tech reverts back to mainly being a hobbyist intrest
It continues to improve in fits as said hobbyists make breakthroughs
The tech achieves a viable cost-value ratio and gets picked up again by big companies.

Realistically the way the hobbyist tech improvement plays out is that instead of having mega programs to can do multiple things, instead people will use a bunch of smaller specialized AI for certain parts of tasks they wish to automate or as specialized research assistants.
Also Phone App grade convivence generative stuff is likely dead but hobbyists will still download open source personal gen for their personal computers.

Can someone tell me why big companies like Microsoft or Facebook are for AI? Their own services (LinkedIn, GitHub, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) are being massively flooded with shit at an unimaginable scale. They have basically created a DDoS tool and fiven it to everyone to shit out the worst, most longwinded, verbose posts that say nothing. They are filling up their own data center hard drives and using up tons of bandwidth with bytes that are less than worthless.

Why? Why are they doing this? What is the value to Microsoft of the 163738262839483629204738206th LinkedIn post written by AI?

>>
>>738643773
As a senior programmer, it can come up with some interesting tricks you haven't seen before, but it's generally bad at writing code if you don't follow what's 'standard' unless you get really specific with instruction files. Also it has a bad habit of writing tests that look adequate on the surface, but are either redundant, test things that don't need testing (like basic assignments), or that don't actually assert what it thinks its asserting. It's most useful feature is for when you know how you want to do something, but don't know the specifics of that particular language or poorly documented package.

Most of the people at my company who are impressed with AI are managers or other non-technicals making javascript dashboards to aggregate data. It's actually really similar to AI art. If you only care about the 'vibe' of the end result then it's fine, but if you start interrogating the smaller details or try to get consistency across a large volume, it falls apart.
>>
>>738644208
What is the value to Microsoft/Facebook of the 1912023580250 human post? Why would anyone care about your nephew's shitty vacation pictures, granny's baked shit recipe, or anything else at all?

Your first mistake is forgetting that the vast majority of the population is completely retarded.
Your second mistake is thinking that human content is somehow more valuable than AI content.

All companies care about is traffic, not the value of the content. This has been true for decades.

UBI was always meant to be funded by the elites. They'll pay for it and they'll do it happily, just to keep the masses happy. Well they might also just engineer a disease or a war that kills half of humanity once automation can sustain the elites, but that's only if we let them get that far.
>>
>>738643998
and?

>>
>>738644430
The difference is the scale, not that the human posts are more valuable or indeed have any value at all. It’s that what used to take humans maybe a half hour to write a meaningless fluff post can be generated instantly at all times forever, choking your servers and filling your drives at an ever increasing rate.
>>
>>738643536

It's used as an excuse to cover up recession indicators (Shareholders prefer "We downsized because of AI taking jobs as we integrate and improve our workplace with advanced technology that is elevating the market" over "fuck dude we overhired in 2020 and haven't turned a profit and now we're fuuucked and have to cut our work force and start slashing incomes and benefits to try and get in the black") and it also gets injections of money from investment firms and the Gov, and most business is done that way instead of serving the customer and competing for the customer's dollar.

Wrong approach to problem solving. The person that is trying to beat Pokemon using Claude is basically instructing Claude to think each step that it does, trying to mimic human reasoning and filling up its context window multiple times, which leads to hallucination.
Claude could easily brute force Pokemon through parallelization and offloading memory outside of its context window through .md files in Obsidian.

>Oh because one of the tests is failing.

>Yes! The build fails because the test is failing. Let me analyze the test.
>The test is failing because the code changed.

This then repeats maybe two or three times with it making increasingly drastic ancillary code changes all the while, exploding its scope and guzzling tokens like water.

The elites may be retarded but they aren't that retarded. You could argue that most of the elites are going to be dead in 50 years since we still haven't been able to stop aging so they might as well burn everything to the ground now and not worry about being executed by angry masses.

You literally just need to go to all of the homeless shelters that already exist and see that they're completely empty. There are enough roofs and beds for every single homeless person in america. Every major city already has infrastructure to help them. Why aren't they in these buildings? Because the people that work there don't want to get fucking stabbed so they make sure the homeless are off drugs and alcohol. They can't come in if they're high or drunk.

Visible vs Invisible homeless.
Visible homelessness is mentally far enough gone it can't ever really have a home.
Invisible homelessness is usually something mentally wrong with the person but they're not so far gone they lose all their friends and support networks, and some of them are just legit hard times and can get back on their feet.

Most of the time "Homeless" programs target the visible homeless and it's a losing fight because they need effectively a prison system with guards, doctors, lawyers, and a rigid system to follow.

If you care about or are paid to care about understanding how it works and keeping it working or updating it, then it’s not so simple.

That's an issue with the user not understanding basic cybersecurity, not an AI problem.
Sure, you could argue that someone who has been learning how to code would have some sort of knowledge behind cybersecurity and mitigate those kinds of attacks, but this doesn't mean that AI is at fault here.
Try to ask an AI to help you with your .env because you don't know how to setup the API keys of your project. The AI will tell you multiple times throughout the process that this API shouldn't be exposed.
If the roastie ignored this, it's not the AIs fault.

The reason AI sucks shit and always will suck shit is because the data that gets fed into it sucks dogshit. It can take in every single thing in the world but at the end of the day the vast majority of this data was created by retarded people and is, thus, retarded data. You can't just shove actual literal shit into AI and expect it to churn out gold. It eats nothing but shit. I go on the internet and tell lies on purpose for fun. AI takes my made up garbage and weighs it the same as true information, as well as the same as someone who earnestly answered a question but was just wrong. It takes all of these data points and cant differentiate between them because it doesn't know how, nor will it ever know how, to detect when something is right, wrong, or wrong on purpose. It just thinks in "is" or "isn't"
There's zero actual thinking involved, critical or otherwise. And it's worse when you learn the fact that these AI megacorpos have literally run out of data completely to train on. They have to now train AI to make data itself so it can feed itself, becoming a recursive feedback loop of total retarded garbage. We are certainly approaching a singularity, but it's not one of self-learning and replicating which will cause it to become effectively sentient. It's a singularity of retardation, where it becomes so fucking stupid it's all just going to implode on itself

Homeless shelters are more restrictive and limited than homes and public places are. If they were remotely good and lucrative as right-wingers claim, then every college student would book themselves there and buy a ~$100 yearly bus ticket instead of paying $1k+ in dorm fees per 3 months.

My divorced aunt lived there and she ended up being kicked out because of her schizophrenia. A friend of mine in elementary school just slept near the public library.

My job, before AI as it is now existed, was to listen to audio recordings of body cams and police interviews and convert them into a transcript, a written script that can be used in courts, kind of like a court stenographer, but without being live.
Then, five years after I joined, the owners, well past retirement age, sold the company to some Korean AI startup. Now my workflow is downloading a premade script from the AI and then proofreading it to make it look presentable.

AI is never taking my job. It cannot handle speech to text at the required 99.9% accuracy required for courtrooms. ESPECIALLY when black people talk. Stuttering and sentence fillers like uh and um are also completely botched.

>"Use of AI tools for research and reverse engineering purposes is permitted. However, contributors are expected to fully own and understand all code they submit. I was sleep all day. You can't finna say I were there."

>The dotcom bubble popped in 2000 and it didn't change a single thing
It made investors wary of investing in internet infastructure, all internet revenue is from advertising not owning domains. AI has no real earnings model because the moment you try to sell something made by AI people ask why should they pay you when they can use the same AI to generate something similar for free. There is no market even if AI wouldn't constantly fuck up with hallucinations.

Everyone hyped VR saying it was going to take over all video gaming in the next 5 years and that didn't happen. It fills a niche in party games and simulators and thats it because the goggles are too uncomfortable to use for longer periods. AI is going to go the way of VR where it replaces quick photoshop edits and Wikipedia in search engines but thats about it.

I would rather have AI jeet code because it actually has a chance of working. But the real value is just using the AI model instead of the jeet, so you don't have to hear that broken ass English in a Teams call

AI is coming up with novel solutions to long standing maths problems that even the absolute elite tier of mathematicians haven't been able to solve

maybe get a job so you can afford GPT 5.5 or Opus 4.7 which are far better at maths/science/coding than you will ever be

Maybe. But how would you know it's solved without being an elite mathematician yourself?
If you are just some random dude with no real understanding of the problem, you wouldn't know whether the solution provided by AI is real or not.
>>
>>738646928
Coding interviews are fucking retarded anyway. If the question is some leetcode shit that they don't even use in their day to day work, I don't get what even is the purpose of it because then it's just checking if you prepared to answer retarded questions in advance.

Currently we programmers do use AI, but the issue is you'll let it complete something and one of three things will happen:
Total unusable garbage
Something that works, but is not good
Something acceptable

Do you see the problem with 2? You need to already be a programmer to understand that what it has done is wrong. And that is what they're looking for in the dumb leetcode interviews.
The amusing part of all this is we've already been here. Vibecoders are just slightly dumber script kiddies.
>>
>>738647532
>2/3 of shit being handled by the bot
Yeah and that 2/3 is her talking like a clerk in a customer service office instead of a real person.
>>
>>738646749
Anthropic's revenue is $30 billion dollars so the idea you can't make money with AI is just wrong. Regarding gaming, I don't think we are going to see full-ai games any times soon. It looks like shit and the hardware requirements are obscene, however AI is gonna be everywhere in the dev process because AI is just too useful to ignore, especially when it comes to coding.

I think when the bubble pops we are going to see an end of the big training runs and companies are going to focus more on squeezing performance out of existing models. It's just way more economic to fine-tune an existing model than doing new trainings run that might cost billions of dollars and could end in failure.
>>
>>738647662
you haven't used chatbots in the past 5 years I see
>>
>>738647532
You have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>738647767
>Anthropic's revenue is $30 billion dollars
Anthropic also uses very little actual AI in all of its products, like Claude Code. So the AI is pure marketing buzzword and 99,999% of work in Claude is done by humans.

>AI is gonna be everywhere in the dev process because AI is just too useful to ignore
Its a tool for copy-pasting which was already prevalent in coding. It serves a function as an advanced search engine and nothing more, its fundamentally limited in what it can do, LLM is not "AI" whatsoever, thats a term used just for marketing.

Pretty bold of you to tell the people hanging out in the water what the water is like without dipping a toe in yourself.
I mean I WISH some qt3.14 in customer service would talk to me like this but I guess if that did happen I wouldn't need an AI chatbot to mess with. Get out of the armchair, bro. The water is fine.

The people who seethe at AI's poor quality always sticks with the free-tier shit like Deepseek, and think AI overall is shit like that. Like pointing at those old Dall-E 2 images and thinking AI will never improve from there.
Go for the business tier from Anthropic or OpenAI and see how much you are missing out. They are gatekeeping the good stuff for B2B operations. And sure, it ain't perfect, but to think its completely useless is very naive. And as other anons havr said, the genie is out of the bottle. Even if AI is complete trash now, its very dumb to think we are going to ditch it for the good ol' ways, many people are in a race to make the illusion come true.

I feel like getting exposed to automation sims like endfield gave me some context for the things people talk about w.r.t programming and ai.
Like you have machine setups that technically get the job done, but they're horribly bloated messes of spaghetti upstream and a nightmare to troubleshoot, or they're amateurishly put together and 4x bigger than they need to be. And then you have setups that do the same except they're almost mathematically perfect within the constraints they work in.

You got people that know how to build things up from first principles, and those that just copy shit off the internet and can't figure out why things break. Must be fun being an irl 99th percentile programmer seeing the absolute shitshow play out around you.
