>Got changed to a Grace game because playing as Leon "isn't scary" in a world where Regeneradors are widely regarded as one of if not the most unnerving enemy in RE, and it's from THE Leon game.

We almost had a full on non co-op successor to RE4. Instead, we got a roguelike minigame because Nakanishi isn't creative enough to make enemies that are scary to fight as Leon. They really have to put him back on the non-mainline titles. I feel like there's some really cool things they could have done with "Leon in open world Raccoon City" that were squandered because he to think in trends and tropes rather than mechanics and creative ways to intimidate the player. Grace in the Care Center being a genuinely great horror section doesn't make up for what we lost, I feel...

It IS a full mini game, though, but all it really does is highlight just how sparse Leon's sections really were.

Nakanishi sounds like a retard that's larping his own series.
RE2 was scary and neither Leon or Claire sounded particularly scared. Yeah they screamed and cursed sometimes, but they didn't act like mumbling retards.
RE2 is right there, or as you mentioned, even RE4 has some very creepy moments.
But alas. That guy operates in how many viral moments he can cram into the games to grab streamers attention and to keep the RE7 tourists calm.
And I'm sure we won't see a solo Leon game ever again, the ethan/Grace trannies are too loud and the Chrisfags are gonna bomb capcom if they don't get their roided monkey soon.

Sounds like RE4 betas

For specifically the Leon hallucination build, it would be something like this.
>Game starts with Leon's investigation into Spencer
>He raids the man's castle while a simultaneous HCF raid is led by Wesker
>Spencer (or Wesker) unleashes a viral contaminant that decimates everyone except Leon who is now infected with a modified progenitor strain
>the game from there is Leon working his way up to a battle with Spencer
Given how much the release RE4 cribs from past builds, it's likely that the game was similar in structure of RE4, just with a few things switched around
>Saddler/Salazer = Spencer
>Krauser/Wesker = ...Wesker
>Ada wasn't in the game in all likelihood
>Ashley = Girl and Dog who were likely cut for this build

We also know the following about the game from promotional materials.
>Game is set in January 1999
>Sherry was kidnapped by "an unknown third party not affiliated with Umbrella" (referencing Wesker's Report)
>Leon was investigating Umbrella and was led to Central Europe
>Leon arrives in a village and questions the locals, but suspects they're all Umbrella informants
>Leon investigates a derelict Umbrella mansion and finds a single lone zombie with no bites, and is confused as to how there can only be one purposefully infected BOW in the area
>Leon writes about his worsening condition, stating that he believes he is infected and the he needs to find Chris

>Leon is part of the same anti-Umbrella organization as Chris, which is how he contacted him in CV
>Leon has met Chris and Jill by this point in time

Perfect example of how to scare the player
>Mr. X 2.0, the Girl, and the Titan Spinner are all persistent stalkers.

>Shooting causes one or more of them to start patrolling closer and closer to the source of the sound, if within a certain distance, increasing the chances of encountering one the more gung-ho you are about killing anything that moves. There's plenty of ammo, but the penalty of larping John Wick is you might get Titan Spinner bum rushing towards you down a cramped hallway. Also, Mr X runs now.

For dipshits that think doctor salvatore is still scary. Regeneradors stopped being scary past the first 5 minutes you see them. After which you destroy their leg and stunlock it to death with a knife like everything else.

Titan Spinner starts as a regular Web Spinner, and "...huh, is it bigger than the last time I saw it?" x20. Final size is boss fight.
Titan Spinner has a habit of "retreating" when shot and hiding nearby, waiting to pounce again.
>Most importantly, Titan Spinner cannot be incapacitated, only "scared off". There is no indicator of whether or not you have scared it off or if it just retreated to another room, waiting.

All the firepower in the universe couldn't convince me the next room was a manageable situation.

Played 10+ hours in this mode and hit Rank 5. It’s honestly not as bad once you figure out how it works. If your hatchet breaks, 1-2 melee‑breakable boxes basically guarantee a free recharge. Also, Parry Recovery makes durability a non‑issue once you equip it.
The mode just does a terrible job explaining any of this, so everyone ends up playing it like the main game.
