True sis. The best part about OLEDs is that you don't even need to have your games open to see them!
>>
it’s true.
Why spend money on a 5090 to play the latest shit with path tracing when your display is complete and utter garbage to begin with?
that’s like upgrading a carriage with a Ferrari engine

>that’s like upgrading a carriage with a Ferrari engine

Yeah they always look pretty spiffy
Just one of those 'when I have the money to fling' things

Personally I just upgraded to my FIRST ips monitor, I'd been using the same 1920X1200 TN one for over a decade. And I'd never had to adjust the refresh rate settings from 60 before, leaping to 180 for the first time was real cool
>>
i have never had a non oled monitor look that bad
this is bad faith posting for real
>>
>>738655283
only if the devs also had an OLED when making the game
If the dev uses a normal LED display he will collor correct to it and when you play it on a OLED, you get a bunch of gray blacks or crushed down darkness
For example, Hollow Knight, it is chock full of gray blacks when it was clear it was supposed to be absolute black, but the development monitor couldn't display it correctly
Meanwhile back when the vita was oled only, you had perfectly color balanced games, to the point that when the LCD model came out at first, games looked extra shit on it because of the full on OLED color balance

It's because these comparisons never angle the camera correctly. If you point the camera directly at the screen, as if you were looking directly at it, instead of from above or the side, then the picture looks significantly better. Still, OLED is better, but these comparisons are pretty biased.

>t. owns both an IPS and OLED monitor
>>
>>738655608
Because it's a small video contrasted against the rest of your screen. It appears dark locally, compared to the rest of the image your display is showing, but a full screen dark scene won't appear completely black unlike on an OLED.

switched to OLED last year, kind of on a whim, since AOC started making a 1440p OLED monitor for a good price.

absolutely night-and-day. i was running a VA panel, but i had tested some IPS and god damn the bleed was psychotic. OLED is definitely worth the price of admission.

No its more like becoming the standard.

IPS is old tech. You saw how rabid people are and angry at the switch 2 screen. People hate IPS more than ever, and OLED is literally shown the with the deck OLED not that expensive to be put in devices both on phones and gaming devices.

If a device doesnt have OLED I don't buy it, It's that simple.
>>
the biggest difference with oled for me is the response time without dsc. will never use another ips with dsc.

oh but wait a second...you said you bought a plasma 15 years ago. 2011 plasmas? and you're implying you bought high-end? you're in for 3000 minimum. and unless its small, you're in for more. plasmas were expensive. so you paid much more for much less. sorry, kid.

>>
>>738659708
you dont actually have to do every 4 hours, i dont change my background to solid black (are you just sitting and staring at your wallpaper?), and modern screens have taskbar dimming they do on their own.

oled burn in is old news, its considered a non-issue now to anybody who actually pays attention.

>>
>>738660040
>oled burn in is old news, its considered a non-issue now
By who? Because anyone who actually pays attention knows OLED burn in will ALWAYS exist on every panel as an inherent flaw with the technology. They only have a limited amount of time before they chew through all their headroom. Then the panel compensates by dimming the entire screen.
My church had an iPad that we would use to control cameras during mass. When we weren't available to use it, it would sit on the altar and the priest would control it. Our solution was to leave this iPad on 24/7, so that visiting priests wouldn't have to mess with it mid-mass, and it did this for literal years. Always on the same interface. No degradation. No discoloration. It kept on trucking for years. Probably well over 40,000 hours of screen-on time before it was replaced due to the battery swelling.
Our new iPad is an OLED. We've had it for a month. It's already burning in.

>>
>>738657752
The burn-in still happens, you just don't see it because modern OLEDs are good at hiding it.
They reduce the brightness of unaffected pixels to blend in the burned areas. This reduces the overall brightness of the panel.

protip: at the same brightness level oled is perceptually brighter. A 200 nit oled is more like a 400 nit IPS.
>>
>>738664883
Yeah I see where they're coming from but this reads as a bunch of marketing PR bullshit. At the same brightness output OLED looks more contrasty and saturated, but I wouldn't say it looks brighter.
The human eye doesn't perceive brightness linearly to begin with, a 400 nits white screen is not twice as bright as a 200 nits white screen to your eyes, it's only marginally brighter.
Our eyes are also more sensitive to brightness changes in shadows than highlights (which is why monitors have a gamma curve).

MiniLED shills always omit the following facts
>no burn in
Except it does happen. Thought it may take much longer and not in a manner similar to OLEDs
>near perfect black
At the cost of very noticeable blooming and small white bits, such as text, looking gray

If you already have a regular IPS monitor and are looking to upgrade to a MiniLED, consider either keeping it at least until they triple the number of dimming zones by which point we'll probably have commercially available microLEDs, or getting an OLED
