welcome back to the desk old friend

That never happened. Enjoy your mushy pile of shit that you were always using.

mechanical keyboards are too loud, I don't get the appeal
>>
Reminder we could be using a strictly better technology that works on a firmware level, but retards needed funny bright lights and zoom zoom keys.
>>
>>738657184

My mechanical keyboard (Logitech piece of shit) cracked the left cursor key with no replacement in the box so I sent it to the trash and went back to my $10 cheapo Microsoft one from like 2000. Sometimes the old ways are better.

There are quieter ones. I've been using this one for like 5 months now and it's still nice and quiet.

only ever happened with logitech keyboards for me. I never even once had this issue with Cherry
usually I can just pull out all keys caps, press down the keys, blow into them with canned air, and the problem is delayed for a couple months, but it always eventually comes back
setting fixed delays and shit also doesn't really do anything

Nigger you're literally in a thread about a mechanical keyboard that doesn't fucking werk
>>

Randy, you could pull the membrane off.
>>
mechanical keyboards feel really really good, but, if i had to build another vidya pc from 0 it would be one of the last things i would get, my previous membrane keyboard i had since '01 still works really well, its just many membrane keyboard suck, but the classic ones are amazing like that logitech

But you wish it stopped working because you want to stop using that garbage.
Cheap dome keyboards are unpleasant to use.
Do yourself a favor and at least try using better hardware before you give us your opinion.

Never going back to membrane

i have a random bootleg 60% mechanical keyboard and while ive never had an issue with switches, I can very easily swap them out.

if you arent pretending to be retarded, you could swap the switch for another switch on the same keyboard. take one of the shift keys or a number.

Barely any wear on the letters too.

Any advantage you gain is lost when the input hits the adapter. You're better off just plugging usb right into its normal port.

I've got a beamspring keyboard coming from this guy after liking an F104 quite a lot, great build quality. Beamspring interested me as yet another old repro switch/keyboard and on top of having MX keycap compatibility this time, so I can dump some MT3 /dev/tty keycaps onto it as a permanent resting place. Also fixes what I really missed about the F104, just keycap compatibility; I don't have that one Deskthority guy's files to 3D print MT3 keycaps for buckling springs, his project seems to have died in quiet.

You don't need one if you have a physical volume knob. OS volume at 100%, no worries about something suddenly deafening you, or your recordings being too quiet.

t-thanks membrane-kun!
>>
>>738657184
Mechanical keyboards are pieces of shit due to key chatter. Either stay in membrane or go straight into magnetic.
>>
>>738665438
The new Model F keyboards come with a Windows key too (you can even tack on an actual Windows keycap from Unicomp to your order, including a Win95 style one if you so desire like I did).
>>
>>738668048
Also you can do a layout mod with a short spacebar to get two modifier buttons on the right. Though you'll have to deal with Win and Menu being the other way around.
>>
>>738657184
While I do love the feel of my fancy mechanical keyboard I have a no name chinese bargain bin membrane GAMER keyboard I used for 15 years without any problems. My office has even more ancient peripherals floating around. Membranes are truly unbeatable in reliability.
>>
>>738668896
Scissor keys are better than membrane when it comes to reliability IMO, but the two I had literally broke after a few droplets of water spilled in the keyboard. No worth paying for something that can break so easily, but the design could be improved to prevent something like that happening.

>>
>>738657184
You bought a $40 'mechanical keyboard' from the Xinjingpaocze brand, and got what you paid for.
Real mechanical keyboards don't have those issues.
Not that there's anything wrong with membrane, mind you, but it's like saying that keyboards in general are bad because the one you got from 5 Below sucks.
>>
>>738669447
You're either lying or you don't use your keyboard enough. I have tried over the years from cheap no name Chinese brands to supposedly well recognized name brands, from PCBs to switches, and they all have chattering issues.
>>
>>738669712
It's an issue with the technology. Magnetic and optical keyboard fixes it but can bring other issues (i.e. Hall Effect switches being sensitive to magnets).
>>
>>738669712
Meanwhile the only keyboard I've ever had with random PCB death or switches chattering independently of actual switch health was a GMMK Pro. Using an 8bitdo full-size keyboard right now and love it, fucking weird that the best plastic case on the market seems to be from a controller manufacturer

>>
>>738670205
If you're the type to be championing a junk Logitech keyboard over even a bargain bin mechanical, I think it stands to reason you'd also be the type to be a cultist for soldered switches regardless of the widespread availability and zero downsides of a hotswap socket
>>738670132
>without RGBTQIA+ lights
Use your big swinging testosterone laden testicles and turn the lights off

Get any keyboard and a silent tactile or silent linear switch, Boba U4 tactiles are still a common choice for silent tactiles, ask /g/ or the Redditors at r/mechanicalkeyboards for further recs

>Cheapo membrane keyboard
Some buttons will harden if you use them for 1 or 2 years, and they are impossible to clean them. Buttons can also die.
>cheapo mechanical keyboard
More comfortable button pressing, better accuracy, lots of buying choices ( you can get a circumcised one or a classic one) you can easily remove buttons and put them back if you play hardcore games like broodwar, and finally mech keyboards are easy to clean and modify.
You can buy some cheap switches and you can replace the faulty ones with a soldering gun if you have bought a cheap mech keyboard. Premium ones have quality parts in them and switches can be removed easily with some tweezers, so you dont have to worry about anything.
Also, you can also do some research and you can replace the button switches from your cheap mech keyboard with quieter ones if you want.
All and all its a 50 dollar job to do all these things, and the result is 10 times better than using a membrane keyboard
