Although that said you should try to have a persona on you of the same tarot as the tarot of the person you're doing a social link with, i.e. have a Magician persona like Jack Frost on you when you do Yosuke's link. It gives a 50% bonus to a hidden affinity counter.

I think them trying to make Kanji's shadow underplay the gay stereotype will be the only one I'd bet on. The translators were already removing classic gay stereotyping with the guys that hit on Ryuji in the original P5 being softened in P5R despite the Japanese version not changing at all, and they removed the tranny joke in P3R.
