>want to install a game that is 100+ GB with the offline installer>pick my E drive SSD that has 600 GB free space, easy peasy>get error that I have not enough space halfway through the installation>the installer has to unpack evything to the C drive first were I only have 60 GB free right now>can't change this either as it's hardcodedThe fuck absolute FUCK are they thinking?
Change your temp folder mayhaps
>>738665809skill issuejust rename your c drive to your e drive and vice versa, then try again
>>738665809? if you're unpacking a zip file of course your computer has to store the unpacked files somewhere you retard, that's how that shit worksYou can chose where to unpacking your archives tho, why not just unpack them to E? And no, retard, unpacking is not the same as installing
>>738665809It ain't easy being Steam
>>738665993You can't, retard. It's hardcoded into the exe to alyways picks the C drive.>>738666115The GOG installer exe does that, not any zip files, READ nigger READ
>>738665809I mean, it could be worse. You could be using their Galaxy client.
>>738666250I'm having what's a related problem I think. I had my shit installed to D, the ssd sharted itself so I reinstalled stuff on C. Except Gog won't update now because it wants the installation files in D even though I selected the right path in the settings.
I just use Heroic.
>>738666325I've used that for cp2077 when it was still new and getting almost daily updates, had to redownload 80+GB almost each patch
>>738666402That, or Galaxy needs more space than you have on C just to update -> >>738666614
>>738666250Change drive letter of C: to something else like X:
>>738665809I deeply regret falling for the tiny boot drive meme
>>738665809Just get a giant ssd and use it for C:Yes, it's expensive, but the alternative isn't worth the constant aggravation. Windows can't into using other drives. Even when you think you're using a different one, some cache directory will be silently filling up C: anyway. Galaxy isn't alone here.
>>738665809user error and skill issue you fucking pleb
>>738666905Is the process of actually changing C to a different drive difficult?
>>738666905Riddle me this, why can cracker groups create installers that DON'T use the c drive in any capacity for free, yet a semi big store who I paid money to can not?I literally can pirate the very same game right now and install it hassle free without ordering a brand new SSD.I'll probably do exactly that.
>>738667359The safe way is to clean reinstall windows unfortunately. You should also be able to copy everything from C: onto another drive and use it, but this will cause bootloader issues and you'll want a windows usb stick available to repair things. There's a risk you'll need to clean install if you fuck it up.Sometimes there's an easier way, like in my case, I made the mistake of making a small root partition for C: and I put the rest on D:. I was able to expand to take the whole disk without reinstalling, just had to back up D:, wipe, expand. But even then I have a nasty hack left over in //DOSDevices to pretend that D: still exists. If you aren't a windows wizard then reinstalling everything is probably simplest.
>>738665809symlink the hardcoded extract path to your bigger partition. problem solved.
They really should have dropped installers ages ago, I bet Galaxy downloads installers too?
>>738668064Galaxy also downloads shit to your C drive before moving it to the location you actually picked.
>>738668176Joy. And I actually wanted to start buying shit from there.
>>738665809Isn't that just the TEMP path that's set in your windows env?You can change that.Or do what >>738667974 said.
>>738665809>run linux>install using wine>can make a prefix anywhere I want>C:\ is wherever the fuck I want it to beinfinite power
