This is a huge issue, though. Imagine if you had Mossad agents patrolling the streets in every American city, rounding up followers of Jesus to send them to some black site to be tortured and executed, and the American government not only allowed this but actually worked in tandem with Mossad, providing them intel on potential Christian worship sites. Skyrim sent thousands of soldiers to fight against the Thalmor in the Great War, only for the Empire to just give up and allow the Thalmor into their land to terrorize the Nords and kill them. Nords in Skyrim pay taxes, they let the Empire extract Skyrim's natural resources, and the Empire conscripts from Skyrim, and in return the Empire turns on Talos, who founded the Empire in the first place, and allows the Thalmor to get closer to genociding all humans, especially Nords.
