I've always wanted to play the Witcher 2 & 3 but I'm the kind of autist that can't start in the middle of a franchise and I can't stand Witcher 1's eurojank gameplay. Does it get better the more I play or do I just have to bear with it for 50+ hours?

Stick it out and play all three, or just play TW3 only. TW2 has a decent story, but there are a few annoying parts about the gameplay that actually make me hate it worse than both 1 and 3.

Prologue and very beginning of act 1 is very much combat focused, which isn't the game's strong part, after that there's a much more balanced mix of exploration, talking and combat and it becomes much better. Plot, atmosphere and choices/consequences are the game's strong points really.That being said, I never understood why do people shit on the combat this hard. It's not a great combat system, but I've always found it pretty inoffensive and unobstructive - just pick the right style, click on enemies a few times, maybe cast a sign, they die, you can carry on with the plot or exploration, the whole thing usually takes like 15 seconds tops. Not very exciting, but not really tedious or problematic either
