Why is the bow considered a DEX weapon in video-games when you logically need to have strong upper body and core strength to be able to use it effectively and consistently?
>>
barbarians with bows are not cool so you can't have str bowmen
>>
>>738690325
like many evils in video games this can probably be blamed on DnD
>>
>>738690325
Name 10 examples that aren't based on D&D or other tabletop games (D&D uses dex to aim, with "composite" bows giving extra damage based on strength, which idiots forget).
>>
>>738690325
Because people who make games don't take basic human physiology or medieval history into account.
>>
>>738690325
cuz no one wants to acknowledge that legolas was stronger than everyone else
>>
You need strength to draw and dexterity to accurately aim
Bows are quality weapons

/v/ doesn't want to admit he was the gayest also. Bows scale with gayness (Robin Hood)

Mountain blades fixed this issue need strength to be able to use a bow but points in its weapon proficiency to be more accurate and drawing it faster
>>
>>738690325
Because gameplay mechanics you fucking moron. People don't want every class fighting for the same loot.

>barbarians with bows aren't cool

The reason why is from a gameplay perspective.

A STR Melee Fighter doesn't need a Ranged Weapon since if the enemy gets close, they can just beat them to death.

A Dex Character, like a Rogue, needs a Ranged option because their Weapons and Armor aren't meant for a straight-up fight.

Cope. English longbowmen had draw weights north of 120lbs and skeletons warped from it, but yeah sure it’s powered by fruity aura or whatever.

If bows scaled with “gayness” the Mongols would’ve conquered the world on pure fabulousness. It’s just D&D nerd math so the leather-wearing backflip class has something to do while STR chads bonk things with hammers.

mowtinbrade really did a lot of stuff great with regards to archery.

dex fags need something

It's funny that if you were to convert Conan to a tabletop DnD game he'd be a Fighter with higher INT and WIS than usual rather than the tard strength Barbarian. I don't know where Barbarians get the Rage thing from, it's definitely not Conan
>>
>>738690325
elves use magic to stabilize the bow and pull back the arrow
>>
>>738692690
I thought its because barbarians were often deemed so because they lacked real tactics (to their enemies at least) and just attacked wildly so that stereotype of being raging dudes with no self-preservation stemmed from that

Okay, name a weapon that actually requires DEX

You only need the minimum amount of strength needed to draw the string. Any more is pointless. Dex is the main stat because it determines your aim and how direct and consistently you can hit enemy vitals.
>>
>>738690629
Up until ~10 years ago, DnD used dexterity for your chance to land the shot and strength for how much damage the shot deals when it lands
>>
>>738693120
Daggers. Slipping a knife between plates of armor, especially against someone actively engaged in combat like how Backstabs are used mechanically, would require amazing hand-eye coordination
>>
>>738690325
The only time I've ever seen bows being associated with strength is this random Korean MMO from the 00s about magical college kids
>>
>>738693120
Literally all of them ya fool. Being good with a ballpoint pen requires dexterity to some degree.
>>

>need to have strong upper body and core strength to be able to use it effectively and consistently
I'd like to hope the average solider would meet that minimum requirement. Anything above that becomes specialization. So Strength for heavier equipment and to hit harder, while dexterity is hand-eye coordination to shoot faster with more precision. Not to mention some ARPGs have bows with strength requirements to signify that it's a big boy bow.
>>
>>738690325
Because there's a limit to how much strength you can put into a bow shot, unlike melee weapons, while hand-eye coordination matters more when using a bow than it does when using a melee weapon. It also just makes sense aesthetically to have cunning cunts use ranged weapons, not proud beefy warriors.
