depends, I think there are 3 big categories when it comes to old farts industry veterans:1) got #metood or canceled online, sad but this is the kind of world we are living in right now (I'm not saying all the allegations are false but come on now), no surprise people distance themselves from gaming after such things2) got tired of the endless middle-management bullshit (which is a consequence of companies growing and overhiring) so they just go and start their own thing/studio, which is why I always recommend following or keeping track of game directors that made games you enjoyed because nowadays the name of a studio says nothing about the quality of its output3) still rocking at the same place

I think good creators need to have a wide breadth of experiences and hobbies outside of gaming. Of course they should love and play video games, but getting inspiration from other parts of life is crucial for making new, fresh games. If all you do is game, then you'll only make stuff that's been seen before in gaming.
