Also a large portion of the map is on land, in a game engine where travelling on land, whether by foot or on the janky snow fox hoverbike, feels awful.Otherwise it's not awful. I think the game world and creature design are prettier than subnautica 1, and it feels a lot less janky and rough around the edges in terms of how things like draw distance and physics work. But it doesn't live up to the feelings of discovery and isolation that the first game brought. I'd recommend it if you loved the first game and are desperate for more of it, but Subnautica 2 could possibly render it obsolete in that regard.
