I'm downloading the game as I type this.

What should I expect?
>>
not sure my man, i never played it
>>
>>738723734
a difficulty curve the few mortal men can survive.
those who do enjoy the best space sim on the PC.
>>
>>738723734
Grind until you learn how to delegate those to npcs. Then you are watching the monitor till you decide to wage a death war. Average german experience desu
>>
>>738723734
its four game types in one running simultaneously:
>Space Combat sim
>Real Time Strategy Wargame
>Economy and Business Managerment Sim
>Starbase building simulator
try to master one at a time or you'll drown in the autism
>>
>>738723734
Horrible framerate, as it's very processor heavy and poorly optimised.
>>
>>738723734
It took me like 400 hours to learn you can set up the settings for 1 miner/trader and then set like 20 others to mimic its behaviour.
I was setting up hundreds of ships 1 by 1.

Also you can double tap w to sprint while in stations.

Also the economy is real and if things don't move around entire races can be flat broke and just die, it takes a long time but its cool when it happens.

Have fun.
>>
Don't grind. Just fly around trying different gameplay loops until you get a feel for it.
>>
>>738724386
Its actually very well optimised but its doing a lot of work because 10,000 ships positions and behaviour are all being simulated.
Further "optimising" would be a worse simulation and they already drop the fidelity on things far away from the players view.
>>
>>738724606
yeah, close to endgame I decided to wipe out entire races just to improve the framerate kek
>>
I've never been so devastated in a game as spending months building my Starbase only for the Xenon scum to wipe it out
>>
>>738723734
Some of the worst controls and UI ever created.
>>
>>738724386
check out the beta. performance improvements are pretty insane for the upcoming update. i finally get 60ish fps in those giant 100 ship battles at getsu fune now.
>>
>>738723734
its just space kenshi
>>
>>738725124
>performance improvements are pretty insane
lets me guess , DLSS?
>>
>>738724606
honestly this is what put me off from playing the game. Im not trying to play end game saves at 15 fps.

i heard theres performance improvements with update 9.00 but i doubt they can properly optimize that level of simulation.
>>
>>738724139
If endless space 2 is a 5/10 difficulty what would this game be?
>>
>>738725292
i'd imagine its engine optimizations. X4 is notoriously known for being a CPU heavy game since it relies performance on single cores
>>
>>738725330
you just end up the game battles by not being in the sector and using the map only.
>>
>>738725330
I don't think the game is really designed for shitty PC's, not being a cunt or anything but its made by German autists FOR German autists with the assumption you're a huge nerd with a 9950X3D2 cpu.

I've never hit performance problems in game because I fit that description (not German though)
>>
>>738723734
Great sandbox, but I wish there was more to faction wars.
Also prepare to spend half your time in menus organizing fleets and building shit.
>>
>>738725772
will my 5800x3d be able to run this?
>>
>>738725971
yeah
i played the game on 6700k and 12700k over the years and it was more than fine
might chug on a save with 200hrs but you might just be bored by then
>>
>>738724139
Just use chatgpt.
I use it all th time when playing HOI4
>>
>>738724507
>Also the economy is real and if things don't move around entire races can be flat broke and just die
It's only kind of real. The supply and demand for materials is real, but factions all have infinite money, so they'll always buy whatever they need with no issue as long as it's close enough.
>>738725971
Of course, it's not THAT heavy outside of large fleet battles. I've been playing it on an i7-9700k and it's ok. It does drop FPS hard during station attacks or battles with 100+ ships, but not to a point of being unplayable.
>>
>>738725971
>x3d
You'll be fine.

>>738723734
The graphics were disappointing so I gave up on it.
>>
>>738726301
why do this when Xenon are all shitters who never do anything unless you mod the fuck out of them to be several times stronger than in vanilla?
if anything, I generally try to encourage factions to fight more, it increases the ship and material demand
>>
>>738726234
>so they'll always buy whatever they need with no issue
If they can, which they often can't.
Without the players involvement they stagnate quite a bit as ships die and they don't have the engine parts or advanced electronics to replace them because the entire chain has broken down.
Its real in the only way that matters which is the trading of goods.
>>
>>738726430
I'm playing boron at the moment and despite all my diplomatic meddling and feeding of their economy I can't get them to attack ZYA or FRF.
Probably gonna have to turn to mods.

kek im going to assume you built some fucking station-sized trap right infront of a Xenon jump gate that vaporizes any ship coming through
>>
>>738723734
One of the best examples of German autism leading to something good.
>>
>>738726301
I did something similar to this but using the split 3 way pieces to make a hexagon tube.
Had a single one of the penthouse viewing modules at the bottom so I could just watch ships get vaporised.
>>
I really like this game, but I kind of hate replaying it. It takes a long time in real life to do anything, a long time to build anything, the story quests are all pretty long (great for first playthrough, annoying on subsequent), and ultimately I feel like I always end up roughly the same in every playthrough.
I even did some games where I only used specific faction ships and station, or even where I started with a small station and only used ships that I built myself while being hostile to other factions. Idk, I wish that the game world could spirtal more out of the default state, and that I could speed up some processes.
>>
I made a personal mod that doubles the speed of all projectiles and range of all the beams and its made the combat way faster/better
I suppose its not like this by default so you get to look at all the enemy ship models up close but this feels way more "realistic".
>>
I played 160 hours and spent half that time waiting for my stations to construct.
I never used SETA or even knew it existed
>>
Anyone else just spams the deliver fleet missions once they've got some money? It feels like it's so much better in terms of pure money making than any other quests that you're gimping yourself if you're not doing that.
>>
>>738723734
Not much porn, despite the name.
>>

OP here after playing for an hour:
Did the basic tutorials and then it told me to play the game. I clicked okay and it dumped me without any fanfare inside a station with a ship.
Okay. I see a mission. I go to it. It takes like ten minutes to go from my starting station to that
station.

There's a small cutscene, I'm told to upload a virus in a station, but I have no station. Fly around a bit, get blown up by a red-marked ship. Quit to desktop.

Is this the standard beginner experience?
>>

>Did the basic tutorials
All the controls and shortcuts are pretty overwhelming at first, I think that's why people tend to get filtered the most.
>and it dumped me without any fanfare inside a station with a ship
There are different starts in the game, I'm guessing tutorial just shoves you into the basic discoverer one? It's fine I suppose.
>It takes like ten minutes to go from my starting station to that
You... you are using your travel drive, aren't you? It really shouldn't be taking that long.
>I'm told to upload a virus in a station, but I have no station
I'm guessing you're meant to upload to a specific station. Probably by a hack, but idk which quest was that.
>get blown up by a red-marked ship
Yeah, guessing it was a xenon ship. Your starter is probably not the most combat worthy ship. You can escape from combat fairly easily though, just use your boost to get away and then engage travel drive as soon as you're out of their immediate range.
>>Is this the standard beginner experience?
I guess. I think the game can be a bit overwhelming at first.
>>
>>738723734
i gotta get X3 running again if I can. never gave it a good shot
>>
>>738723734
Scouring stations to find the few attractive females in the game and enlisting them to man your ships
>>
>>738723734
Microsoft spreadsheets but in 3D.
>>
>>738723734
This game will give you autism and german dreams.
>>
Is there alose condition in this game or is it 'ship gets blown up, you float to the nearest safe space station and continue'
>>
>>738733838
I just recruit the Yaki
>>
>>738735054
You can certainly die to mines. You could run out of air as well.
>>
any odf the dlc worth a pirate
>>
I played X2 or something 15-20 years ago and remember enjoying it for a bit, would you guys recommend this game?
