Steam Controller arrived today for Eurofags, what do I think of it?
TIPS ON GRIPS
>>738727197its a controller
>>738727339a game controller
>>738727197I got mine yesterday.Pros:>Steam input is nice and flexible>Sticks feel good>Trackpads feel like a more useful innovation over the PS4/PS5 touch area>Back buttons feel good>Controller has a lot of support>Puck is convenient for charging while you play>Battery life is great>Custom inputs, like assigning a weapon wheel to a touch pad, are really coolCons:>Steam input isn't its own thing, must run with steam>Plastic is not very good; my hands sweat when holding it too long>Feels less premium than a Dual Sense PS5 controller>Some coarse/sharp edges; machining isn't best>My right trigger squeaks out of the box, will probably have to open it just to fix that>Trigger housing is not very good; it's quite easy to pinch your finger between the trigger and housing>Magnet resistance on the charging puck is not strong enough to resist pushing a cable in; run the risk of scratching your controller with the copper contacts if it slipsIt's a very feature rich controller but does not feel very premium.
>>738727197you're devastaed it cant work with non steam games
>>738728012oh no... my epic games library...
>>738728203Should have just bought everything on steam like a normal human being
>>738728203or any emulators, or any pirated games, or any old DOS games.
>>738728469right click -> add to steam
>>738728469>or any emulators, or any pirated games, or any old DOS games.RPCS3 has an SDL input, which allows native steam controller support. You still need steam open in the background for the steaminput software. It's possible for devs to support it without having to launch the game through steam. Alternatively, most emulators will recognise it as an xinput controller otherwise.
>>738728469>Consolefag doesn't know how Steam works
>>738727796is it even possible to use this without steam input?what can you even do if you want to play gamepass games. i remember wanting to use my ds4 on an xbox game and steam wouldn't let me add that
>>738727197Works with any modern linux distro without steam. HAH
>>738728930>what can you even do if you want to play gamepass games. i remember wanting to use my ds4 on an xbox game and steam wouldn't let me add thatI've not used GamePass in years because they kept jacking up prices and removing games I was half way through playing, so I don't know on GP games specifically. Other launchers, like GOG, Epic, ActiBlizz, Ubisoft etc. all still install games in a normal way, so you really can just 'add to steam,' so I wouldn't put the fault entirely on Valve and Steaminput. I'd say it's equally the fault of Microsoft for having games through their platform install in an esoteric and awkward way.
>>738728930You can just add game pass games as a non steam game and steam input will work
>>738727796Do you think its premium price is justified? Be honest. I know a lot of people will act like "yeah, it's totally worth it! I'm so happy with my purchase!" just because they're embarrassed to admit they fell for the hype and made a mistake in purchasing an overly expensive controller.
>>738728858>mustard ricers now play games on a tiny handheld with graphics set to 480p fake resolution upscaled to 1080p, hitting a silky smoothing 10-15fps fake generated to 30fps and then sit 10ft away using a DRM controller LOL! how the mighty have fallen
>>738729317>silky smoothing21:04 in india
>>738729381that would explain why there are so many steamies posting right now. when will they learn? PC mustard rice has been a joke for years. Steam is anti-consumer. nobody is falling for this grift
>>738729293the trackpads, back buttons and grip sense unlocks gajillion of possible control configurations so that alone is worth more than the premium price for me
>>738729479okay silky smoothing rajveer
>>738729293>Do you think its premium price is justified? Be honest. I know a lot of people will act like "yeah, it's totally worth it! I'm so happy with my purchase!" just because they're embarrassed to admit they fell for the hype and made a mistake in purchasing an overly expensive controller. It is a very feature rich controller, but it is not the best feeling controller I've used. As said, it's not as good as the DualSense in terms of 'feel,' but then the DualSense doesn't have a very good battery life, nor the level of features of this controller, and I'm confident the sticks will fail on the DualSense before the Steam Controller.I've had a few controllers - an Xbox One controller, an 8bitdo, I have a PS5 and Switch Pro controller too... The difficulty is, no controller gives you a full feature set on PC. So for instance, emulating Breath of the Wild is difficult, because trying to find a controller that works properly with gyro on PC without sacrificing other features is weirdly difficult. I wanted a controller that I could play anything with, with anything meaning current titles, older games, and emulators. The last one was a hitching point for finding the right controller. So, if like me, you really want a controller that just does everything, you don't care about competitive shit (like trigger locks), then yeah, it's quite likely worth it. The other option is buying multiple controllers and switching for the best one for the situation. But if you have a premium controller, then the lack of premium feel to this one will probably be a disappointment.
>>738729549refute a single point if you can>steam deck is an underpowered piece of shit>steam box will be an underpowered, overpriced piece of shit with no upgrades>steam is DRM>steam controller requires steam DRM>steam sales are dogshit and prices rarely drop unless a game flopped>steam store has more shovelware than apple and android app stores>pc mustard ricers once the kings of technology now rely on fake frames and fake resolutionsprove me wrong
>EmulatorsIf you have SDL, it recognizes the controller with or without Steam (if you remove Steam, you can't use the trackpads), and the same goes for Puck. The only thing is you have to do is close Steam so the virtual keyboard doesn't open, or add it to the Steam launcher (or configure it so the keyboard doesn't appear).>Games outside of SteamOn Windows, you have to add the game to Steam, and not all games work well if they come from Epic or have a third-party launcher (which you have to add).It has a very good response time, or so it seems to me. In Soul Likes and emulators, I feel it responds somewhat faster than the Xbox controller or the DS5 and DS4. It's comfortable despite its appearance and doesn't feel too heavy; in fact, it seems a bit lighter than the DS5 controller, although the DS5 is 12 grams lighter.
>>738729083i agree, had to fix some forza horizon 3 issue at some point and it involved the weirdest window store powershell shit>>738729159I specifically tried that with clair obscur recently and it wouldn't launch through steam without some uwphook fuckery (didnt work for me so i just used ds4windows)
>>738729686you're brown, your name is rajveed and you shit on the dirt road in front of your house
Damn, this feels way better than the deck. The d-pad, triggers and bumpers are all a big upgrade. My only complaints come down to mine arriving with a slight scratch on the back (not a big deal) and the right side of the shell having a slight lip (which was also the case on my Deck).>>738728012>>738728203>>738728469Hold start and it'll make a beep like a hit in pong, that makes it emulate an Xbox controller. Repeat to switch it back to desktop mode.On Windows you need Steam running for this, on Linux it just werks without even holding start.Alternatively, just add whatever you want as a non-Steam game and forgo this entirely.
>>738729728>i agree, had to fix some forza horizon 3 issue at some point and it involved the weirdest window store powershell shitI don't know why they do this shit. Microsoft store stuff has always been needlessly complicated.
>>738729698Aldo on Android, it only recognizes trackpads, dpads, and the A and B buttons.
Steam Controller 1 is better. Steam Controller 2 was made to appease console retards who still find value in the right analog stick.
>>738729967>the right side of the shell having a slight lipAdding to this, I just noticed that if you apply pressure to the side of the front chassis then the whole front faceplate can shift left or right, most noticeable on the grips. A buddy confirmed his also does this.
>>738730951>>738729967Mine doesn't shift, but I have some coarseness to the edges of the lip and the screw holes.
>>738731301The shifting is quite minor and probably nothing to be worried about, I can only really see it if I hold it on its side and look closely at the bottom of the grips.I was just surprised as I'd never seen it on another controller.
>>738731512>The shifting is quite minor and probably nothing to be worried about, I can only really see it if I hold it on its side and look closely at the bottom of the grips.>I was just surprised as I'd never seen it on another controller.I guess it's because of the construction design. It's just held together with screws right? No glue/million plastic clips. I do hope they do a revision of this controller to improve manufacturing and materials. Also someone mentioned about bringing up the keyboard, and now I can't figure out why there isn't another face button (like the start button) dedicated to bringing up the onscreen keyboard.
>>738728526Doesn't work for everything. I had to download SISR to make it work with D4 on Bnet because even if I try to add it to steam all steam does is launch the Bnet launcher even if I'm using the d4.exe because Blizzard is retarded and that's how the game is setup. Because the launcher is not the game, the steam input doesn't work. I had to download SISR to get the universal Xbox 360 controller emulation to make it work with the game. And I don't understand why Valve can't just have this functionality baked in, apparently it works like this on Linux, but not windows.Other stuff like Guildwars and Cyberpunk which I do not have on steam I was able to add and it worked just fine like that.
>>738731656>Also someone mentioned about bringing up the keyboard, and now I can't figure out why there isn't another face button (like the start button) dedicated to bringing up the onscreen keyboard.Steam+X will bring up the keyboard
>>738731807>And I don't understand why Valve can't just have this functionality baked in, apparently it works like this on Linux, but not windows. This bit is microsoft's fault. Some piece of software has to run to make the controller work. Xinput is a system level implementation by Microsoft. Valve can't implement that.
>>738729293Haven't used it long enough to give a strong opinion, especially considering the lack if diverse games played with it.Personally I think there's a learning curve with the trackpad, trying to use it mixed with gyro in shooters and I'm definitely worse than my old regular controller but I know I need to practice and adjust settings manually, issue is how long.If you're not someone who wants to "re-learn" how to use a controller, then stay the fuck away from this thing.
>>738732078>Steam+X will bring up the keyboardMy 60 year old mum likes to play on a Steam Deck and I have to show her how every time she needs it (because it's rarely she does need it).
>>738727197Haven't got mine yet but looking forward to doing the exact same shit I've been doing with my steam deck for years. I already know this thing will be great. Might play cataclysm dark days ahead on my big tv from the sofa using touchpads as radial menus.
>>738731807at what point does the steam input not work? have you tried launching the game anyways and check if steam input still works? never tried blizzard launchers but i have heroic launcher (launcher i use for epic game store) added as a non steam game and it works even by launching the game
>>738732242Yes, I tried multiple times. I know about the action set swapping by holding the menu button because I do that on my steam deck but even in the Gamepad action set it was not recognizing gamepad inputs only keyboard ones in the desktop layout. I tried launching the Bnet launcher as a non-steam game and it wasn't working until I installed SISR.
>>738727197>was supposed to arrive today>controller is at ups facility>delayed until tomorrow>facility is not far from my houseFUCK UPS
>>738732567Mine was handed over to courier 2 days ago and no further updates lmao.
How does it function just as a mouse? Can I get comfy and play bad game runescape with it?
>>738732684I hope you get it soon. The thing that sucks with this is that you usually have no option. As far as I know I'm not able to go to the facility and get it myself or have the controller sent to a UPS store.
>>738732986Yeah hopefully by end of week. Shame they sold out in first 30 mins. A few of my buddies were intending on getting one
>>738728012>>738728469I'm playing Bombergirl with it
How cooked am I if it still says "packaged items" ?
>>738727197mine is still somewhere in germany...
>>738727197I thought it was going to be bigger, in hand it pretty much feels the same as my DS4 which is not a bad thing
>>738733096I wonder how the reservations for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame will go.
The screw holes on the underside causes a slight roughness on my fingers, how could they bring the controller to market in this state? Literally unusable. I'm going to be selling mine on eBay.
>>738727197>Steam Controller arrived today for EurofagsNo it fucking didn't.It's a 24 hour drive from Utrecht to where I live, less than 12 to the border. It's been 126 hours since the package left Utrecht and they still haven't handed it over to the local courier. What are these swampniggers even doing? Everything I've had sent from Germany gets here within three days.
>>738733524The steam frame is making me, someone who hasn't tried VR even once want to finally give it a shot. So I feel like others might be in the same boat, I think there's a lot of people that have been holding out for the next valve headset and I wouldn't be surprised if that is sold out pretty fast. But I'm assuming for those products they will do a deposit reservation system like they did when the steamdeck first launched.
>>738733938Soon... right?>>738733524I remember when I bought a steam deck years ago it was a mess. Every few weeks randomly maybe several decks would come in stock, no notifications or alarms and would immediately sell out.
>>738733994I'd imagine Valve will have the same system in place like they do for the controller.I want a Frame since I'm so tired of the Quest 2 and I never bothered to get a Quest 3.>>738734057It's kind of crazy. If it weren't for scalpers I wonder how the sales for the first wave of controllers would have gone. Also fuck scalpers.
>>738732567Drive there and pick it up? I once picked up some goods at DB Schenker. As long as you have your tracking number, it shouldn't be a problem. I'd recommend calling them first, though.
>>738734735I looked it up.Apparently they don't let you do that anymore. They've closed down their customer counters for whatever fucking reason.
>>738729934kek
>>738729934This kills the jeet
>>738727197Just buy an ad
>>738733454>I thought it was going to be biggerYeah, the OG controller and Steamdeck are both super chunky, but this feels like a 360 controller.
>>738734057Don't worry, GLS don't even bother scanning it, don't expect an udate until it arrives with your local delivery company, should be delivered the day after that happens.
>Steam Link on my living room TV wired connection>Steam Deck on my bedroom TV>PC at my desk>2 steam controller 1s and a steam controller 2A decade of buying into Steam hardware has resulted in the single comfiest setup imaginable. My PC is on every screen in my home
>>738735918>Small indie company known as Valve who no one usually talks about
>>738736097>Steam LinkWhy the fuck did Valve stop making this can why can no other company manage something to simple? I don't want to buy a miniture PC just to stream games to my TV and low latency. Surely there's a market for this, but there's fuck all else to buy outside of Chinese junk.
GABEEEEN WHERE IS IT WHERE THE FUCK IS IT YOU FAT FUCK
Do you honestly think anyone who has dropped a benjamin for this, isn't going to rabidly praise how remarkable a purchase they've made?
>>738736097>>738736241Valve should make a new Steam Link.I think it would do well.
>>738736446WhySoftware makes it obsolete
Is the d-pad better than the decks?
>>738736423I pirated mine and it literally sucks your dick.
>>738729159You literally cant, retardThanks to microsoft drm on store games
>>738736620Because of anons like this >>738736241
Any handlets get theirs yet? Is it usable with petite lady hands? Asking for a friend
Thursday is a national holiday in Holland. If I don't get it on Wednesday, then I'm not getting it this week either...
>>738736858See >>738733454People consider DS4 to be too small for their hands and having both of them I honestly don't see much difference, reaching stuff on steam controller is even easier.
>>738737093Mine hasn't even been shipped yet. I am not getting it this week. Hoped it would be shipped today because of hemelvaart
Aw dang it, I just remember randy shitass put spyware in borderlands, I was gonna play it when my controller arrived like I did with my og steam controller.fuck
>>738727386a stick that bring joys if you want
>>738727796>my hands sweat when holding it too longwhat does this have to do with the material, is the device physically hot or something?

>>738727197Drop it (on a soft surface like a pillow) for a surprise.
>>738736630allegedly but they feel about the same to me, I never use the d-pad for anything besides menuing though. Its slightly bigger
>>738728930DS4MapperTest
>>738727197Can someone explain how trackpads are supposed to work? I;m playing Halo and I was under the impression it would be like a DS touch screen where you move your thumbs over it and it registers, it doesn't it feels so fucking broken
>>738738482What's is the trackpad set as?
>>738738482use gyro
>>738738482There's a variety of modes it can be used as.One of them is a joystick mode that only sends input as long as you're moving it, and one where it holds it in an equivalent position as long as you're touching it.iirc it's like this because of some anticheat type shit
>>738738482Set them as a mouse input
>>738738482by default i thinks right trackpad is set to right analog stick, you want to change that to mouse input instead
>>738738603They default to joystick so probably that
>>738736773Yeah bruv it's steams fault Microsoft put some fuckass drm on the games.
>>738727197>arrived today for EurofagsSeriously fuck you. 3 - 5 buisness days. This shit better arrive tomorrow because it's a Holiday in weedland on Thursday and I live in weedland. How the fuck are other europeans getting their shit quicker than the people that live in the distribution country that has a warehouse of controllers,
>Look at my STEAM PROFILE>Look at my LIBRARY >Look at my STEAM DECK>Look at my STEAM CONTROLLERValve fans are just obese iToddlers.
>>738739834Oh no they have games and something to play them on, how horribleNintendo needs to nuke washington
>>738727197Mine arrived today but I just realized I hate video games and have nothing to play...
>>738738175NTA but there are some plastics or plastic designs you can use to reduce this. In case you were curious why a lot of controllers these days are all bumpy where you hold them (PS4 and some 8bitdo ones at least) its to increase air circulation and reduce sweating
Got mine too today, after the tracking hadn't updated since FridayYay!
>>738740243grats Anon!
>drag my feet on getting a Steam Deck>chip shortages makes it so they're no longer in production, impossible to buy one now>swear to myself that I'm not going to miss out on the Steam Controller>sells out on release day while I'm at workit's not fucking fair bros
>>738727197i already scalped 30 of them.
>>738739829I got in when it went 6 -10 days and received it today.
>>738740458There's been a waitlist for days now. We're close enough to the next gen consoles that you might want to wait if you already have a good controller that will last another year or 2.
>>738732567>ordered 2 on May 4th>1 ships on the 7th, get it the 8th>the 2nd somehow goes to FUCKING 3 STATES AWAY>just to come my state on Friday evening>sits idle at a hub SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND MONDAY with no updates>gets update overnight today>barely makes the 9:30 cut off of on the truck for out for delivery>got it today at 2:30pmI'm still seething.
i was gonna actually try to go in to work today and cut my vacation off earlybut now the fact is i cant until the ups truck comes fuck man
>>738740753That's some shit, man.Why didn't they just ship both at the same time?UPS needs to up their fucking game.I mean they really couldn't put my controller on the truck before it left this morning?
>>738740630Next gen consoles will use the same shitty dual-joystick layout.
>steam machine packages updatedNOOOOOOOMY FRAMEhttps://steamdb.info/app/4165910/subs/
>>738741284>same shitty dual-joystick layout.the dualshock and the steam controller have the same layout though?
>>738741284Trackpads are a meme if you're playing at your desk anyway, it's for couch gaming on a PC.
i use mine on my linux pc (aka homemade steam machine) and i love it, i honestly dont think im getting an actual steam machine anymore. it works great for stuff outside steam too since its built into the kernel. also cool i can wake up my machine with the controller too, it sucks you cant turn the machine on with it like a console or actual SM but its not really an issue since i usually leave it in sleep mode anyway. its lighter than i thought, but maybe the heaviness of the steam deck makes holding this feel weird since im not used to it. overall, dualsense is my fav controller ever but this is neck in neck and sliiightly edges it out due to track pads.
>>738739834you sound like a mad faggot
>>738736241Just buy a Nvidia shield or some other android box and use Apollo/Artemis for a stream set up, it's higher quality and lower latency than steams streaming. No one should really be using valves implementation for the best experience.
>>738741760mad about what
>>738741381So this means no frame yet? Frame is last?
i think its my autism but the back buttons are a little off putting to me when gripping the controller.Think i just need to get used to it.
>>738742130I think so.
>>738742860Lame. I was hoping soon.
>>738741978>Apollo/ArtemisDoes that work with the new steam controller?
>>738736423Look, not all of us feel the need to justify our bad purchases. I've paid far more than that for a controller that sucks ass that I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

>>738734967What's that movie called? I remember seeing it decades ago and I remeber it being kino
>>738745273Honestly I feel like the conversation about whether or not something is "underpowered" is pretty hard to say in this day and age when we all know how fucking horribly games run now.
>>738727197>Steam Controller arrived today for EurofagsI wish
>>738745338Leon: the Professional>>738745354That's fair, and honestly, despite the Deck's hardware it can still play some pretty high end games provided you're willing to settle for 30 fps, it's just unreal slop and similar that falls on its face
>>738741284>Next gen consoles will use the same shitty dual-joystick layout. It's so backwards that this could be true. Touch has been the dominant input method for a long time. Not just phones and tablets but everyone I know with a laptop has become extremely proficient with the touchpad and they don't even use a mouse in the home. But even when playstation adds one its deliberately placed to be useless.
>>738727197>paid 100 dollars for the same thing my xbox 360 controller doesi dunno
>>738745273It absolutely was intended for AAA titles but the Nvidia mafia set out to kill their 10 series via gaytracing and the Steam Deck (and every graphics card) was brutally caught in the crossfire. It ran Elden Ring and Baldurs Gate 3 perfectly fine, two years later it needs upscaling from a lower rez to run a Sonic kart racer? The performance of anything under the 3070 was directly sabotaged (which in reality sabotages the performance of all cards because you can't get as much out of your top of the line card because)Without gaytracing a 10 series card (and a steam deck targeting it's native rez) would have worked for 1080/60 for a decade longer
>>738740243Does it arrive like that or in another unidentifiable box? I have a feeling my package will "disappear" of they know what it is.

>>738727197I WAS SUPPOSED HAVE MINE TWO DAYS AGO BUT THE FUCKING POSTIE TOOK IT BACK TO THE POST OFFICE INSTEAD OF LEAVING IT ON MY FUCKING DOOR STEP REEEEEEE THE POST OFFICE HAS SHIT HOURS AND I CAN NEVER GET THERE WE HAVE NO NIGGERS HERE NO ONE WAS GOING TO STEAL IT
>>738749348yea, its called manufacturing process and its not just the OLEDthe LCD version had several revisions that fixed a ton of issues
>>738748052You don't even play videogames
>>738749313Seems to be common>>738749027>>738749348I was given my Steam Deck by a friend who upgraded to an OLED model.>>738748761Because if, for instance, you're doing a first time connection, and put the puck on first and then try to plug it in, it doesn't like it. It was just one of those things that happened while I was testing connectivity with a few devices.
>>738749784>>738749348I have the original LCD model and it works well, it has been with me for 4 years
>>738750549Same, really the only one I thought about was that white OLED one, because I could look at it and laugh because the word cum is funny
Is there any way to have gyro passthrough? On Pragmata it's way worse than my dualsense's native gyro
>>738738482>he fell for it
for how long is it going to stay in Dortmund? Did they forget to scan my package while loading?
>>738752520>Dortmund
>>738728930Yes, on linux
>>738749348They switched to a quiter fan in later LCD models, that's about it.
>>738751221Your gyro is bound to a joystick. Switch to mouse.
>boughted in the first 5 minutes>my package hasn't even been handed over to the carrier yetGaben hates me
you know what, typing with it isn't even that bad
Second controller just came in. Can't wait for the other two to come in so I can play smash bros.
>9pm delivery estimateUPS never does that. Its over.
>>738727197lol mine just reached the storage in germany. It won't arrive until friday at best.
>>738727197You think it'd be a clumsy retarded piece of gimmicky shit even if it was $60 instead of $100
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Why are people losing their mind over a controller? Its just your average overpriced controller with trackpad and has no native xinput
>>738754154It supports XInput, not that XInput is very good anymore.
>>738754154Because the comparable controllers cost 200$
the rumble in the grips is fucking terrible (literally mobile vibration tier). way worse than the ds4 or ds5. Sometimes it doesn’t even register in games when it’s supposed to
>>738745273>new console comes out>steam cultist "HOLY FUCK THIS WILL KILL THE SWITCH YES!!!>2 years later>ERRHHMMMMMM THIS IS FOR INDIES ACTUALLY
Mine arrived, I wrote this post with it lmao
>>738727197steam cultists are fucking gay LMAO
>>738754154valve is a based monopoly or some shit
are monopolies really that bad if they actually care for the customers and not profit?
how do the trackpads feel to use compared to the original steam controller? Trackpads are a game changer and I try to configure most games I can to only use dual trackpads and no face buttons or sticks. But on the 2.0 controller I'm worried about them being in a more awkward spot to use as a primary input
>>738747363YOU VIL OWN NOTHING
>>738755135>100 dollar controller >no headphone jackMOTHER FUCKER??!?
>>738755231>can afford $100 controller>cannot afford bluetooth headphone (the standard since 2015)They're like $10.
>>738755139The size is more like the steamdeck but the haptics are like the original steam controller and make the same sound as that one. They're raised compared to the steamdeck, which makes them easier to use.
>>738755135>actually care for the customers and not profit?man I fucking WISH valve was like that
>>738755135in some ways, valve is no better than riot games
>>738755284well im sorry I thought this was PC master race right??? Supposed to have as many options as possible?
>>738755302Neat aftermarket sticks. The stock sticks on the steam deck aren't great. I much prefer the new controller stick design.
>>738755407Wired headphones are for poorfags, which is why they're supported on every console, but not on PC or Apple devices.
>>738754804Also this dude is fucking nuts, the vibration in this thing fucks>>738755135I mean the issue there is you're working of the recontextualized argument that a monopoly is any sufficiently large and successful enough company.
>>738755457OH I FUCKING SEE HOW IT IS. AH SO PC IS NO LONGER FOR THE WORKING PEOPLE NOW IS IT?!??! NOW IM A POORFAG?? FUCK YOU!
>>738738151say that again?
>>738755412I really dislike concave sticks, but the Steam Controllers are the least bad to me. Still going to get some caps for them when they start coming out though.
Can confirm for all 5 freaks including myself, that you cannot pair the old controller to the puck (which I figured would be the case and am not upset about this)
>>738755708I quite like a concave stick, but the Steam Deck has a pretty slippery plastic surface on theirs, which forces you to thumb the edges rather than the centre (which is good sometimes, but not all the time). I prefer the new design on the steam controller.
>>738755708>>738755892How do the sticks compare to the dualsense? If you've tried the dualsense.Specifically the resistance. I don't like how easy it is to move the sticks on the xbox and 8bit do controllers.
>>738755231i can see why they dont have a headphone jack. the high data transfer from playing sounds would probably mess with the controller latency and thats one of their marketing with the steam controller
>>738756316The dualshock 4 has a lower latency rate and has a headphone jack.
>>738756151I just did a side-by-side with my dual sense, 8bitdo ultimate, and steam controller. The dual sense has more resistance on its sticks, but the steam controller has more resistance than the 8bitdo. In terms of the thumb-pieces, I'd say the dual sense wins again; it's got larger and more comfortable thumb-pieces. I would probably put the Steam Controller last in this regard, but it has a reason to be last; the surface of the thumb sticks is capacititive, so they can't use rubber on the centre of them.In terms of placement, my 8bitdo has an xbox layout. I would say it is PS5 dual sense that wins again, but it's fairly close to the steam controller. Again, the steam controller has good reason for this with the touch pads, which are easily in a better and more accessible position than the PS5's touchpad.Feel free if you have any other questions bro.
>>738756454kek
>Sekiro and Elden Ring still refuse to work with any controller I try to use, including the Steam ControllerI'm gonna slit Miyazaki's fucking throat.
>>738757154Let me guess, pirated both?
>>738757218Even pirated copies should work with your average xinput controllerOh waitHahaha
>>738757218Of course. I got through 3/4's of Sekiro on M&K, I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay for the last 25%.
>>738757396Sounds like a (You) issue then>>738757346>NOT THE XINPUTTERINOS
Everyone complaining about the quality of the shell knows they can completely replace it right? Valve published the blueprints for the Controller so give it a few months and you'll be able to get third party shells that are much higher quality.
>>738732567lol, got mine last week, threw it in a cabinet and never even opened it.
>>738757808I'm going to be honest.Even beyond considering I ordered mine 5 minutes before they were officially up, and JUST got it like an hour ago.And the years of people who obviously don't have a steam deck bitching about it desperately begging people to not buy one even though it's been completely unpurchaseable for like, over a year. They probably don't own one.
>>738758064Damn, I didn't know the deck was out of stock at all let alone for that long
>>738757154Try running it on Linux
>>738758748The highest end OLED stuck around for a bit longer, but yeah it was some time last year around the time the switch 2 came out that it was totally sold out.
>>738755284Bluetooth audio is dogshit.
>>738755457There are IEMs more expensive than airpods though. Explain that.
>>738756454lolno lmao
>>738727197I think its nice as far as an alternative to mouse and keyboard but I still need the mouse and keyboard just for me, but if lets say it didnt exist I would probably want this controller for a good mix. i 3d printed a stand for it with the puck, its nice because you dont really have to line it up and it just snaps together, also its dainty, really nice looking controller all around.
>>738727197Got mine. It's definitely gonna take some getting used to. Already got SISR working and it does everything well enough imo. Need to find some good layouts with gyro.
