>>738729556The combat in this game is great conceptually, it's just that they half-assed it so hard that it ended up being less mechanically complex than a fucking nes jrpg , in a game that's nearly 80 hours long. Literally anything would have worked in place of it , but I would say that Valkyrie profile's combat is the best solution since it uses the same combo system but in a more refined way since it doesn't stop the entire game flow to tell me that you inputted a combo like in Xenogears
