Quick poll.

What is, in your opinion, the last game so far to have revolutionized gaming as a whole?
>>
>>738734198
Resident Evil 2 remake sat the blueprint for modern horror games
>>
>>738734198
Nier Automata is a Novel Classic, and one of the very few 7th gen-onward games that I would consider very good.
>>
E33
>>

Smash Ultimate is the reason everything is crossover slop now. Yeah Fortnite is the biggest example now but I'll always believe it started with Smash rosterfaggotry.

Eh, crossovers have a long history with fighting games. You've had stuff like King of Fighters (which started out as SNK's all-stars crossover fighter in a sense, before becoming one of their flagship fighters), Capcom vs SNK/Marvel/Tatsunoko, guest characters in Soul Calibur, "dream match" fighting games (Aquapazza, Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, etc), Akuma in Tekken, Eltnum and Akatsuki appearing in Undernight, and so on and so forth. People have always liked their favorite characters appearing in fighting games, for better or worse. Smash just happens to be a popular title, so roster discussion happens a lot as a natural consequence.
With Fortnite I think Epic simply realized that to keep Fortnite relevant, they had to tap into whatever is popular and try to bring them in as skins, keeping revenue streams more stable. Skins can be a way to sell a game, but I don't think those are quite the same as playing characters with their own unique movesets in a fighter.

Games e33 influence havent been made yet its only been a year, dumbass
>>
>>738734198
I was thinking Dark Souls. Around the same time the roguelite indie boom was reaching its zenith so you could say that as a whole too.
>>
>>738735049
Vampire Survivors had horrible effects on the indie industry
>>
>>738734198
Just came out a few days ago, it's called Mixtape
>>
GTA V. That was mind-blowing when it firat came out.
>>
>>738734971
I'm talking about the specific way Smash Ultimate handled the new characters. The trailers, the hype for the trailers, hell even the cross graphic gets copied by other games. Sakurai showed the industry that there is a lot of money to be made in hyping up the next IP crossover.
>>
>>738735094
You could definitely compare that to what games like Binding of Isaac, Dead Cells and Risk of Rain did.
>>
>>738734198
Crimson Desert raised the bar for open world games at the very least
>>
Is detective Conan worth trying to read/watch? Isn't it longer than Wan Piss?
>>
Balatro
>>
>>738734973
bottom of the well is just a Ubisoft game on the switch
>>
>>738735362
If you like Procedurals you will enjoy it but it's going to blueball you. They just keep solving cases and the plot never really advances. Also, even though the inspirations are Poirot/Marple/Sherlock/etc., the rationale of the murders and the murder methods are very Japanesey, and you will soon find out why; within a couple seasons, you will be able to predict the murderer before the end of the episode.

Also, Ran is hot. The show is completely carried by the characters.
>>
>>738735380
Definitely Balatro is ranking up there now that you mention it.
>>
>>738734198
RE4 revolutionized third person shooters. Every single TPS game looks and plays the way it does because RE4 showed how to do it at a basic level, and things have standardized to that. In that same vein, COD4 did the same but for FPS games, every single FPS control scheme has been standardized to copy how COD4 did it, not even Halo for all the success it saw transformed the way FPS games played as much as COD4 did.

Genshin Inpact.

Disco Elysium
>>
>>738735585
I actually did like watching procedurals when I did watch TV so I'll probably enjoy it. Is there a huge known difference between the manga and anime?
>>
>>738735981
I could never get into this game but I was surprised at the amount of games apeing Disco Elysium that has come out recently. Guess it was more popular than I thought it was
>>
>>738735362
The only thing I know about Conan is that the girl with the spike in her hair gets hit on by everyone and Conan gets annoyed and also there's another brown haired girl that got shrunk that people lust over
>>
>>738736098
Haven't read the Manga but as far as I know it's only graphical differences: the Anime Characters are flashier. There's some censorship as usual, too, but afaik nothing major.
>>
>>738734198
I believe we are still in the "Dark Souls" era of ARPGs as the face of gaming, though it appears to be winding down at this point waiting to be replaced by the next major thing.

That said I think the most recent revolutionary title that sort of created its own little genre was probably Fortnite popularizing free for all battle royale shooters, which more or less evolved from the "hero" arena team shooter and has since kinda morphed into free for all extraction style games which are in vogue.

So on the whole I'll say Fortnite was the most recent huge shift

I dont really watch anime and i loved Cased Closed on toonami growing up. Its a shame most episodes aren't dubbed i would watch all of them, there are some really creative murders

Revolutionized is a big word, so I'd say the first proper 3D game.
>>
I hate anime but i only know about this show because my mother was watching it once

Cool Mom.

Lethal company.

lol
one memory i have is the episode about the detective boys who are at the cinema, mitsuhiko sees a guy taking off his contact lenses and he was talking about it he screams "HE TOOK HIS EYES OUT"
my brother made fun of me for watching it in american spanish..

Can you fags just go back to twitter already
>>

Because everything is friendslop now?
>>
>>738734198
Gaming as a whole is so disparate and diverse now that it’s impossible for one game to revolutionize “the medium”.
