There is a fangame called Close Combat, which is only Fighting types allowed.The game looks pretty nice, but the gameplay on the other hand is genuinely just retarded.The devs have no idea how to balance this fucking shit.Characters like Toxicroak, Bewar and Passimian are cancer, meanwhile the devs constantly go out of their way to nerf characters that aren't even very good but are generally well liked and played by a ton of people like Great Tusk and Slither Wing.The single player content is really barren as well, the final boss of the path is one of the worst designed fighting game characters of all time, fucking Tekken 5 Jinpachi levels of retarded, arguably even worse in many ways.

The game is so hard to grasp if you don't have any experience with it because of its field shift core. This made it harder for others to genuinely give it a chance because it's so offputting at first. However, I had the chance to play it for the first time last year earnestly and I can honestly say there is no game like Pokken, genuinely. I can't even really call it "just" an arena fighter. It's Pokken. And that's probably the highest compliment you can give a game. Anyway, the game is genuinely fun, more people should give it a shot.

Picks like Charizard, Suicune, Chandalure, Braixen and Pikachu Libre were very offputting and didn't really mesh with anyone's sensibilities and seen as forced XY marketing which no one really cared about at the time either. Having played the game myself, you can look past it because the movesets for most of the characters are actually really cool, especially Libre who has a fucking Stone Cold Stunner and is fun to just blitz around the open phase with.
