The whole paint thing is a bit of a joke when you consider items used to fucking glow in games.

Those barrels are actually red in real life
>>738737965
You are legitimately retarded if you can't see the difference between non-diagetic glowing items and paint physically present in the world.
>>
>>738737965
No, it isn't. The paint is trying to be diagetic, meaning it is not separate from the game world. That then begs the question, who the fuck is the Jackson Pollack Nostradamus going around like a prophetic street artist to guide the player character, why the fuck are they so recklessly using yellow paint instead of different marker, and if they are so fucking athletic and know what needs to be done, why didn't they take out the bad guy instead of slinging paint everywhere like an ejaculating Sherwin Williams porn star?

Now why would they change it to yellow paint in modern games if glowing items worked in the past? Perhaps its because modern gamers are bigger retards?

?

Except it is diagetic. Just because it is not realistic, and just because you know it is a gameplay conceit, doesn't change whether or not it is diagetic. It is explicitly diagetic.

Zoomers are so painfully butt blasted about RE4 remake and yellow paint that they actually think they can attack the concept of the red explosive barrel.

Not a joke, folks.
>>
>>738738640
boomoids need yellow paint because their eyes don't work anymore

When it began to appear people called it shit too.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider lets you disable yellow paint. Why can't other devs? Are they lazy and think the audience for remakes are morons and children?
>>
>>738736643
I was having such a great time with this on Pro, but then I get to that huge room in the castle with the crossbow guys and hordes of monks, so I had to quit for a while. That room is such a pain in the ass

>who the fuck is the Jackson Pollack Nostradamus going around like a prophetic street artist to guide the player character,
In God of War it was explained his wife did the journey before him and marked his path because timetravel.
Thats the only example of it being an in game explaination i can think of
