Prodigal, if you haven't played it, is a puzzle-heavy Gameboy Color style action-adventure game with lots of puzzles, and bizzarely there's romance routes. If you ever played a Zelda game and wished you could marry the Bombchu girl or the bug collecting girl, this is the game for you. It got a surprise update.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18BGWzTaIpghttps://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1393820/view/701015907648930916?l=english-Added auto finish for chat if you press A while someone is talking-Added Pickaxe and input to the HUD-3 new pickaxes-tweaked anchor slightly-adjusted rings-Girls now have some reactions depending on who you end up marrying-Added room to the arena for weapon swapping-Added more colors-Added statue rewards based on boss defeats with curse count-Added a hidden boss (Good luck lol)-New dungeon-Updated a number of tracks-More text added for a number of NPCs-Renamed an item-Added a new food shop in the Crocasino. >>738759717Shoot me a key and I'll play it on my channel
>>738759717nice honestly props to the dev for still updating a single player game that not that many people played
ok just for u i wishlisted it
>words words wordscomeon man give me some images if you wanna shill the game
>>738759717>Prodigal update out of nowhereIs this preparation for the Curse Crackers sequel
>>738760841Colorgrave's autism knows no bounds>release five GBC-style games in five years, with a sixth one coming out this year>write a massive world and lore connecting every game in small ways>small sequel teases in every game
I got this in a bundle with curse crackers. This is probably a sign it's time to check it out. Thanks OP.
I really loved curse crackers but I sadly am too shit at platformers to get the most out of it. Love Colorgrave though. One of the few indie devs that can do pixel art that doesn't look shit.
>>738763353Guy also seems to have some sort of chip on his shoulder regarding Nintendo, so I haven't bought his games since the Switch is where I'd want to play them. You hear that? Get over whatever it is so you aren't just cutting off a potential market, you big-eared frearf.
>>738760841I played it, it's good.
>>738763353I wishlisted and bought some of their games after seeing their interview at PAX with the /v/gas
>>738764007
>>738759717>no femcNope im good
>>738759717did they add the ability to date the monster girls yet?
>60% of the game's content locked behind beating the "final boss"Weird choice.
>>738768356ThisWhile some of the girls are cute, I want them to be non-humanThe fish lady was kinda cute
>>738759717damn, I never finished it the first time around, found out I fucked up the questline for the girl I wanted to marry in-game and lost all interest.
Loved prodigal and curse crackers, but what a steaming pile of shit veritas was. Interconnected lore has its place in world building but they forgot to make you give a shit. In medias res only works if you eventually give context - this just plopped you in the middle of the story and kept you on a treadmill of nonsense. Hopefully they retool it at some point, because their other stuff very much is worth playing.
>>738759717Wait there's an UPDATE to this? This shit was insanely dense as it fucking was! What the actual fuck?
The primary draw for me was being able to marry cute girlsI finished the game and didnt even marry anyone, game was good thoughWell I say finish, I mean I killed the final boss
>>738769276Marriage with the majority of the cast is locked until after that.
>>738768079This is what the girls you don't marry get up to btw
>>738764557Nintendo seems to have a chip on it's shoulder regarding putting their games on PC so I haven't bought any of them. You hear that? Get over whatever it is so you aren't just cutting off a potential market, you big-eared frearf.
>>738769276The game unironically only starts after beating the final boss.
>>738759717I'm going to take a wild guess and assume they fucking ruined it somehow after the mess that was Veritus. Prodigal didn't need an update.
What are some other 9/10 indie 2D games like this? First ones that come to mind for me are Tres-Bashers, Gravity Circuit, and Pipistrello.
>>738759717I liked Prodigual, but come on, couldn't they have fixed the one thing that's obviously missing from the game?I mean come on, the lady's right on the cover but you still can't romance Wren? You know that's bullshit!I mean, if you're making a retro Zelda clone with romance routes, it should be obvious that you need some monstergirls, no? We NEED those colorgrave, you hear me?!
>>738778474you can't romance any monster girl? what's the point then
My wife River is the best.
>>738759717Already finished the whole thing months ago.No playing a game again I finished no matter how good it was.
>>738759717Was that art done by OnKinky?
Is one of the dev's other games about the MC's past, where he fucked off to and why before he came back? Or was that buried way in the post-game that I didn't get to?
>>738759717i'm very curious about the new dungeon, but i can't be bothered figuring out how to get to it, can anyone help? i don't have to play through the whole game again to experience it, hopefully>>738778883my mani went with the brown girl, but now that some time has passed since i've beaten the game, i think river is best girl>>738769006hey, at least the dungeons are alright (although nowhere near as good as the best of the best that prodigal has to offer)>>738764143>I really loved curse crackers but I sadly am too shit at platformers to get the most out of ithow much of the game did you beat?>>738763353i still don't understand how curse crackers is connected to prodigal
>>738776403Cave Story, Kero Blaster, Iconoclasts, Katana Zero, Barkley Gaiden, N++, Spelunky 2
>>738759717i played this game for a while but i couldn't get into it.you get 4 tools, 2 of which do almost exactly the same thing and 1 of them being used almost exclusively as a way to reset your room position.enemy variety is nearly non-existent, you get no less than 2 chain fetch quests for no reason other than "zelda did it"i guess some people care for the social aspect, but that's not me.the powerups being exclusively temporary stuff absolutely killed any enjoyment i had in unlocking new shop items (which also require fetch quests)game would have been fine if it was more distilled
>>738768079>No femcThis game has dating elements, a femc wouldn't make sense
>>738780863I can agree with that, some of the questlines were a huge pain in the ass, especially all the running back and forth early on before you got the running boots. The game basically frontloads that shit on you too which makes the impression even worse.
>>738760841I played it. It's so full of esoteric content it's pretty clearly an autistic passion project. It's greatest sin is none of the monster girls are marriageable, particularly medusa.
>>738764557Nintendo has a chip on their shoulder for everyone else. They should stop being shit.
>>738759717>puzzle-heavy Gameboy Color styleyeah no I'm good
>>738769006Veritas struck me as intentional filler for an inevitable full length sequel.
>>738759717Dropping this ahead of Mina the Hollower is such a flex, especially when the mouse won't measure up
>>738780970the game is called ProdiGAL it makes a lot of sense
I really enjoyed it when I played it two years ago but I'm not replaying it again. Colorgrave is based tho.
>>738769006Veritas was such a disappointment
>>738780140>i still don't understand how curse crackers is connected to prodigalIt's a sequel set in another setting. Some of the characters from Prodigal makes an appearance in this game. Also the Colorless Void plays a major role in the game's story.
>>738782130Stick to Fortnite.
>>738768079Those are both men
