Here's a trick from a seasoned gacha gamer, introduce him to another (or multiple) new gacha games. When he splits his attention, it limits his ability to keep up with events and the story. When he can't even keep up with the story, he's not as pressured to spend a lot of real money pulling copies of characters which just increase stats. Also if he misses a waifu from 1 game, he's likely to land a waifu in another game and that's enough to keep him happy. Just tell him to spend $5 a month for the monthly subscriptions which gives a good amount of premium currency.

That's true but there's no satisfaction in doing so.

The interesting part of gatcha games, for me at least, is that you can play them in a very short amount of time each day (GFL2 dailies take about 2-5mins for example) and in doing so you'll build up a stockpile of limited resources that you then have to allocate to build a team in a way that makes sense to you.

You balance waifu/aesthetic with gameplay power. In GFL2 for example, you're building teams and the girls you spend your free currency on determine which teams you're gonna focus on.

Yeah, you can just drop $200 and get every new unit to V6 without issue and have no problems, but that's the same as putting in God Mode when playing Doom or Quake or something. There's no sense in satisfaction at having actually done anything with your account, you're plateaued. And if you're gonna just buy power then logging in and doing dailies has no purpose. Soon enough you'll just log in to read the new events, or lose interest altogether.

Basically, the enjoyment is in allocating limited resources, if you give yourself unlimited resources the game becomes less interesting.

In that case, the dailies can take up to 40 minutes to 1 hour a day, depending the boss and your team, assuming you have all animations sped up 3x and ultimate animations disabled.

The sad part is, gacha developers think 1 person spending $600 a month is better than 100 people spending $10 a month.
Because those 100 people may get bored and move to other games if you can't deliver satisfying content, while the addict spending $600 will stay no matter how much you fuck with him, like a battered wife.

I don't think Google/Apple don't accept mobile refunds anymore. I remember I spent $400 on Fire Emblem Heroes for one of its 8% banners only to get fleeced so hard I did a chargeback the same day.
