Parts I hate about it:
>4 hours before you actually get into a dungeon
>shitty gfx because dumbasses thought that their dicks would fall off if they played toony zelda
>dog form is boring, and it pads the game by blatantly reusing maps
>Tears of Light FETCH QUESTS
>Incredibly linear and isn't even ashamed about it

Parts I like:

MIDNA
>>
>Yes, I assure you, my dear player, the gratuitous ass shot is integral to the plot.
>>
>>Incredibly linear and isn't even ashamed about it
so like every Zelda?
>>
more like 2 hours for the first dungeon but man you haven't even reached Lake Hylia then if that's what you're complaining about

Zelda 1 is not linear. Zelda 3 and MM at least allow for some non-linearity and they are still interested in designing non-linear games, as evidenced by ALBW and nu-Zelda.

>>738775168
It's just boring.

I don't like Ocarina that much, but it has soul
>>
>>738775120
>>738775292
You can at least do the temples in different orders in OoT.
>>
>>738775026
The wolf sections are some of the weakest parts of the whole series, but the parts you play as Link are among the best. And thankfully there's a lot more of the latter. You just have to power through the wolf shit.
The aesthetics are probably the best in the series, and I say that as somebody who likes Wind Waker's art style.
I don't really care about in being linear, being able to do a couple dungeons out of order is cool but it's overrated. And decrying linearity too much is how we ended up with BOTW gutting the soul of the series.

Anyway, it's a flawed game, but great overall. Not as good as Ocarina but I'd take another TP over a BOTW or TOTK any day.

No you fucking can't, getting the item halfway through doesnt count ootsnoy
>>
>>738775292
complete false equivalency, cope
>>
>>738775560
OoT has more acknowledgement for the player doing dungeons out of order than BotW or TotK does.
Cope.
>>
is there any lewd mods for midna yet

And then in the second half they just gave up

hate for twilight princess has always been forced retardation, same with WW. the only good thing that came out of it was the hate for WW created twilight princess.

most people leave out how inherently broken the game is on a sheer gameplay and pacing basis.

there are a million cutscenes and mini cutscenes and dialogue, link's movement itself is stiff and bad, it was never like that in any of the 3D games before or since. everything has a guided tour design to it, almost no player agency whatsoever.
game makes you wait all the time, including not giving you an option to change time of day, but making things in the game dependent on it
>>
>>738775026
I like my Zelda dungeons, but the way fans talk about them as though you'd wanna play a Zelda game with no story but it's 1 giant Dungeon Marathon really weirds me out. Okay, the game has a story that builds up a context first, before it throws you into the hardcore level design, and that's bad?

I would absolutely hate a modern Zelda game that just has 6 dungeons with nothing associated to it, and nothing else. I like the dungeons in the context of everything, but if they were just standalone I wouldn't even give a shit about this series. They're not like "actively fun" to me.

Thinking about it, it is a bit strange they didn't let you do the three twilight mirror temples in whatever order you wanted
>>
>>738775292
If it takes you 5 fucking hours to get to the forest temple then you should simply play a different game that's more up to your speed.
>>
>>738775560
You only need the hookshot for the first three adult dungeons you larping BotWtranny secondary.
>>
>>738775560
Water can be played before Fire, the Megaton Hammer isn't important to any of the other dungeons
Spirit can be played before Shadow, or right after Water if you have the Wasteland path memorized
>>
>>738777702
I think it's important to set up context but tbf the TP intro just goes on a little bit too long. Just right over the edge to where it becomes tedious. When it makes you herd goats a second time it's like ok, let's just get this over with. Ocarina and Wind Waker both have excellent intro sections that set up the game and make you feel a connection to the cast and setting, but they never get criticism like TP does because the pacing is a lot better.
I love TP overall but it absolutely does have pacing issues in the first third of the game or so, and especially right at the beginning. I don't think it's bad enough to ruin the game but it's enough to make you groan at the thought of replaying it.

I've been enjoying my playthrough of it again after like 20 years. So far my only complaints is Goron Mines and Lakebed because holy fuck do those dungeons fucking suck. I don't even mind the Tears of Light stuff. It was nice exploring the areas again after so long in their twilit states. I think the game still looks great despite its age but it definitely could use a touch up, for its time though, I think it still holds up. I like how every Zora in this game is apparently female and that there's a Post Man Easter egg of him referencing this when he can't find the one male Zora that his letter is addressed to.

what compels you to lie like that?

Why is X blowing up about Midna? Did they not know she existed?
>>
>>738775292
Dodongo's cavern takes nowhere near that long to reach.
>>
>>738783148
there's basically a whole generation of people who didn't play Twilight Princess because it's an old game at this point and the last time it was available was on the Wii U which nobody owned. and they're now getting access to it through the pc port. they might have been peripherally aware of Midna's existence at best but are actually experiencing her character for the first time
>>
>>738777702
Zelda dungeons are massively overrated by people when all the most interesting parts of almost all the games are in the overworld. Deungeons generally just make you go room to room and have nothing interesting to them once they're cleared out.
>>
>>738783479
Only game where I found dungeons to be genuinely complex was MM.
