Downloaded this after finishing Sophie 2, and I don't really get this game.

I'm on chapter 5, the lava painting, still using the starting equipment because anything I can make is trash, the effects are literally locked at half gauge, so even with decent catalysts I cannot make anything good. By now, the enemies have hundreds of HP and resist physical. So my only course of action is spamming bombs for like 60 dmg.

How are you meant to play this? Yes, I've noticed I have a DLC fish in my container with the "one hit kill" trait, but I don't want to cheat.

What is the intended progression? Why is everything locked 5 fucking chapters in?
>basket size is only 50 (a single boulder drops 5-7 materials btw)
>no bomb refills (though I've unlocked duplication at least)
>armor/weapon materials are still at tier 1
Thought this was one of the better Atelier games, and I don't want to be too harsh, but this is pretty awful compared to Sophie 2. Does it get good 30 hours in or some shit?

You supposed to go hikkikomori in their home to make insane bomb/equipment.

Can't make anything good when materials are all trash and effects are locked at half gauge (I'm assuming you need a higher alchemy level, I'm at 20 right now).
